nooooooooo! I need to carpool w/someone from Tampa 😀! Although I know most everyone will be in Bradenton...

I ordered my shot records from Hills County School board, and only my most recent boosters were listed-- poopers. 🙁 I didn't know about a database for shot records-- hmmm, I need to do some research...

🙁 :laugh: I have only gotten one speeding ticket like 5 years ago... and the cop set me up bc the speed limit had just changed and I didn't know the area
 
If the suspended license comes up then just explain to them what had happened like you did here. Honesty is never a bad thing. You should be fine. I will ride in a car with you! 🙂 So I did my second polio shot today, still got another one to go! Plus Hep-B too. I feel like these little needles are feeling less and less pinchy - becoming a pin cushion! So anyone heard about textbooks to buy yet? I've gather a few board series review books for reference and I don't want to buy 15 big 200 dollar textbooks. Also, laptops, what are you guys getting? Anybody getting a new car? My lease is coming up on August, and want to buy a small cheap car, thinking between a used toyota corolla or a new mazda 3 or hyundai, what do you think?
 
My friend has a Mazda-3... it's so cute and drives great with all the bells and whistles, and super efficient.

U had to redo your polio series? Ugh. I'm not liking the sound of this...
 
I have a new Hyundia Sonata and I love it! I got a really good deal on it too so my payments aren't really that bad. It has more features than a similarly priced Toyota did (a similarly priced new toyota was just plain and boring and small)

Anyways I think it's great but then again my old car was a piece of junk so anything would have been an improvement.

We're going to get along great! I can deal with the dems (sort of), I just don't want to say, "cah" for the rest of my life. I like being able to speak properly...go figure.

I wouldn't be able to understand my patients. They'd go, "I took a diggah on da sidewalk, den got run over by a cah. Now I caint sit on da hoppah, even if I have a hoodsie wit jimmies. Now Ahm heah in dis johnny when ah should be at da Sox game.

can you get registered to vote before the election in november? are there residency requirements prior to that registration? oh wait, there probably won't be an election. the Bush dictatorship just vetoed the election in the interest of national security..
 
General public service announcement to those of us becoming Florida residents: the deadline for registering to vote in the November election is October 6. Don't wait that long though. In theory, if there's another primary, you have until July 28 '08 to register for that. FL state drivers license (or equivalent proof of residency and identification) required.

When you get your Florida driver's license they ask you if you want to register and will sign you up on the spot if you say, "yes".

I have a question for those of you coming from long distances. Ok, so I'm coming from Pittsburgh and I'm trying to figure out if I should keep my PA plates and license, or get FL plates and license? Any opinions here?

For anyone's info: Concerning car registration, etc... for new residents.

And we don't have inspections here so you won't have to worry about that.

Of course, having always lived in FL I'm not actually sure what the law says on how long you have to change your registration, get a new license, etc.... Usually they want you to do that within however many days of either starting a job, putting kids in school, or establishing residency.

Probably easiest thing to do is just take all your paperwork (registration, license, car title, insurance, etc..) and go to a DMV office. Here are the manatee county locations:

*off topic* I was living in Tallahassee (our capital) during the 2000 presidential election disaster and that was NOT fun. Undergrad campus literally bumps up to downtown and it was a media circus for a while there, never seen so many satellite trucks. Really made me proud to be a Florida.....😳

nlax gave you some details on how to do it... but should you? I was going to just keep mine from SC, since I still own a house there, but when I went to buy a new car last year I pretty much had to change it.

Good things: There are no inspections like some states have, and no county/city stickers like you have to renew yearly in some states. You have to pay about an extra $100 when you get your license plates the first time (my total was about $180.00, I think), but if you turn in your plates later you'll get that back. I had to renew my plates by my birthday, did it online and it cost virtually nothing-- no big tax bill. When I was in SC I had to pay more in car taxes than I did on my house each year 😱 😱.

Bad things: The insurance was a little bit higher than I had in SC, but not by a whole lot.

There's a statute that says if you're a full-time student in FL, you're not required to change your registration. So my understanding is that you can keep your old plates.
 
Well I wish I had known about this little gem well before I started my application process!

I got accepted to LECOM-B on 3/25 and I interviewed 3/14.

From the previous posts on this forum it seems like I interviewed the same day as LauraDO. Who knew? :laugh:

Its nice to have a place to communicate with potential classmates.

I try to make it a point to get to know my fellow interviewees it makes the day much more enjoyable. I even remember some of the things we talked about. 😛

Is that the nagging feeling I had that whole day we interviewed together? "Unyielding charms" alright :laugh:

LECOM-B is my top choice. I've already booked flights and hotels for a west coast interview trip. (3 in one week) Those schools will have to really impress me for me not to go to LECOM-B

Hey, just saw you went to FSU, very cool! I graduated there in '06 and really enjoyed Tally. Will be nice to have another 'Nole down here. There's two or three of us in my class and a few from UF as well.

GO NOLES! I also graduated in '06. I wonder if we had any classes together. There were a couple UF people interviewing the same day I did. I wonder what their status is.

is the LECOM-Bradenton class of 2012 already filled?
I called Friday morning and they said that I was sent out a letter on that morning regarding my application.
I dont know if this means I will be called in for an interview or outright rejected. But I think some of this depends on the the capacity of the class and whether or not it is filled at this point.
Does LECOM-Bradenton offer acceptances for an entering Fall class of 2009?

Not filled, last we heard. If they sent a letter and you haven't interviewed yet, that doesn't look good. I got an email invite for my interview...

Don't know about the Fall 2009 class. I haven't heard of them doing that...I don't think...

I got a call for my interview followed by a letter and an email, I agree, I don't think they would invite you for an interview by mail this late in the game because there needs to be a quick turn around right now

That's what they told me a few days before my husband and I got our rejection letters in the mail. 🙁

Boo!!! Matt honestly I don't understand why you got no love this cycle, your stats are good, you are a nice guy, the admissions process is only half skill and half really good luck- Who knows what the letter is though, always hold out hope!
 
well im pretty sure having my secondaries completed at the end of February didnt help my case any!
my MCAT isnt impressive enough to be considered this late in the game by many adcoms.
I am just happy i got interviewed at PNWU. I really feel like i blew them away in the interview and I expect to hear some really good news by phone sometime tomorrow.
