hope i'm not freaking ya'll out with all the posting. nothing new from my end.
gdubb said:i'm from a really small (1 stoplight small) town in north carolina, but i live in chapel hill now. just graduated last year and i am working at the hospital. go heels! if we all end up in dc, ya'll are gonna have to help this girl adjust to life in the big city.
ok...back to work. i've posted enough random stuff today. (which really means i'll be back in like 5 minutes 🙂 )

gdubb said:skitlez...step away from the old threads. 😛
i've read them and reread them and they do nothing but provoke anxiety

Idaho grown said:Good Morning everybody, what an excititng day. 😀
Does anybody have any info from GW about what is going on? An idea of how many spots were opened up?
Or, does anybody know what days were the big ones in past years? It seems like it could take GW a few days to sift through the open spots and alternate lists, what do you think/know?
tcar18 said:My guess would be not until next week but I think if there is movement this week it will be tues or wed based on those who got off the list. If the people that got off the list heard tuesday afternoon, i am guessing the committtee met on Monday. So maybe the same thing applies, but then I could be totally wrong.
Goodluck everyone out there in agony
get back to werk gdubb. stop refreshin the gw page.... 🙄gdubb said:tcar, that's what i was thinking. let's hope they meet today. i really want to know how many people are on the waitlist. or maybe not...that could be too depressing.
u know me too well 😳seethrew said:get back to werk gdubb. stop refreshin the gw page.... 🙄

tcar18 said:My guess is probably about 150... roughly 1.5 times the size of the class i wish there was a way to find out. I would almost appreciate bad news at this point so long as it was news..... ok, no i wouldn't
the wl will be big, but it also may mean a lot of movement. the missing piece is wl size of course, since it is poss that many peeps turned down an accepted offer during the year. i dunno. i would look at these numbers positively... a lot of fluidity in the admissions arena. i wonder if we had the numbers fer a top ten school, by comparison, you may see a comforting difference. thats if yer sooo bored gdubb. 😉gdubb said:ok smart math people...i just found this on an old thread (yes i'm bored at work 😉 ) i think it's from 2003
George Washington:
Applied Interviewed Accepted Enrolled
Total: 7,412 1,128 402 167
In-state: 40 10 5 1
Out-of-state: 7,372 1,118 397 166
soooo does this mean they had to offer seats to 402 people to fill a class of 167 or am i reading this wrong? then that would make the waitlist huge right? 🙄

gdubb said:👍 thanks foolsgold.
also...from reading last year's waitlist thread it seemed that there wasn't as much movement as usual.
hoping that's not the case this year.
ok must stop searching old threads.
where is skitlez to yayal at me about that?
skitlez said:STOOPP!! Reading old threads!!! Too much of that makes you spiral into a cycle of nervousness and stress that eats away your energy, energy that could be better used for such things as contacting GW to express your love for the school.. or almost ANYTHING else for that matter.. 🙂
If only I took my own advice...
Every year is different. And hopefully this year will be full of movement![]()

skitlez said:Looking at the stats posted:
(thanks for posting the stats!!)
Number accepted:
2004: 387
2003: 402
That is a difference of 15 people. And considering that there are ~400 people accepted, 15 people is less than a 4% difference in the number of people accepted (and you have to take into account that there is variation every year).
So last year's numbers don't seem too crazy. (But I'm not sure since I didn't look up any other past stats.)
I hope that makes you feel better (gdubb) 🙂
sighs.. only monday...
I hope this week ends our misserryy with a happy phone call or email

jkamed said:Thanks guys...just so you know, the dean totally freaked me out on the call. I was so excited when she said who she was, then she told me she was calling to make sure I still wanted to be on the waitlist, then we kept talking and finally she told me I got in...how scary!
skitlez said:haha that sounds nerve wracking, how long did you guys talk?
Thanks for letting us know 🙂

today
jkamed said:A few minutes before she told me, and she was making casual conversation as well, which I thought was really nice. I just had foot surgery and she asked how I was doing with all that. I thought it was very impressive that she even knew about that, and then cared to ask, she is just such a nice person!
WaitCommiserate said:I know this probably sounds psycho, but what time did GW call you for your acceptance? I am thinking between 12-2PM.... lets get a poll started....lol
I'd agree... they folks over at the admissions office probably don't want to call before noon, since a number of people live on the West Coast (i.e. 10 AM call = 7 AM on the other coast)... nothin like sounding all groggy, cussin at the person calling before 9!gdubb said:![]()
