LECOM Bradenton Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Guys, is there any bus system going from Bradenton to Tampa??? I was going to rent a car but that turned out to be too expensive. Please advise 🙂

Nope, no public transportation. I am presently carpooling with two others, there's alot of us in the Tampa area.

Please does anyone know where i could go online to find out current national issues on Pharmacy? I have an interview in a couple days and that's the only question i'm not so sure about. Thanks

Having an early interview certainly gives you an advantage, however it does not mean acceptance is guaranteed. They interview >100 candidates doesn't mean all 100 seats are filled up. Don't stress out, I believe LECOM has interview all the way till May. LECOM-B really does look at your overall application. Being granted an interview means you're half way there already. The school saw that you have something to offer, now they just want to get to know you in person.
Read the interview feedback, be confident, be yourself and nail the interview. You'll be fine. Good luck 🙂

To those who interviewed yesterday, what were yall's overall impression of the interview and the school?

Hi There!

I have an interview with LECOM-B in March and I was just hoping that you might be able to clarify something for me. What is the student to faculty ratio? Do all 120 students take the same classes at the same time? Do you take some of the basic science classes with other health profession students (med and pa students)?

The school of pharmacy has a little over 400 students and 28 faculty. Of the 28 faculty, 4 or 5 of them teach both in the college of medicine and in the school of pharmacy. It's probably safe to estimate that the student/faculty ratio is better than 20:1. Yes, all pharmacy students in the same year take the same classes at the same time. No, you do not take any courses with other health professions.

hey what's up Henry? Just a quick question...do you have any classmates that use an Apple computer? In the packet they sent us, it says no Mac laptops. Is this true? I don't really wanna buy a new laptop if it is possible to use a mac. thanks.

Several of my classmates use Apple laptops. I think you should be fine.

Hope this helps. Congratulations and good luck!

Pharmcas has submitted my application abt 3 weeks ago and I have not been invited for interview. other schools already invited me. I'm a bit nervous. is anybody experiencing the same thing?

Our class's avg. GPA is 3.45 but otherwise you're golden. Be professional during the interview and I can't see any reason why LECOM wouldn't accept you, unless you applied late.

Well.. first off thank you very much for the quick response....

i'll give you a tad bit more info

i first went to school in 04 and got a 0.6 GPA....came back couple years later and have a 4.0....

also my app was sent to lecom on 2/7/11 and they are just waiting to have my pcat scores and my last letter of rec catch up to it....

what do ya think?

approx....if you had to guess...how many will be accepted for this class....how many have already been accepted?

I'm sorry but I don't know how the admissions committee will weigh the different parts of your application. However, I can promise you that they will look at more than just your grades and your PCAT score.

I wish you would've applied a lot sooner. I think starting this year the PCAT requirement is waived for bachelor degree holders. Anyways, I'll cross my fingers for you. Good luck!

To those of you who have been accepted, When did you recieve your letter. I interview last Thursday Feb 24th. They just changed my portal status to " The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 10 days." Did it take 10 days for you to recieve the letter?

Can someone give me an advice....?
PharmCAS sent my application to LECOM in Mid-Dec. They sent me a link to the candidate portal page with username and password in around the end of Jan.
When I checked the folder, I took OChem already but they said i've not complete it yet. I emailed them on Feb 1st but haven't heard anything from them..
What should I do? Should I call them or just wait😕
Thanks.

I would definitly give them a call. Lauren was really nice and helpful. She will be able to help you with the organic class situation and let you know the status of your application!

I'm getting really nervous! they are reviewing my app this week....

how many seats do you think are left?!!! they are taking in 125 this year.......

I have an interview next week, 3/10/11.....can anyone tell me what questions they ask at the interview or where I can find them? Thank You.

what are your stats?

check back to an earlier page in the thread...around 14 i think

Look at the interview feedback section. It tells you basically all the questions they ask! I was really nevous but it was not bad at all. Everyone was really nice!

I don't know but I'll see if I can find out for you.

So far, LECOM Bradenton (separate from Erie) has received a little over 2000 applications (it's past LECOM's deadline but PharmCAS is still processing applications submitted before 3/1/11). 114 of those applicants have been accepted (16 seats left). The avg. GPA of accepted students is 3.4. Over 80% have completed at least 3 years of college course work and a little over 50% have bachelor's degrees. I don't know how many accepted applicants took the PCAT and I don't know the average PCAT score. The wait list is filling up but I don't know how many applicants are on it so far. Based on last year's data, it will likely grow to approx. 100. The top third are anticipated to be awarded acceptances.

I hope this helps and good luck to you!

What do you mean the top third, do you mean 30% of the 100 wait listed?

So there are 16 blatent seats to be presented....and you think that about 30 kids are going to turn down there acceptances....?

I'm hoping more than 30 give up their seat! Not for me, but for my gf!

That is a lot of rejection letters..

I was accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!

You interviewed on the 24th too right? Did you call today or did you get a letter? Im too nervous to call her but if i don't get a letter today I will call!

I didnt get the letter yet so I called. Lauren told me that the letters were mailed Wednesday so it should be any day before we receive them. Just call right now

I am not sure if I will be attending. The cost is a huge factor for me and LECOM-B is quite expensive

ya i emailed her and i am accepted. It is pretty expensive so I am going to see what happens with my other schools.

I will be giving up my spot as my state school accepted me. Good luck to everyone!

my friend wrote this thinking it would be funny....pay no attention....lecom ftw

ya, this school is waaaay to expensive....doesn't make sense as a business decision....

have fun with ya'll student loans over the next 30 years lol

Really? Tuition was $23,125 last year and I'm an OOS student. Tuition was actually one of my big contributing factors for choosing LECOM. I definitely feel that it's on the cheaper end, even compared to in-state options. But if you have found something better, more power to you.

You need 100k in tuition alone at LECOM. How is that not expensive? I plan on going to state school and spend 100k-120k the most for tuition and living expenses

When I say inexpensive, I mean in comparison to other schools of pharmacy across the country, not just Texas. For many states, 100k over 4 years is one of the most affordable options available. Keep in mind that most people are only eligible for in-state tuition in one state.

I'm curious as to why you applied if you knew you weren't coming. Texas has a slew of pharmacy schools, almost all of which are cheaper than LECOM. And some that are both cheaper and less competitive than LECOM.
