Interview Invites

How about Alameda County Med/Highland Hospital ?
In case anyone knows about VA Palo Alto please let me know too. Thanks a bunch

I havent heard back from VA Nevada. I'm so tempted to email the resident and ask when they will tell us but I'm controlling it...

VA Nevada contacted via phone for on-site interviews the week after the screening call.

Great response, I wish all the RPDs think that way. After my interviews I was going crazy thinking I was "too comfortable" and not nervous enough which might come across as arrogant!!! Or don't want this bad enough!

Thank you so much for posting this. Seriously. I'm going through the same boat, myself! I've already snagged my first year residency, but I'm going through the match process for the first time for my second year. I keep asking myself: "Was I too informal?" "Did I seem to prepared?" "Did it look like I didn't want this enough because things jived so well?" You've definitely helped ease some of my fears. Thanks!

Has anyone heard from Loma Linda Univ. Medical Center PGY1?

I interviewed with someone who just came from their Loma Linda interview.

btw, what's with the influx of new accounts created solely for this thread/forum?

How appropriate is it for them to ask you what other places you applied to? I got asked this on my interview last week and it took me by surprise but I did not ramble off lists of places i just said general things like "programs w X Opportunities" very brief.

It's probably not a very common question but still fair game. I think it's more for the programs to understand what kind of program you're looking for (or if you are applying all over the place across the board)

as a courtesy, i've been writing thank you notes to the interviewers of the programs that I was really fond of. I have one coming up with two separate panels of 7 interviewers that are 30 min each. Would you write a thank you to each of those folks? The note would likely say the same thing for all.

I am not sure what programs like, but like you I found it completely unrealistic to mail 10+ notes for the programs so I have been emailing sincere, personal notes and hoping they share the same mindset that I have.

I get handwritten notes from about half the interviewies - a note isn't going to save you from a crappy interview, and won't disqualify you if you are a great interview. But ti cannot hurt, I would take email just as sincere as a written note in today's world, althought I am not sure if everyone has this same philosophy. It you write something program specific, if may (read "may") give you a small boost if we are debating you vs another candidate.

excellent advice yet again. thank you!

Another rejection yesterday evening - no surprise there as match is in two weeks...I had written it off as a loss anyway, but I am a bit surprised that these programs are actually still contacting people!

I'm withdrawing from the Match, but I wanted to say Good Luck to everyone participating!

What????? Why????

@Tink14 I also withdrew; I was told that if I had no interviews and, therefore, no rank order list, that I must withdraw. Apparently I can still scramble if I wish (considering it depending on what is available, but I have a job offer). May I also ask why you withdrew?

I forgot my log in when I originally tried to reply to this, so I will now... 6 months later.

In all honestly, I withdrew because once I started interviewing and things became more "real" I just could not see myself completing a residency. Residencies are pushed HARD at my school... I know they're pushed hard at pretty much every school... but they're really pushed super super super hard. I still love the more clinical stuff we can do, but I prefer the am care/outpatient setting over the hospital/acute side, and I feel like I can still get satisfaction and make a difference with my knowledge in a setting that doesn't require a residency. Also, some hospitals in Atlanta still hire staffing pharmacists without one, and I was worried that after I did a year of residency I would still not be able to find a job in the field I wanted. I wanted to secure a long term job asap.

All of my intern experience was in retail, and honestly I like it. I am comfortable there and I know what I am doing. I thought my rotations would show me what I needed for residency, but I didn't have any really clinical rotations (except one) until February! I realized that it just wasn't for me.

I'll be working in an outpatient pharmacy inside of an am care medical center (doctor's offices at a health plan) so it worked out almost too perfectly. It did take a bit of time to get the job though.

I worked at a place similiar to that when in school - I really really liked it. at our place it was 9-6 m-w, no holidays, no weekends, 1.7 FTE Rph's, usually 2-3 techs/interns at all times, and our busiest day ever was 135 - I am guessing no CVS/Walmart/Walgreens can compete with that!

I have interview at VCU on saturday. my gpa is 3.43 and pcat 14%. biology and chemistry 402. i did super bad in english part. Can anybody tell me about my chances to get into vcu with this stat.. I would appreciate your truth.
