I feel like the remaining OOSers (like me, ) are SOL 🙁 Personally, I wish they would just let me know. They made it sound like I wasnt that far off the mark last year.

Uh, so did anyone else get an email from K state? Mine sounded like I got waitlisted for an interview.. or that if they decided to do more interviews I will probably receive one... ?
 
I got an email too saying the same thing about interviews. I don't know either if its a waitlist for an interview or if everyone got it.
 
They send that out to everyone, but you're right in that it is a wait list of sorts. They have offered interviews after this before. 🙂

When did all of you receive the e-mail? If it was today, I still have not received one. 🙁:scared:

Probably 🙁 Good thing Ive been prepping for a Cornell rejection next week... It'll make another one a little easier... Maybe... 🙁

I received an e-mail a few hours after someone else had posted about receiving the "interview waitlist" e-mail. Sounds like they weren't all sent out at the same time. The e-mail felt pretty much like a rejection e-mail anyways 🙁
 
I am a little confused about the email people got... Is it a good thing if we didn't get one? Like we are still in contention for an interview? Or are we completely rejected, without the possibility of a waitlist for an interview?
 
When I applied last year I received an email that said "From approximately 1,300 applicants for the veterinary Class of 2016 Kansas State University, about 350 were selected based on composite GRE scores and science GPA's for interviews. Unfortunately you were not selected for an interview..."

If they do it the same way this year, the email should specify if you were not chosen for an interview.

And yes I did keep all my rejection letters/emails from last year as motivation for this year.
 
I agree, it seems like a rejection letter to me than waitlisted interview.. if everyone gets this email then I'm just going to think of it a rejection rather than having false hope.

Lol I just got it. It's a "you're preeeetty much rejected, but JUST IN CASE we can't fill our class, we'll just put your app in this pile right here" kind of letter.

hahaha that was pretty funny. Don't be down by this everyone. At least they put it in "kind" words if you get what I mean.

yeah, I got that email too. It's funny how wishy-washy they are about the whole thing! But I am not holding on to any hope of an interview with K- State . 🙁
 
So I looked at last year's letter, and mine was a for sure rejection letter. It read:
"From approximately 1,300 applicants for the veterinary Class of 2016 at Kansas State University, about 350 were selected based on composite GRE scores and science GPA's for interviews. Unfortunately, you were not selected for an interview. If you have questions regarding how you can become a more competitive applicant for the Class of 2017, please feel free to contact..."

This year's letter reads:
"From approximately 1,200 applicants for the veterinary Class of 2017 at Kansas State University, about 350 were selected based on composite GRE scores and science GPA's for interviews. Please be aware that although you were not selected for an interview at this time, the application cycle is not complete until we have filled our class. Therefore, we will keep your file active should our admissions committee wish to interview more applicants at a later time.

Its not a "Rejection," but pretty darn close.

If you look at last year "Alternate Survivors" thread:
"Kansas: jushorsinaround (call 4/17) helloxkitty22 ( call 4/17 OOS ), Escalla (call 4/18 OOS), missdvm(call 5/21, OOS)" ...I think they had to scramble to fill some seats. Compared to other posts for other schools, they were one of the last ones to be working on filling their class.

Hmm it's interesting... so does that mean everyone who's getting this email is about 99% rejected? and when it doesn't fill up, they'll be "booty-calling" those who received their email? :annoyed:
 
I was accepted last year and didn't apply this year, just trying to be helpful. 🙂 The email was sent out somewhere around the 13th of Dec last year I believe. There were some that were invited after and from the posts, last years letter seems to be less hopeful. I received an invite before this point, so I don't know why only some received it and whether of not its a good/bad thing. If you want to think of the wait list as a booty call, cool but they're at least filling their interview spots instead of letting them go empty. I don't know if that's something to be upset about.

I understand their point of view and I'm certainly not hating on them. The letter is somewhat ambiguous and I don't want to have false hope. I'm just waiting to hear back from other schools. Thanks for the hopeful message :]
 
So I went back and looked at the past two years, and it looks like people who interviewed the first weekend received their acceptance letters via snail mail this coming weekend...😱
 
Since December is over now, I'm assuming if we haven't heard anything at this point it means we are rejected? 🙁

... and to fellow sdners, Im sorry if "booty-call" is a harsh term to describe the email sent. I meant it to be a joke (insert "haha").

From what I heard about last year's acceptance letters, they will be set by snail mail.

The people this year who have already been accepted received theirs via snail mail; from what I can tell, the rejections were sent via e-mail. I have been checking my mail obsessively, and I keep seeing envelopes and getting nervous/excited, only for them to be bills or junk.
 
I received an email mid-November that I was selected for an interview. I'm flying out to K-State tomorrow to interview on Saturday afternoon. I was just searching to see if anyone could offer tips or know how much of a chance I have once getting past the interview stage. I got rejection emails from both Cornell and Oregon State today, and have already been rejected from UC Davis, Illinois, and Colorado. 🙁

Still waiting to hear from Penn and Western, but it's looking like K-State will be my only chance!

Here are the stats from c/o 2015...my boss was telling me that last year (c/o 2016) even a higher percentage of those interviewed were invited and that they poured through the waitlist. I think Kstate is an awesome bet to have as your "only chance" since they accept so many OOS people. Stay positive!

My interview is at 10:30 on January 6th. Im easy to spot because I have dreadlocks. I am terrible with names/knowing people personally on here but if anyone is as friendly as I am feel free to say hey! I am coming by myself and always love new friends!

my interview is on the 6th at 1:30. I don't know if I'll see you then but maybe at the pizza thing? I'm an Asian girl with black cat eye frames 😀
 
I'll be alone too, except you'll probably see me with wldlfstdt 😀 I'm the super short asian girl. Most likely in a pony tail. I'm kinda shy when approaching other people, but I become really open/talktive if you start talking to me first :laugh:

I have to say, this made me laugh, and I may steal it sometime. I was a "booty-call" interviewee back in '09, got my interview invitation and acceptance in the middle of June. I did actually recieve a pretty unmistakable rejection letter initially, but spots opened up. I don't want to give false hope, but it does happen. Good luck to you and the others waiting.


For those of you coming into Manhattan soon, good luck to you as well. Enjoy the town, it's grown on me in the last 3 1/2 years. 🙂

YIPEE!!!! IT CAME!!!

I had a good feeling after I saw one of my interviewers after, and she said I did a really good job, but man, my heart was still pounding when I opened it.

Best of luck to everyone with interviews coming up!
