I submitted my secondary and my payment to JHU a while ago and received confirmation that it was received but I have not received confirmation that my letters of recommendation have been received. So I called their admissions office and they say, in no uncertain terms, "Do not call or email to ask about a status check." They said they would be sending a notice that applicants are complete or letting them know what they are lacking but I haven't gotten anything. Now the deadline for submitting the letters of rec (Dec. 30th) has passed and I still have not received word on whether or not they received them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

And, on a side note, does anyone know how some of these schools justify the hefty application fees yet provide hardly any service and others have much smaller fees and are incredibly helpful??

Thanks!

I'm in the exact same boat, only I never received any confirmation at all 😵; am curious what other people advise on this...

I'm in the same boat as well. But I really dont care anymore. There is no way that I am going to get an interview at JHU anyways.

What a waste of money...

I applied to Hopkins and have received an interview. I got two e-mails from them, one stating that they have received my secondary, and a full month later, that my application was complete. So they seem slow. Like just about all other med schools.

thanks ucsdhibiscus...i guess at this point since they dont want us to call we can only sit tight and HOPE everything got in on time...i kind of actually just want to make sure i made the deadline...

That is way not cool of them to check your app while you were on the phone. Very understandable concern. I had that same problem at UCI and they were very helpful. Schools could make this process much easier on us.

Some schools are decidedly nicer than others. That being said, Hopkins will get its pick of students regardless of how well they treat most applicants.

it's really simple, because they can! because they know no matter how high their fees are, kids will keep on applying because it's hopkins,

anyone know what their admissions email is? I looked through their website and couldn't find any? Was thinking of withdrawing since I've gotten into my state school

Greatness is not who you are, but how you treat others.
Should not they know it?

it doesn't work. Tried using it so many times.
It's [email protected]
I always get an error message, any time I try.

Even though I was accepted to Hopkins earlier this cycle, there are mainly 3 reasons I am considering other places:

1) Baltimore was not necessarily my cup of tea.
2) There admissions staff is just straight-up rude. That was a real turn off for me. At my interview I thought that the faculty I met were super nice. However, the staff was quite the opposite.
3) The reputation of super cut throat students also bothers me.

same thing- received but never complete. just to make sure, i resent my reccs, but i doubt they didn't get them- out of the 16 schools i applied to, they're the only one who magically hasn't received them. i'm assuming they spend more time on the candidates they expect to interview. i've heard from others that they sometimes will reject people and never send them a letter..
