I've got 8 weeks left. I've already finished FA, and will be finished with USMLE World within a few weeks. I'll go through FA X 3, and will be doing Kaplan Q bank as well.

What I want to know is, everyone at my school makes Goljans sound like I have to read it do do great on the Step...like there is no other option. Is this really true? Do you have to read a pathology book (like GRRP or BRS Path) to do great or are FA and the Q banks enough? Just curious.

What would you do if you were in my position? I just don't want to second guess my self down the line.

For those interested, my goal is getting >235.

8 weeks of pure studying for boards or 8 weeks before the test in which you'll be going to class and studying for classes as well? If you've got 8 weeks then why not pick up a path book considering the fact that you've already finished FA once through and will finish USMLE world within a couple weeks. I'm sure there are people out there who've done fine without Goljan, but the majority of my peers said they wouldn't have gone without it (listening to his lectures at the very least).

In order to NOT 2nd guess yourself down the line then I would do Goljan, at the very least the audio. His audio makes patho as easy as breathing air, his book is alright, (I listen to the audio to hear what he's about to discuss, then pause and quickly skim the section so I have an outline in my head, then let Goljan do his magic, He integrates a lot of subjects and the great thing is he explains it in a way where you actually understand why things present the way they do). To be honest I do read BRS patho afterwards and I do like the BRS book better than the Goljan text as it elaborates more. But the Goljan audio is priceless!

So in summary I take a shot of Goljan text w/ audio and chase w/ BRS path, hey I'm always looking for someone new to share a drink with so I'll save you a seat if you decide to do this. Good luck w/ your studies!

If you have 8 free full weeks that is a ****load of time.
If you're smart enough, you could easily get a 260 without goljan. BRS Path is great. If you KNOW (not memorize) everything in FA you're set. With 8 weeks I would at least read through one of the two.

I would also save 500 or so questions of UW for the last couple of weeks. Going back to other qbanks from UWorld is hard. Nice to save some quality difficult questions for right before the exam.

Why would it be hard to go to another qbank, say kaplan, after USMLEWORLD? I would think it would be easier due to world being the hardest qbank? Thanks for the reply
