I don't know about the PBL pathway, it's just that there have been many pharm program where students are assigned into groups and work together for the whole year. But I guess it's not that way in LECOM...i'm just curious.

Do you have any advice for us to prepare before the first year starts, esp for people who don't have pharm. exp like me, I only volunteer in hospital pharm. where I basically delivered meds. Also if I want to work during school year, am I able to work as an intern pharmacist? I don't have a tech license, and I don't have GED/ high school diploma to apply for the license test, so I was wondering if I should start studying and become a tech now

Thank you, you have been very helpful 🙂

We have plenty of group projects you can look forward to if that's what you are talking about.

You certainly do not need to have pharmacy experience to start school but the students who have worked previously fair better in class and as an intern.

Everyone get's there intern licenses around October of the first semester. It does not expire, and it allows you to work in any pharmacy. (You must get hired yourself though.)

Sorry I don't quite understand. The 150 was to hold that apt til Aug when you looked at it in June or you went back in August and they still have available apt? My thought process was I'll have to rent the apt early-around Juneish-then will have to pay June and July rents as well. I just don't know if those preferable apt will still be ava when it's too close to school yr. Thanks much.

The 150 was to hold the apartment until August.

do you know what is the best time to start on the FAFSA?
Also, since it is an aparment rent, we have to pay monthly in 4 years..How is your housiing lease? I think it is more work to find a new place to live for the next year if we have 9 month lease without summer
Thanks a lot for the info provided...👍

Start FAFSA ASAP! If you know you're coming to LECOM, go www.fafsa.ed.gov and fill out the application. Call Sarah Buck at the financial aid office if you have questions.

I have a 1 year lease that I think I might renew next year. Yes, I also pay my rent every month... I'm sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding your question. Do you mind rephrasing for me?

Do we have to apply for the intern licenses or will the school just give it to us? If we have to apply, when can we start? (I would think I'd have to be accepted first -_-)

I got accepted to Lecom Erie and haven't started yet but applied for my license and just got the letter today with the dean's signature. You can apply and start getting hours once you're accepted.

ohh that's very good to know. How did you apply? did you have to do it thru the school?

You have to go print out an application from Florida's department of health website. You then have to fill out the information, and send it to your school. They must fill out the appropriate information and send it back to you. I just got that information back. I'm going to send that information to the department of health so they can approve it. I'm mailing it out tomorrow, the school needs to have the dean sign off on it, and put their seal on the forms. Call the department of health (ask about pharmacy interns), and call LECOM and ask where specifically you need to send it. Good luck.

I have no idea about any of this ****, LECOM better fill me in. When do they send out the packets we need to bring to our doctors to make sure our health records are up to date/ rcent immunizations/ all that crap.?????

You don't have to get intern hours before school. They had just mentioned it on the tour when I went for my interview so I looked into it since I already had a tech job. I'm not sure about the packet and other stuff. They said that they would keep in touch over the next few months. I'm going to Lecom Erie but I'm sure Lecom-B is the same.

for those of you who got an interview invite. Did you get it through the portal or via mail? What was your status prompt before you got the interview invitation? Getting kinda worried I might not be considered

The Fafsa application for next year is not available yet so we can not start it just yet. We have to wait until the new year.

Currently your application is under review by the Admissions Committee.

This is my application status. Submitted PharmCAS (obv 🙄)

Must I submit anything else? Or am I okay?

Thanks for replies, and sorry if this is already answered!

You are ok ..and you are in a waiting game...If you have a degree you don't need to summit PCAT score but make sure under your status PCAT is complete.. good luck

I submitted PCAT through PharmCAS. Must I send it to the school aswell?

I was under the understanding that PharmCAS sends PCAT scores to LECOM.

Thanks

As you said you should get this e-mail......

"Prerequisite deficiencies will be indicated on the Admissions Tab under "Required Courses and Letters". Click "View Folder Items" on the right side of the screen.

Prerequisite deficiencies will be indicated on the portal for the following reasons :< br>
1. Course indicated as "not enrolled." If this is the circumstance, please indicate by e-mail ([email protected]) if you plan to take the course by the end of the spring term 2011. Please do not call the office; we require written verification.

2. Planned courses (Fall, Winter, Spring) will be listed as deficiencies until we receive a transcript indicating that course grade (This will not delay your file from going to committee).

3. Any prerequisite course or lab with a grade of C- will be listed as deficient and must be retaken.

4. If all of your required courses and letters and other admissions criteria are marked complete, then your file will go to committee for a review.

5. PERTAINS TO FOUR-YEAR DEGREE APPLICANTS. Any applicant that has a four year degree or will have a degree by spring 2011, the PCAT will be waived, however if you are planning to take the PCAT exam and did not indicate it on your PharmCAS application, please notify the Admissions office ([email protected]) in the event you are selected for an interview you would not be required to take the written assessment. If you are not planning to take the PCAT, applicants interviewed would be required to take a written assessment during the interview day.

6. PERTAINS TO NON DEGREE APPLICANTS. Any applicant that will not have a degree will be required to take the PCAT exam. Your file cannot be reviewed by committee and will remain on hold until the PCAT scores arrive in our office. The January 2011 PCAT will be the last exam we accept for the 2010-2011 application cycle.

7. Two letters of recommendation are required. One of the letters must be from a science professor. Your file will remain on hold until both letters arrive in our office."

if you do what is listed above you are good to go..

They have sent me the email saying application is processed on 12/1 and on 12/9 they complete my pre-request check list under required letters and credits. Finally, i got the interview invitation by email on 12/13/2010. i confirmed my interview date through email and they send me email and updated my portal status...saying on campus interview is confirmed... i hope this will help ... but each application processing time can be different because my friend have FEB 24 interview we both summit Pharmcas on 11/22 good luck...

I actually got that email saying about the requirements and then got the invitation to the interview the same day. The invitation will be through email. Most schools contact and inviting students to interview through emails. That's how i got most of my invitation. As for California, it may be through phone call. My brother got invitation through phone call from Western. Hope this helps 🙂
