hmm..interesting...i was talking to a student at HMS and he was like "don't get all frazzled if you don't receive anything tomorrow.." i don't think they're behind..i think maybe the USPS is just bootleg... i live literally 8 minutes walking from HMS...but i think boston's mail system may be a little jacked up.. 😕

The Bostonians have not yet gotten anything? How could it take more than two days for local mail? I guess that those of us elsewhere shouldn't hear until Thursday, then. What is up with the USPS these days?!?

Not to continue the ethical discussion, but I looked up the definition of hacker: it's "one who uses programming skills to obtain illegal access to a computer network or file". That was clearly not happening here, so I think we can put that discussion to rest.

And so, the neuroticism will continue... for another 2+ days?!?!

hmmm...i am definitely overthinking this..but what if they sent out the out-of-state and western mass ones yesterday and then the locals today...just so the receiving process would be a little more even..hmm..maybe..just maybe.. but it looks as if tomorrow will be the earliest anyone will hear.. 🙁

Is there any chance that they'd delay the sending of the letters while they investigate the situation? I'm certainly not suggesting that there's any wrongdoing involved in looking at a publicly-available admissions site, or that there would be any consequences to applicants, but I know that they do care a lot about the integrity of the process. I'm sure they were quite upset in gordon hall when the potential early leak became known...

Am I completely off base here? Yeah, I think that the boston ps is more likely the cause, but just thought I'd throw this out here...

no..he didn't know anything about the website...when i told him about it, he told me not to put to much stock in it b/c even once he was accepted, he had trouble logging on to the financial aid website...but anyway,, he says they always have e-flukes over there..sooo EVERYONE..hang in there..

Upstate ny reprezent. I'm from there but in boston now, and have gotten nill from HMS today...although the place where my mailbox is gets an early and later delivery sometimes. No one else in boston heard anything?

As for the mail timing - I think it partly depends on whether they went straight to the post-office and dropped them off or sent them through the campus post system. I'm pretty sure that the later could add a day to the delivery time.

Also, mailing everything yesterday could very easily mean dropping them off right before 5 PM. If that's the case the local mail might be sorted today, but it would probably be by the end of today, i.e., delivery tomorrow.

I do know that those of us in middle america (and probably similarly for the West coast) probably can't expect anything until at least thursday. My old company sent me a letter from Boston last Friday, and it arrived here in OK on Tuesday. That's 2 days transit time in addition to the day it was sent and the day it arrives.

Plus, it took Duke's letter all the way from Monday to Saturday to reject me. 🙁

I really think schools should give us a priority mail option - you know, tack on 5 bucks to our secondary fees if we elect to have our results delivered to us by FedEx overnight or something.

according to the recorded message on the admissions office voicemail, yes they were all mailed yesterday. it was in the past tense so i assume they made that message last night or today. it says not to contact them unless you haven't recieved anything by the 21st....and i guess im not all that surprised we didn't get them today, especially if they were mailed out at 5pm (afternoon time when mail gets taken from my hospital right down the street) or missed the 5pm mailing and went out today.

Hm...two years ago when a friend of mine got his decision in the mail from HMS it looked like it was sent low-class mail, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 3-5 days even for boston/cambridge people to get their answer.
