IM residency LOR

So I was thinking of asking my general surgery preceptor (spent 6 weeks with just me and him) to write me an LOR. But I'm applying for internal medicine. Is this a bad idea? Should I just get 2 mediocre letters from my IM clerkship director and one of the IM attendings who wont remember me.

I don't remember the requirements for letters, except that I used a non-specialty related letter and it was fine because it was glowing
glowing letters beat mediocre letters any day of the week except you need to meet whatever are the requirements on where letters come from first
