I received an interview invitation in March!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
UC Davis interview too...all of April appears to be open

I received a call from the director of recruitment at Rush offering me a spot to interview on Monday 3/26. This is the last interview day but she told me that this interview is not for a spot on the waitlist and that they are still sending out acceptances. I'm a non-trad that didn't understand the system and did not get my applications in early and only applied to 4 schools because I'm limited to the Chicago area...so this is my only interview! I'm so excited...I finally got to post here! Now I really have to knock their socks off!

I got an interview invite from Drexel today. It has been literally 4 months since my last invite. Needless to say, I was a little suprised to get it.

does drexel email you, or do you have to check your status on their site?

Davis, 4/2, see you guys there!

Too bad I'll be in philly and can't pick 4/2...

I emailed for 4/6 at UC-davis...anyone know if this is for a waitlist or for acceptance?

UC Davis seemed to be on a role today!

Drexel sends out batches of e-mails to notify people of interview invites. I'm pretty sure that if you check regularly, you may see an interview appear as much as a week or two before getting the e-mail.

Drexel emailed me and then told me to schedual it on the website. So im guessing checking both places would work. Good luck 🙂

Hello,
Just wanted to post some good news, as well as express my continued confusion and frustration over the whole med admission process.
A little about myself, I took the MCAT in August, and upon finding out my scores in October, decided to submit my med applications for this year, having completed secondary for 30 schools, since I am a California resident, in January 2007. My stats: MCAT=34R, GPA=3.6, BCPM=3.5, and I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2006. Anyways, after submitting my secondarys, I literally got rejections within a week, even from my "backup schools", and felt like I was getting ripped off by the medical schools, as well as wondering if they even bothered to look at my apps. This constant barrage of rejections has steadily continued till last week, where within a time span of 2 days, I got 5 interview invitations at the following schools: Davis, St. Louis, Buffalo, Drexel, Minnesota. Just wanted to post this to provide hope to others that are still waiting, even though I know my chances for acceptances are still slim.
Really, I just want to know how these admissions procedures really work. I mean Davis and St. Louis are some of my top tier schools, and to get an interview invite from them is a honor for me, but, to get rejections from other bottom tier schools, such as Creighton and George Washington, has made me really confused as to how these procedures really work.

Congrats on getting interview invitations!! However, to call GW or Creighton "bottom-tier" is a little snobbish and judgemental. If they are so-called "bottom-tier", then why did you apply to them?

You never know what a school is looking for in an applicant. Also, some schools reject people who are above their normal stats to keep their matriculation stats high (they figure you won't go there anyway, so they reject you before you can reject them). Bottom line is, this process is really really random so be happy you got interview invites (congrats!) and don't fret over the rejections. Good :luck: on your interviews!

When were you complete at Minnesota?

Sorry about the comments about GW and Creighton. When I meant bottom tier, I was trying to imply that these were schools that I would consider as my "so-called backups", schools where my MCAT and GPA made me extremely competitive according to my premed advisor (shows how little they really know). It wasn't meant to be a comment about the quality of the school and etc. Sorry to any people that I may have offended.

I felt the same way! I got rejected from a lot of my "back ups" and interviews and a lot of my "reach" schools, go figure.

I'm surprised your premed advisor didn't tell you that GW in particular (and many other similar schools) is notorious for screening out people using it as a backup, or anyone not doing a great job at showing their interest.

In regards to Minnesota, I recieved my secondary in December, and completed it by the first week of January. Hope that helps.

I just got a SLU invite for April 30th. Probably for a waitlist spot, but since it's close to home, I scheduled it anyway.

I just a SLU interview invite too. Planning on turning it down... are they crazy??? I'm about to buy a house where I'm going!

Albany Medical College interview invite. I chose April 19. I'm surprised they're still interviewing...

Drexel invite. They allow you to schedule into the first week of May.

Before it gets closed. April fool's day is almost here 😀
