Please post the interviews that are sending rejections out here.

The format is as follows:
University of ABC- screenname, screenname
University of DEF- screenname, screenname

This will hopefully facilitate communication better amongst us. I will list all of mine, promise!

No, many programs do not send out a rejection letter....

i just got an email (not through eras but directly) saying something to the extent of....the PD has reviewed your application and a interview was not granted..we will keep your application for future reference. that's a rejection right? i guess being from a top 40 med school and getting a 230+ isn't enough to get programs to wait for a transcript. oh well.

What it is, is annoying. I honestly can't tell you whether that's a rejection or not. It kinda sounds like one (no interview), but then it kinda doesn't (keep your app for future reference). I think I'd rather just not hear anything than hear this.

And to iNcorruptible: No, unfortunately, many programs can't be bothered to even send a courtesy rejection email. Would take all of about 3 seconds. For the record, I'm still waiting on rejections for both residency and fellowship from a certain Bay Area program (that doesn't have UC in it's name).

To be very honest, the rejection helps, at least for me. Especially for a program that you are keen to go to. Because then you can just delete a potential slot from your schedule that you would've rather kept for that program, while planning your other interviews in that area.

Oh trust me, I'd rather hear a rejection than nothing. But I'd rather hear nothing than the BS sk8bored got.

I got a rejection letter from UCLA today after getting an interview invite last month. Did anyone else get this letter? Its wierd that they rejected me before even interviewing there!

I got an interview invite from UCLA today, and then 30 minutes later another message saying that the invite was a result of an ERAS glitch, and that my application was still under review. Clearly they are having issues with their system. I would guess that your rejection letter was a mistake also, because it doesn't make any sense to offer an interview and then give a rejection.

I am pretty pissed about this. I was super excited to get the invite. I can't imagine how they could let this kind of mistake happen.

same here. Not sure what was up with their computers. The grammar in the explanation emails were awful as well.

No, I think I know what the problem is now. I didn't schedule for an interview in their program! I guess they wanted the last word.

I am not sure why I applied to a few programs on the west coast when I really want to stay in the midwest area, and I intentionally didn't schedule interviews in programs that are too far away till the end of this month and see how much this process is going to cost me. By the way, I got that email too, thats pretty mean to send invites to people who wanted to go to UCLA and moments later be told my bad!

Maybe not...some people who already had invites (well, Frugal, anyway) got another invite, so maybe we're all in UCLA's "acceptable" pool. hahahaha...oh, the wonders of magical thinking

I'm angry about this too. I told my Mom, who told my Dad, only for me to call back later saying that it's a glitch. If they want to reject me, that's fine, but at least have some respect for the applicants.

I had a similar experience with another great program for one of their tracks. Luckily, I waited till my date was confirmed to spread the joyous news...turned out it was a glitch! After that, I dont spill the beans till I have an interview date in my hands. And I could swear that for the next few invites after that experience, every invite I received, I felt like including a PS ' Are you sure, or is this a glitch? 😉'

Yeah, I guess it's lesson learned. Next time, I'll definitely wait at least till I get an interview date, but it's hard when the program is one of your top choices.

I actually got the invite by email yesterday, followed by the "sorry we messed up" email 30 min later, but it didn't say that my application was still under review...and i actually got a letter in the mail today...so i am "OFFICIALLY" rejected hehe...no more doubting that...i don't think 😛

Oh and I definitely had told my parents and responded by the time I got the glitch email...it was such a high...then such a low...and then a lot of laughing hehe

Northwestern rejected me today, their email had a funny title: "Regarding your application at Northwestern". Granted, I had completely forgotten about both Chicago schools as I have gone mad trying to balance my current interviews.

Oh well, its the first of what are sure to be many rejections this season 😉

Same here. Guess they weren't in the market for what I was sellin.' Intrigued by the whole crapshootness of this whole process.

Somehow got invites from Penn and BIDMC, and then a rejection from Northwestern in span of 24 hours.

I'm in a similar boat- I got a Beth Israel invite and then within a couple hours the Northwestern rejection.

This process is just funny

UCSF 🙁🙁 I really wanted to go there, and I pushed up my step II just to have a chance. Guess I can take it with my friends now. Boooo! Luckily I loved Vandy, so all is definitely not lost

I recall reading about this in the threads from last year.. they cleaned up the spelling since then but still have the notion that some of the people they reject will give up medicine b/c of it lol

What's even more hilarious is that Henry Ford copied this reject and used it as theirs, adding some spice to it - in addition to the EXACT above lines, was we simply cannot interview all the candidates whose applications we received (over 3200).

And condescending - this? Read the Henry Ford addendum - PLEASE DO NOT CALL US (in caps I think).

long time reader, 1st time poster. and my first post is pure excitement....i got rejected by columbia. it was like a slap in the face i tell ya.

but a question- why do so few people have columbia interviews on the thread? did they just not send em out yet. who sends out mass rejections before their mass invitations?

I did not get rejected by Columbia... haven't heard from them either... I'll have to see. At this point, even if they paid me to go there, I wouldn't... don't have time. I think all the NYC programs are great, and that is probably why Columbia and the others can wait so long. It's location, location, location.

Columbia rejection here too. A little surprised by this, I wonder how much school pedigree matters... Oh well, got the 3 Harvards, Penn and Hopkins, so no complaints from me!

Yeah it is odd. I got a Columbia interview, but definitely don't go to powerhouse medical school.

On the flip side, this is waaaay better than medical school applications/interviews.

FYI all (as I've gotten 3PM's already); Independent applicants (IMG's, DO's, Graduated AMG's)can accept prematch offers and it is not an NRMP violation. Non-graduated AMG's are not allowed to prematch unless they have already graduated from medical school. Google for more info, I didn't find any great websites to post here tho...
