Hi, I'm looking for advice since I don't know what to do. I'm currently a 2nd Year DPT student (just finished 3rd semester) in Pakistan and I am at my absolute lowest now.
I have been interested and passionate about Medicine(Anesthesia) since 9th Grade but due to some reasons I couldn't get into medical school last year and had to go for DPT. I have never been a fan of DPT for myself, always hated it and never saw myself pursuing it. It's an amazing field and i like it for others but I just never saw it for myself and like I said, never saw or will ever see myself live my life as a PT. I dread studying for physical therapy related subjects like ergonomics or biomechanics etc but I do so well in Anatomy and other Medical related subjects since they gain my interest more quickly. I would rather be doing anything but put any effort in it. Everyone in my class seems to be better at it and find it interesting.
Should I go for medical school this year? Is it too late for me now because i've already studied over a year and some of the subjects taught in Medical school? It costs alot of money for physical therapy and even more in medical school. I don't care about the earnings later on and I always think of Anesthesiology for myself better than PT. My parents did give me an option to go for it if I want to, but my mother is more inclined towards DPT while my father left the choice on me and I can't decide for myself.
My schedule so far isn't complex and IF I attempt the Medical school entrance procedure, I will have to study the University material along with the entrance test material. Another thing that comes in is that the entrance tests are usually in September and my 4th semester will start most probably in the last week of July and 4th semester finals will be in December giving me around 2.5/3 months solely for the entrance test preparation and I can cover up the University material later on or alongside.
WHAT DO I DO?
