(I actually almost went there for undergrad, but I was OOS and I was/am completely in love with my current school 🙂)
 
Just posting quickly to say that I have decided to go to Mississippi over Iowa. It was a tough choice but I want to do small animal medicine and I think that is something Mississippi is more focused on. Still got my fingers crossed for those waiting! :xf:

Yep, they still called some folks today (I checked with Brenda), they are in the mid-forties! 😍

Hey SDN people! Sorry I was late to the show here, but I just found out about this site. I will be going to Iowa State Vet School come next fall!! Hope I can get to know at least some of you before hand!

Is there a facebook group yet for the Class of 2015? If not someone should hit that up!
 
Hey I decided to not call today and check on the waitlist. I know they aren't past the 50s yet, so there would be little good news for me. I figure it may take them a while to get to the 70s so I will give it some time before I call. I don't want to get my hopes up when there is still such a long way to go.

Just in case you didn't see, they got up to 46 on Friday! (Farmgirl called!).

Yes, there is still lots of hope🙂, I remember at my interview I talked to a lot of alternates and one had been number 78. I think she said she got called like 2 days before graduation (mid-May), so hang in there! I also know another girl who got the call mid June. I know it sounds like forever, but we have until almost the end August to be called off the list, a lot of things can happen between now and then, so dont lose hope🙂.
 
I just got the call 15 minutes ago!!!! I can't believe it! They must be flying through the list! They are into the 50s!!! I hope you get your call today to drforwhiskers:luck::xf:!!!!! I know you are going to get good news soon too awaring!!!

I'm going to have a heart attack!!! I hope they get to me today, too, since I'm only a few after you!!!

Of course I have a class in 20 minutes, but I'm skipping (won't be missing anything important) so I can answer the phone.

Annnnnnnnd I have Anatomy Lab final so I can justify it by saying I'm studying 😍😍😍😍😍

I changed my mind and decided that I wanted to call and see how many seats were left. I am too nervous (thinking the answer may be bad and may ruin my day) so I had my boyfriend call. They must not have many guys on the list because the first thing they told him was that they can't give out numbers to people not on the list. :laugh:


Maybe I will find the strength to call later. I just have a very busy week and I am worried that I will put myself in a terrible mood and won't be able to focus on work. But then again the wondering aspect is making me not able to focus either...

I have tried to call Brenda but it goes straight to voicemail so I think they are at lunch.

Are we ISU hopefuls a little too neurotic? I notice that this thread has been at the top of the page way more than some others. :laugh:

Hey guys! I emailed Brenda and asked for an update. This is what she said:

We are at alternate 53. The next one to call is 54. It's been kind of slow right now as there are offers out but the deadline to verbally accept is today and tomorrow at 5pm. Once we start receiving their deposits I should have a better idea of how many spots are available. I wish I could be more exact. Please feel free to keep checking back.

I definitely think you and everyone else waiting will hear some good news soon! I looked at last years threads and the list seems to be moving much faster comparatively! Make sure you tell us as soon as you hear!!!

No 🙁 I e-mailed her yesterday, and she said 54 was next, and it was a little slow going because there was a deadline yesterday and today at 5.

I really hope its not filled. I want to email her again (she said I could check back whenever), but I don't want to come off as desperate.

It is making me really nervous that the list hasn't moved even a few spots...

I emailed her yesterday and was also told that they were on 53. She told me that there were some offers out but they were not done filling the class. I don't really know if that means that they are still not done filling the class even with the offers out or not.

I got that same answer yesterday, as well. I did decide to email her about half an hour ago, so we'll see.

It's not necessarily a waitlist "death sentence" if the class is already full. Calls have only been going out for around a week, right? So it's still early in the game! People may get accepted elsewhere and give up their seat, etc... in all likelihood the list will continue to move throughout the summer (just not as rapidly as it has been moving). I know at least one member of my class was called off the waitlist in late July/early August (not sure which).

My advice? Don't pay so much attention to how the list is moving or how close your number is to the last known number called... that way you can be super ecstatic if/when you are called instead of disappointed/nervous that you haven't been called when you were sure it was coming soon based on the numbers.

I apologize if this comes across negatively or something like that -- I do hope you guys get good news! I'm just trying to ease some of the nervousness.

I always tell myself that I will take this advice, but it is so damn hard.

But then again, the anxiety associated with watching the list like a hawk has also taken its toll.
