LECOM-Bradenton Discussion Thread 2010-2011

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My DO letter was received and my file was placed on hold until I interview at the Erie campus. I'm not sure what to think of this response😕. PeachyPhd, have you heard back from LECOM-B yet?

That means they want you to make an informed decision about which campus you like without anything swaying your opinion. Ron shivley told us about it yesterday

That sounds like good news then, thanks for the info, it's a big relief!

The interview here is waaay more stressful than at Erie. I felt like I was being grilled but other than that the school was pretty awesome.
I know who you are now gatorfann. I was there that day too. At least you had a normal timed interview of about 30 mins and not one of the ones that were 45 mins or 15mins. This wait is killing me, shouldn't have taken the interview on a wed.:scared:

I called them today after I got an email saying something similar. Essentially they want to be fair and not make people pay
multiple deposits and not give multiple seats away to one student.

Who are you? you were one of the ones at both Erie and Bradenton with me?

I got an email today from Annette saying the admissions comittee wants my lor's before making a decision about offering an interview or not. Anyone else get this one and survive?

Im guessing its because of my less than stellar early undergrad gpa... right now Im at a 3.1 thought my 31mcat would help..

Just looking for a little optomism about the email.. guess its not a flat out rejection.. just wondering how stellar my letters need to be to save me.

To me, it sounds like they're interested. The lor's are important because it shows what other people think of you - people who have known you much longer than they have. I wouldn't be too discouraged by this. It's not an excuse on their part to reject you, it's simply an honest inquiry as to the quality of your character; how you have impressed people over the years. Don't forget, this is a requirement. Get 'em in. Sooner the better.

I agree with this. If they were not interested they would have just rejected you.

My status just changed from: "Your application is being reviewed"
to
"The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days."

What is your experience from this? (i.e. you will be put on hold, interview, or rejection?)
Thanks!

i think everyone gets the same status change. i got one like that

so they basically know if you have interviews at both lecom's? and the status of acceptance/waitlist/rejection?

Ya they know, Ron shivley talked about knowing some of us at my interview had Been accepted but that noon had paid their deposit yet.

I got this too. I guessing its a rejection letter🙁

hmm i wonder what would happen if u already paid the deposit. maybe thats why your interview was so tough because u were already accepted

I got this too. I guessing its a rejection letter🙁

i had the same status update and got accepted via mail. some people received phone calls. and it was regular sized mail not some big package. so keep ur head up and good luck!!

Thanks for the encouragement, but as this is pre-interview, I'm sure that the ominous sounding update means that they aren't giving me a chance. Although their secondary doesn't have any essays, it kind of feels like I wasn't given a chance to tell them more about myself (plus I'm out $50).

Oh , well Whaddyagonnado?

Good luck to all those who are under review, under re-review, and still waiting for their applications to be processed! And Congrats to those who are accepted!

might not necessarily be a bad sign. for lecom-erie i received a similar status change about a decision in 30 days. i counted down from then on and received an interview invite on the second to last 30th day

damn, sorry to hear that man. just kill it at that unecom interview! at least u can use the experience from bradenton

Back to square one I guess... Only two interviews left to make something happen. unecom and erie. And alooooooot of waiting....

Hey I also interviewed on sept 1st and this morning i called...sadly waitlisted =/ kinda bummed out about it, just makes me wonder if most people end up getting waitlisted and how good of a chance you really have to get in...but on to the next one.

That is so odd. What do you think made them change your status? It says they made a decision, but did they decide to re-review your application?Did you call them to ask about your status? Anyway, hopefully I'll have the same luck!

Hi Guys!
Anybody who has received an interview or acceptance care to share their stats would be so helpful! I'm not sure if I am competitive here and things are getting costly. Congrats to all those getting interviews!

dang, I got the you will receive a letter in 30 days thing...

pre-intervew, can't help but figure this is a rejection 🙁

I believe that is real good news for you and is basically an acceptance. From what I understand, they'll place you on hold until you interview at Erie so that you don't have to put 1,500 dollars down now for your acceptance seat holder and then not go to your interview at Erie because of that payment you made. This way, you'll give Erie a fair chance and not just go to Bradenton because you were accepted there first.

