Hi I am a Foreign trained dentist from India. I have been offered an internship program in Orthodontics, which the school wants me to do on J-1 visa. After attending the visa interview, I was told that I am subject to a 2 year home country residency requirement before I can apply for a H-1B visa, i.e., after 3 yr Masters Program on F-1 Visa.
I am writing to find out if International Dentists, and Dental Specialists ( Orthodontists ) can find jobs in Conrad 30 J-1 Visa Waiver programs in the US. I know it is applicable to International Medical Graduates, but I am not able to find any information about the opportunities for International Dentists that have this clause due to the J-1 Visa.
I tried reaching out to the State Health Departments but I haven't received any response from them.
I am very confused whether I should accept the internship or is it going to adversely affect me when it comes to working in the US.
If anyone has any idea regarding the J-1 Visa waiver program from dentists / dental specialists, please share your knowledge and help me make a decision!
Thanks in advance!!!!

Good afternoon. Do you realise that what you are talking could be consider Illegal Immigration or at least irregular? Reported to Moderator. Pretty sure this isn't the purpose of the forums.

You need an immigration lawyer.
I don't think dental can get the j1 waiver.
It's for keeping IMGs and itsi very limited.
See if they'll do a f1.

Curious if you know if the J1-waiver can be done for OMFS w/ MD?
I'm a Canadian citizen.

Thanks

Good point.

I'm on a F1 during med school and then a J1 until the end of residency, but will probably apply for the TN for job purposes post-residency. I never really looked into this stuff.
