During my second year of dental school I took off my mind from dental school for a few minutes a day by finishing my basement. I am in third year now and I take clinic pretty darn seriously. My schedule is very busy now and I don't have time to do anything else. I barely have time to study for exams. What do other students do during the day to relax and take a break from clinic??

Work out if that's a thing for you.
It can really take the edge off.

Video games. Easy to pick up. Can do it from home. I highly recommend.

Set up dates throughout the week. Coffee/arcades/minigolf usually takes up 1-2 hours. If no dates or friends who want to go out then anime and PC games.

WORKOUT! You had time before and you still have time. Make time! Hit the gym and stay light on the weights if you're doing it to lower your cortisol levels, so you're not sore the next day. Everything that relieves stress will take time.

I played in a community orchestra during my last year of dental school since I had more time. It definitely took my mind off of school for a few hours each week.

Exercise is always great. I used to run around the Boston Common as well as hit the gym.

My last 2 years at DS. I studied hard for 5-6 days. PT job at a local Gold's Gym with some work out time available. I also played tennis/golf on good weather days. Gotta balance work/play. My 2 years at Ortho residency. Studied all the time, but still found time to golf once or twice a month. The other residents often went skiing. Anything to balance work (study) and play.

I went back home and see family and friends I grew up with for the holidays and long weekends. I lived with 2 of my classmates for 4 years during DS and we always did something every weekend... from exploring restaurants and being a food critic (Boston had so much to explore) to getting a free ride to Casino’s from Chinatown, or having friends visit from out of town and just kicking with them when I had free time. Create a calendar and plan fun things in advance - will give you something to look forward to.

In my day...
Pick up basketball every Tuesday night and Landscaping Job every Saturday.
