IM Official Rejection 2010-2011 Thread

Has JHU-Bayview sent out all their rejections? I still haven't heard from them. I got rejected from the main program just now.
 
I guess I wasn't cut out to be an Osler Marine - Johns Hopkins this morning.

Oh well!
 
Have people been getting many interviews post Dean's letters? Or is the season winding down?

Basically, to paraphrase: We looked at your file, it's not up to par. There are clearly people that think highly of you, it's just that none of them are at Hopkins. But just because we rejected you, it doesn't mean you have to quit medicine. Good luck with life.

hahaha this made me laugh. :laugh: especially because it's so accurate.
 
With step 1 of 250, and top 15 of my class, I cannot break into top 10 IM programs with piling rejections, I am disappointed!

just received the same email from JHU ... they loose !!! 😀
 
Hopkins for me today too.
 
I don't think so. I just got an invite from them the other day.

I feel like Medicine is just really competitive this year. Clearly I don't have much to go off on except snippets I hear from friends, but I feel like sooo many people are applying.

Thanks! I hadn't contacted them at all- maybe they figured I wasn't interested or something. The email said that their interview spots were filled.

Anybody know how many interview invites MSSM in NYC offers? The info is not on Frieda. Thanks.

have u emailed the program director +/- program coordinator and say you love their program? if you haven't, im sure this will help you in some way

Nope, not yet. I have a pretty good number of invites now so am not going to bother emailing them. But am just curious why they are so silent though! Besides, if they did not invite me earlier they probably will not rank me anyway even if they send me an invite after I email them!

That's not true... I've heard a few stories of people matching to places that they got interviews at, after emailing them. Top tier programs too.

For being a top IM program, the folks at UPenn need to learn how to use spell check.
 
WOOT two rejections w/in a half hour. I suppose they were reaches to begin with anyways:
-JHU Bayview
-Yale New Haven
 
Who else is waiting to hear from JHU-Bayview categorical? No word yet. hmmm..
 
UPenn for me too. Today was a big day for them.
 
Just got my BIDMC rejection. When I e-mailed the program earlier, they said that they had 400 more applications than last year. So apparently 240+ step 1/AOA is not enough for interviews anymore? Is anyone else worried about the match this year?
 
UCSF today.

I heard there was a big jump in medicine applicants this year, but I'm hoping that will affect interviews more than the match.

Anyone else breathe a small sigh of relief to finally hear something? Here's to finalizing our interview trail and the great programs where we will match!
 
Any further news on Yale? I have neither an interview invite nor a rejection from them so far. Do the still have spots open and are they still inviting? What about Cornell and other big NYC programs?

BIDMC for me today.
 
I feel like the NYC programs have been pretty quiet. Granted, some of them are reach schools for me, but I definitely expected more responses by now from the hospitals in the city of Manhattan.
 
UPenn, UCSF, and BIDMC from a couple days ago. At least they had the courtesy to let me know.

anyone been rejected by columbia yet? i havent heard either way...
