👍👍👍 I bet you you did awesome! :xf::xf::xf::xf: for the next round of good news!

Haha mine was the same time! How did it go?

It went super! I left feeling very confident with all of my responses and managed a few smiles from the panel. The research I did was spot-on. Now to keep my fingers crossed. I think there's some very dynamic candidates, and I feel like one of them.

To those that have interviewed already do you have any advice on how to prepare? I've been looking over the questions that been posted in the references section on SDN and my application. Is that enough or should I be doing something else as well? This is my first interview so I'm really nervous and want to be as prepared as possible!

I just prepared to answer all the questions listed on SDN, and they asked me a few directly off there. The rest of the questions were mostly about my application, so I'd recommend rereading your VMCAS and making sure you're familiar with it!

I researched most of the questions that were on SDN (it was about 24 pages in a word file) and I think I over did it. But I guess its better to over prepare than to under prepare. They asked a few questions that were on SDN but as said above, most questions were based on my application.

The best advice I can give is to relax, relax, relax! I was very nervous for my Mizzou interview but I mellowed out a bit more for KSU and I was able to articulate my thoughts and ideas better. They really aren't trying to quiz you on anything. The setting is very chill and they just want to get to know you better.

Good luck! :luck:

So I still haven't received any snail mail letters regarding my interview last month... My friend who interviewed at the same time (also from IL) got hers Dec. 24. WHERE IS MINE???? I just want to know yay/nay/maybe? so I stop freaking. Well, that's a lie. I won't stop freaking until I know where I am going for sure. But, still. It would be nice to know already.

Come on kansas! I think it's a little late to be blaming the snow, don't ya think?

So I just got an email today with my interview invitation. Anyone else get this very late invite?

I didn't get mine that late but my invite came on 12/13/12 and my interview is on Jan 20th, which was later than many others. I guess everyone assumed that those were the last set of interview invites sent out for now.

Are you interviewing the weekend of Jan 19-20th as well?

So we don't send in fall transcripts until spring semester is over AND only if we are accepted right?

I think so. I found this on the website FAQs for admissions

"I am applying for admission in the fall. I was wondering when you would like fall transcripts to be sent to K-State by?
We do not require that fall transcripts be sent to us. We do require newly admitted students to send us final transcripts following posting of grades after the end of the spring semester."

anyone want to confirm that?

I emailed Janel and she said the same thing. You basically only have to send transcripts in spring if you are accepted and planning on attending

Yes, only send them in if you're accepted. Wait listed doesn't specify, but it doesn't hurt.

I'm kind of excited its snowing I've never actually seen snow fall from the sky. Native Floridian here, nervous too because my mom is coming with and she's a native also. I hope driving in snow won't be too difficult.

can someone please tell me where to find this list of possible interview questions? thanks!

Yes I am - Sunday the 20th to be precise! =)

Anyone who interviewed on the weekend of the 5th/6th heard anything yet? I know its soon but I see that some people got their letters postmarked within a week of an interview.

My acceptance letter was sent three days after my interview, which was on January 5. The letter is dated January 8, and I received it (in Texas) January 11.

😱 I wish I had not have asked lol

I think my interview went well...of course looking back I could say "oh I should have done this...or that" but I really did my best. I tried to focus on information that wasn't on my vmcas and let them really get to know ME...it was very personal and if that isn't the route I should have taken then oh well, no regrets 🙂

I know its all part of the game but I really hope I didnt empty my bank account for nothing on that interview

I think my interview went really well too! I thought I gave good answers and let them really get to know me. They seemed to like my answers too! I even made them laugh!

Now I am stressing.

I emailed Janel about not hearing anything after my Dec. 16 interview. She said that all of the notification letters should be sent after the last interview. So we should hear by Feb 1. I take this to mean that they need to compare me to the remaining interviewees to see if they can find anyone better before letting me know one way or the other. 🙁

Very excited/terrified for interviewing this weekend. I looked at the weather and it is suppose to be in the 50s this weekend in Manhattan. That seems like a heat wave compared to 20 degree Wisconsin weather I'm stuck in right now...

50s! Our highs were like 35 one day and 42 the next on our interview weekend!

Interview this weekend! Ah! Anyone else? 🙂

I have my interview on Saturday :scared: starting to freak out right about now hah

I have mine on Saturday as well. I'm scheduled at 10:15 - what time are you? I'm driving down Friday. It's going to be a long 9 hrs of nerves and excitement!

1:30 I think. Going to the pizza party that night?

Yep - I will be at the pizza party. I'm a little bummed my interview is in the morning since I would have liked to have taken to tour first but it is what it is.

Frozenshades - how long of a drive is that from Texas?

It's ~10 hours from my university, so I'm actually going to make the drive back to my parents house Thursday evening and then on to Kansas the next morning, and from there it will be ~7 hours. Works out because the best route from here pretty much goes right past my folk's place, and they're coming with me anyway; they want to see the campus and everything.

Mine is at 3:45 so I guess you are right before me!

🙂

Does anyone know if the Pizza Party has anything to do with your acceptance? It sounds lovely, and I adore free food, but I will be driving back to Chicago through the night and would rather leave sooner instead of later. However I will stay if it matters for my acceptance! Btw I'm driving down tomorrow! Crazy excited to get there, not so much for the 10 hour drive...

From my friend who interviewed at the beginning of January:

"So here's the deal for the pizza party.. Not really a party. Haha we were in a lecture hall and they had student ambassadors sit up front and answer questions."

If you look earlier in the thread, it's pretty much a relaxed Q&A that isn't required. It's more if you want to know more about the school from a student perspective.

I heard the pizza party is not mandatory and you don't sign in, so if you don't go they won't know or anything.

I didn't go to mine and still got in.

You should definitely consider going. While it may not sound too informative, you get first hand accounts of what its like to be a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year vet student at KSU. They get to fill you in on some deets you might not see on the admissions website. It prepared me much better for the interview process seeing as I had 0 idea of what I was getting myself into the first time. You can ask any burning questions you might not want to ask the adcom during the interview. I found it extremely helpful.

With that said, its not mandatory. You don't sign in. They won't even notice you're not there. 🙂 If you're lazy like me and didn't look anything up before hand (other than questions, of course), its worth going.

PS. if you do go, don't ask dr. elmore if OOS students can get IS tuition ever like some girl did in my pizza party crew. If you can find the answer on the website, don't ask! just my 2 cents!

Good Luck everyone on their interviews this weekend! 🙂

Had my interview yesterday and I can't wait to hear back!! Ugh I wish we could hear back right away haha I am terrible at waiting patiently 😳

I just interviewed yesterday and I wanted to just say how impressed I was with everything at K-State! I honestly was not expecting so much hospitality and sincerity from everyone who was there. The campus is beautiful (and the weather was surprisingly mild) and everything ran so smoothly. The shuttle service they provided from the hotels was great and meeting all the students was a great insight to what the classes must be like. I had such a great experience, regardless of the outcome! I hope everyone's interviews went well, everyone walking out seemed to have nailed it.

There was definitely a mother in the front of the room that asked about gaining IS residency this past weekend. Everyone kind of looked around wondering why people don't read the website.

Saw that. Ha. My dad was the man who couldn't hear a damn thing and asked them to repeat the questions. Way to go Dad. :/

Yeahhhh, I thought the majority of those questions were pretty useless. Not all, but mostly. Oh well, worth the free pizza

I think I was on the same tour as both of you - did you go around 11 on Saturday? Small world.
