Congratulations to everyone who was admitted! I didn't get in this year but I'm trying to remain optimistic about my options and how to improve my application. Does anyone know when we can expect to know our interview score? Thanks! Again, go celebrate!!! 🙂

I'm sorry to hear that, best of luck with the next application cycle! I received my interview score a week after admission offers came out back in 2011 (may be different now).

Last year it was 2 days after decisions got released, but considering this year they released decisions earlier, I have no clue! I think they just hate being predictable :lame:

Hi Guys, I received my interview score today and I got a 79.75. According to the cut-off for last years stats, I think I would've been admitted. My stats were 84.5/85.4/24. I'm sad and mad at the same time. So frustrating.

Hard to say what the cut off was for admissions this year, as interview scores just came out, but those grades/interview sound like someone who should have been admitted (unless the stats were crazy high this year).
Do you remember anything that could have got flagged during your interview?

I don't think I said anything controversial. I tried to approach scenarios from all directions and sympathize with each stakeholder. Ultimately I made a definitive decision but I don't think I was radical.

I also think that if I had said something inappropriate it would've reflected in my interview score.

I do think the stats were higher this year (seem to be continuously going up every year these past 3 application cycles) ... I do think you must have been very close to the cut off though Corally as your scores put you almost a full point above last years cut off (which based on scores that were posted was around 78.2). I know it doesn't help I was in your exact position last year, I was only .2 points off of the cut off.
Do you have any plans of doing an extra semester? I went back this last fall to try to increase my stats and it was definitely worth it, I highly recommend doing that if it's an option for you!

I graduated in 2013 and returned for a non-degree semester last winter. My grades did not change significantly. I have been offered a masters position that I am going to take. I'm worried I won't be successful in the graduate cohort and by the time I do another non-degree semester and reapply through the undergrad cohort my marks will be obsolete due to the increase in averages every year. I also realize that I need a plan b and this masters is a great opportunity for me. What are your thoughts?

Where did you do your last 2 semesters? Were they at a 'tougher' university?

I think you need at least 3 semesters in grad school before you can apply as the grad cohort? So you would only be able to apply as the grad cohort for F2017 entry (correct me if I am wrong).
In the meantime you would theoretically be applying with the undergrad cohort for F2016 entry - unless you don't want to use up one of your 4 applications.

So if you do decide to go to grad school and applying with the grad cohort does not work out, you will be able to do a non-degree semester during Fall2017 while applying for Fall 2018 entry. Theoretically if you were to do this, I would potentially advise either going to an 'easy' University for a higher chance at getting a 90+ average or truly going insane with your studies at whatever University and going for that 90+.

Alternatively, if you do not go to grad school, and do one more non-degree semester (Fall2015, assuming you are not past the deadline to apply as a non-degree student) you will be able to apply for F2016 entry. Assuming your last semester had an ~85 average and you are able to get a ~90+ average during this coming Fall2015 semester you would be floating around ~88% for prereqs + last 2 semesters.

Is there any possibility of you taking the Masters acceptance but starting in WINTER2016 instead of Fall 2015? If yes, you could do a non-degree for Fall2015, while applying for Fall2016 OVC entry. In the meantime you would plan to do your grad semesters(Winter2016,Summer2016, Fall2016) and being able to apply for the grad cohort for Fall2017 OVC entry. This last scenario assumes there is a grad school Summer 2016 semester, and obviously that you can delay your masters until a Winter2016 start date. If you could somehow do all this ^, that would definitely be ideal.

I think some of that makes cents

I for one tanked the interview this year... Hopefully a non-degree semester + huge improvement for the interview portion works out for me for next year.

Hey Dat Ass,

Thanks for the in-depth advice about moving forwards. I took all you had to say into consideration before making my final decision. Ultimately, I have decided to pursue my masters degree and reevaluate my OVC application.

I wanted to let you all know that I ceremoniously burned my rejection letter in a bonfire tonight. I feel better already. The wine might have had something to do with that as well...

Good luck at OVC next year everyone! You all deserve your place in the Class of 2019!
