Guess Im the first, does anyone have advice for the supplmentals?

Does anyone know if KSU has a history of an internal GPA cut off?

I don't know. I would call the admissions office and ask. They are very friendly and easy to talk to. I don't know that they will tell you that answer though, but I don't think it will hurt to ask.

I think K State looks at grades a little differently than some other schools. From their website, they consider three different GPAs and they calculate each of those separately from the VMCAS application: The prerequisite course GPA (64 credit hours), the science prerequisite course GPA (34-35 credit hours), and the last 45 credit hour GPA (could be more than 45 hours). These are the GPAs they use to determine interview invites. The minimum GPA to be eligible for an interview and admission to the program is a 2.800 for each of the three GPAs.

All courses must be graded. Pass/Fail or credit/no credit course are not accepted to fulfill requirements except for pass/fail credit/no credit grades earned during the Spring, Summer, and/or Fall 2020 semesters. AP and Test credits appearing itemized on an official transcript will be accepted for fulfillment of requirements, but are not used in the GPA calculations.

Any grade less than a "C-" in a required course is not accepted. A course grade of a D or F on a transcript at the time of application, in any required course, will disqualify the application. Required courses that have been repeated or replaced, and the grade improved, will be accepted. If a course has been repeated, the grades will be averaged together for calculating the relevant GPA. A grade can be replaced (meaning the D or F grade will not be considered) if a higher level course was taken and a satisfactory grade was earned.

Here are the average science prerequisite and last 45 credit hour GPAs for the past 6 years (prerequisite GPA is not listed):
Class of 2029: 3.79 / 3.85
Class of 2028: 3.78 / 3.84
Class of 2027: 3.67 / 3.77
Class of 2026: 3.68 / 3.82
Class of 2025: 3.7 / 3.8
Class of 2024 3.51 / 3.68

While these GPAs are high, they are the average... meaning half of the class had a GPA below what is listed (we just don't know how much lower than average the lowest was).

From the Successful Applicants C/O 2029 thread, here are the listed overall GPAs that were accepted to KSU CVM that I could find:
3.86
4.00
3.5 (interview invite, waitlisted)
4.00
3.56
3.64
4.00

I'm just writing what I'm seeing. The K State website says you have a chance if you have at least a 2.8 GPA using their calculations.

Thank you so much for this very detailed response! I appreciate your time and efforts 🙂

Friendly reminder and Heads up! There is a K state webinar today (12pm Eastern) for admissions if you are interested in their program or have any specific questions.

Anybody that is affiliated with Kansas State heard anything regarding the application process? (I know we’re still in October, just curious!)

Hi, first time OOS applicant. Here's when they sent out interview invites from the prior years, according to SDN: 11/24/2022, 11/17/2023, 11/22/2024

Thank you for sharing! 😀

Happy Monday! How are we all feeling about getting interview decisions next week? 🥳

Wondering if we may hear back this week 😬 I know they said the week of the 24th but I believe they said that last year and then still heard a bit early
I was wondering the same thing! I was told last year they heard back on the 22nd, which was the Friday before the week of Thanksgiving. Hoping that will be the case for us as well 🤞

Yes last year they sent out invites on the 22nd, and it was later in the evening (around 6:30pm). So it could be after business hours this year as well. Good luck to everyone!
Lmk if you have any questions. I applied last year and was originally waitlisted for an interview, ended up getting off the waitlist, and was ultimately accepted!

Did they give you a number when you were waitlisted? If so, do you mind sharing that number? 🙂

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing!!

They do not give numbers unfortunately so you really have no way of knowing where you stand. The email did say that each year a handful get pulled off the waitlist, but that it’s very few (like 10 or less) and they have no way of estimating how many will. From what I understand, spots only open if someone declines their interview.
They do not provide updates or any information to those on the interview waitlist after the initial notice. They just say to wait for future communication. They did end up emailing those still on the waitlist a more formal rejection later on at the end of January, but it was after all the interviews were completed so it didn’t come as a shock.
I got an email on January 2nd (15 days before my scheduled interview) that I got pulled off and asking whether I wanted to accept or decline the spot. I only had a short window to reply so if you end up on the waitlist, make sure you regularly check your emails!

Thank you so much for this detailed response!! Congratulations on getting off the waitlist! That is an incredible feat.

Hey! I was on the interview waitlist last cycle too! I received the email on 12/20 I believe. Ultimately I got rejected but it is so cool hearing your success story! Thank you for sharing!

For those of you who received invites, would you be willing to share your statistics? (No pressure)

OOS? IS? Gpa? Hours?
Sure! OOS.
cGPA 3.3, sGPA 3.7, last 45 3.8 (haven't calculated my specific prerec GPA)
Vet hours: ~1800 equine, ~300 ER scribe mostly SA but some exotics
Animal experience: 3k + equine (multiple working student jobs), ~200 small animal between pet sitting and volunteering at a shelter
Other work: bio TA (2 semesters), two years working as a guide/coordinator for my school's outdoor program
Other volunteering: four years on a technical search and rescue team
Also ~700 hours of research in a zebrafish cancer lab

A friend of mine interviewed there two cycles ago and he said it felt a lot more like a job interview with some vet related questions mixed in.
This is accurate to my experience last cycle as well.
I had 3 interviewers, and they all had access to my file beforehand so they were familiar with my experiences and also asked a few questions relating to those.

EDIT: the highest number of research hours for admitted applicants last year was 68?
I saw this too but it must be a typo?? They even have a dual degree program so I'd think they'd want research? It's way higher in their other class profiles

OOS? IS? Gpa? Hours?
Hey!! I’m OOS!
Cumulative Gpa : 3.65
Last 45: 3.68
Science: 3.44 I think
Graduated almost a year early due to taking so many credits
Vet hours: 1500 at time of application, mostly SA, only like 30 hours for la, both clinics work with exotics
Research : 145 hours on termites, swine and chickens
Volunteer : 150
Employment outside of vet med: 2000 (delivery driver and cashier)
Extracurricular: 1300 (animal clubs, pickleball, TA, leadership)
Animal: TNTC (iykyk) lol but seriously probably like 6000+ hours (my own petsitting business since high school, volunteering at the shelter , kennel tech for 3 years)

Also remember, comparison is the thief of joy. You are not a number, you are a person! You are worth more than all of the hours! Good luck everyone ❤️

Out of curiosity, where are y’all’s interviews? Mine isn’t until 1/8 which feels so far away 😅
