Harvard decision received today

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've checked this thread so many times today that I'm now a little reluctant to go to bed and leave it for so many hours... but I guess you guys will all still be here in the morning, huh?

I think checking the mail tomorrow is gonna be exponentially more scary than it was today (and it was pretty darn scary today).

So for all of us still waiting, :luck: :luck: :luck: !

And for our fallen comrades,

Night all!

I know the feeling, I really don't want to go to bed either. I will definitely be sweating as I check my mail tomorrow. I really didn't expect anything today because not many people had gotten anything, but now that I know the rejections are flowing, I sense the impending doom. Well, let's all hope for the best.

I'm waiting, and I can assure you that my numbers are not great. I'm freaking.

Ditto - except the total freakout - I will be disappointed if I don't get accepted, but I was so shocked to get an interview in the first place that I still don't know what to think! I have a back-up that I'm happy with if it doesn't pan out. Best of luck to all still waiting, and may fate have sent the rest in the direction that will make you the happiest...even if it doesn't appear that way now.

:luck:

Such wise words. This is the most we can all hope for throughout this process.

damn.. just who is HMS accepting anyway? good luck to the rest of you. :luck:

does anybody know the total number of interviews harvard gives out, and how many people accept, reject, and waitlist? basically the breakdown.

Last year they interviewed about 1000 ppl for a class of 165. I think they accept about 225 people to fill those 165 spots. I've heard the waitlist is small, but I don't know how small. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that...

Rejection in CA today.

Wait- didn't you get an acceptance from Duke in NC? Wasn't that why you started the Duke acceptances thread? So why did this rejection go to California? Do they mail it to your permanent rather than preferred address???

I'm so sorry for all of you who have received bad news so far. I'm sure you'll all find perfect match schools for you regardless!

A stupid storm knocked out my power for the past 5 hours, so I finally got on here just now. Better not have damaged the post office...

Strange that the rejections reached pretty much everywhere in one day. Maybe Harvard is using a shotgun mailing approach to foil our cartography plans... Oh well, good luck to everyone tomorrow! Someone needs to post an acceptance to prove it's at least possible!

sorry, hehe, i guess it won't be me to post the first acceptance...got a slim sucker single piece of paper today with harvard's deep-felt regrets. 🙂 that's okay, i guess i'll stay in kaliifornya!! 🙂

good luck to everyone else, though. god i can't imagine how happy u guys will be when you get accepted!

Me.

Seriously though, I feel wierdly close to some of you guys who have been around since the beginning of this cycle or so with me. JayQuah, Bluntman, KevinZ, Princess, SPB, DeadOrAlive, CareBear, Dopamine, SeventhSon, etc. I've been following these guys for a year or so now. All people I was so amazed and starstruck by. Now look! Half of them gone down! No!!!

I'm with you. And whoever had the battlefield analogy is right on. I feel like I'm watching my comrades go down. My parents live in the hills. I'll probably be with you tomorrow. And 06 - I'm waiting on Yale with you.

From the US news stats, last year H interviewed 711, accepted 225 and 165 enrolled.
Good luck!

Wow, 60 people actually turned down their acceptances to Harvard last year - over 1 in 4. It would be interesting to hear their stories too...

Just reporting for morning duty here on SDN...

hope it's a good day!

i guess i am too! good morning everyone!

Haha, I know that no one has received their mail this early, but yet, I cannot stay away.

Multiple choice. Pick only one answer.

Today in this thread, we are most likely to hear from people who received

a. acceptances today
b. rejections today
c. rejections yesterday
d. a and b
e. a and c
f. b and c
g. all of the above

I'm going with "d" - rejections and acceptances, all received in the mail today.

I'm gonna say... f. Because I'm a pessimist.

i think g...some people don't immediately log on to sdn, so we'll get some from yesterday. IF they sent out the letters yesterday like they said, then the people in the NE will get their acceptances. and of course people will also get rejected if you live far away from Boston (like I do -- eek)

g...all of the above

You're a pessimist, even after getting a couple scholarships, including a full ride to Vandy?? I'd say you've got it made. But you're going to have a tough choice if (when) Harvard accepts you. Even if they don't, you still have a tough choice...

No news here in Michigan today. Well, I got some Disney stickers, but nothing better/worse than that. 24 more hours of waiting... (AHHH the Ides of March! :scared: )

Good luck everyone! :luck:

Congrats. No news is good news.

Happy waiting.

8 pages of posts on here in 3 days. I know we'll all be relieved when all of the letters have finally rolled out. Anticipation is killing me...

Man, even if I were lucky enough to be accepted or waitlisted, I still wouldn't know until tomorrow since mail takes so darn long to get down south. Here's to hoping that I don't find anything in my mailbox today.

what, maybe less than an hour until somebody might hear something? i'm buggin!

I'm with you, this is the day that I am really afraid of my mail. I'm glad I haven't gotten anything yet, but I know today would probably be my day anyway.

I did not apply to Harvard but this thread is exciting to read 🙂

Any Harvard premeds here? I imagine they'll be the first to hear (due to proximity, not necessarily favored status)...

*shudder*...I really do wish we could get these via email or online, like law schools or MCAT scores. At least I could prepare myself before I clicked.

I'm going downstairs to wait for my mail. 😱

Never in my life have I been so happy to not get any mail 😀

Has anyone called to confirm that acceptances went out yesterday?

I just tried, but it disconnected my cell phone once I hit "5"... and I don't have long distance on my regular phone. The number is (617) 432-1550 and then press "5" to speak to a member of the staff, if anyone else wants to try.

Well, class (or maybe luch now) would be my bet. But we're more important than food! Heck, I'll buy you lunch, Mateo, if you do some more "daspy"-ing for us!

I would celebrate if I didn't have anything by now. However, I think I remember reading that last year some rejections letters never went out. But it was only a few, and I would say 99.9% chance they corrected that problem (may be why they sent rejections out early this year).
