I have informed medical schools about my publication being accepted/"in press" in my secondaries. Now that it is in print, is this a "substantial update"?
I agree with @Goro. If your paper was accepted, it's going to be published, and that happens independent of any further effort on your part.
If, on the other hand, your paper got yanked after initially being accepted, then yeah, we'd be pretty interested in that. But not in a way that you'd like.