So, if you have an Erie interview in a couple months, and just interview at Bradneton, you'll either be: 1. rejected at Bradenton 2. wait-listed 3. or placed on "hold for Erie interview". And I guess that means that "hold for Erie interview" is basically an acceptance.

i was wondering also because i know some people said they're interviews lasted only 10-15 minutes and was overall positive.

do they do that for everyone interviewing at both campuses? i also have an interview at erie but have not heard anything like that

@postal/gatewasani: for erie campus, i got the 30 days and got the interview invite on the 29th day. i didnt really do anything differently. i did call to check if my stuff was in but other than that, i didnt do much else. they didnt rereview my app. so i would say the 30 days message doesnt necessarily mean a rejection

Interesting that Erie and Bradenton coordinate about interviews. It's a good thing for all of you who applied to both campuses (plus Seton Hill), and I suppose the idea is to minimize the competition between the different LECOMs for students.

2nd years have our first PBL exam coming up next week, so we don't have PBL sessions on Monday the 20th or Wednesday the 22nd, but start up again on Friday. I'm not sure what they do for interviewees those days.

adcoms meeting today, good luck to everyone who interviewed this past week. Im rooting for ya gatorfann. Ill be checking my status like crazy+pissed+

Holy crap, Literally right after I posted i got an email
"The admissions committee has looked favorably on you file. Please submit your D.O. letter"
plus my status has changed to the admissions commitee requests all letters.
This looks like a good sign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohh and gatorfann i was the only other UF grad at the interview, we met walking in too. i was the one who worked night shifts also.

Oh sweet, you are the only person from SDN I have been able to put a face to from interviews. goodluck! hopefully we both get in

I just got an email saying my status is on hold for erie interview.

I know its supposed to mean that you got in, but im still a bit nervous because it doesnt say "accepted" lol. I want to call...booo

Congrats Oar, and I'm sure you'll get accepted Gator 👍

Just got a call for an interview on Oct 20th, very excited!

I have officially withdrawn my interview/application from Erie and have been granted acceptance at Bradenton!

Woo hoo Class of 2015 :soexcited::soexcited::clap::clap::soexcited::soexcited:

Hey all, I'll be interviewing on Oct 25th ... My stats are solid (sGPA 3.55, cGPA 3.55) as is my MCAT (27Q 8p/8v/11p). My interview skills are also quite good. Anywho, I was wondering what the time frame is to hear from them after the interview on an acceptance/rejection? Also, for all those accepted/waitlisted - do you think I have a solid chance of admission. LECOM-B is my 2nd choice in school. I'll be interviewing @ my top choice, NSU-COM, the next day - the 26th.

Thanks! 👍

on pre-interview hold until fall grades come out..

Taking biochem
ochem2
anatomy w/ lab
and history

If I get straight A's maybe ill get an interview..

I have an interview next month for erie, fingers crossed... I got rejected from RVU and placed on hold from wv and azcom.

with a 3.1 and a 31N does anyone think I should try to take the mcat again? I took it before having ochem 2 or physics 2.(Or maybe my writiting score is too low?)

Im afraid that if I get an interview after fall semester that they will be booked out until march... anyone have experiences from last year of sending in transcripts at the end of the year and when they got interviewed?

hey everyone! congratulations to those accepted into the class of 2015. I've created a thread in the medical student forum, please feel free to come over and post!

when I applied last year I waited for my fall grades to come out (in December) before submitting my application. My file was complete by the end of jan. and had an interview in march at bradenton but got placed on the alternate waitlist. Unfortunately, I never got off the waitlist and am thus applying again this cycle. I should have done what you are doing now, apply first and just submit my new grades later but I waited, so I think you are in a little better position than I was last year. I would stay try to stay in touch with the admissions office so they don't forget about you until your grades come out

congrats peachy!! and hope the rest of you guys waiting get in as well!

I received an interview invite today! I am scheduled for October 27th, but may change to Nov 3rd so I can also do my NSU interview in the same time frame. I'm OOS, so logistics ( $$/ time) is a factor.

Does anyone think pushing my interview back 1 week will change my potential outcome?

How many people interview per day?

Thanks for any insight.

i think there were about 12 at my interview. in terms of interview dates, everyone always says the earlier the better but i guess one week couldnt hurt?

Congratulations to you.

So, you were on "Hold-Erie" at Lecom-B and then decided to just drop your Erie interview and then your status officially changed to "Accepted" at Lecom-B?

Your MCAT is very good. Your GPA is your weak spot, and I think focusing on that is the highest-yield intervention you can do right now. If you don't have luck this year, then I'd say go for the MCAT retake if you can improve your score. There are many, many different opinions about whether very high scores "make up" for weaknesses in other areas, and since I'm not on an admissions committee, I don't know what to tell you.

I interviewed in late November last year, and they reassured us that anything before winter break was considered "early." I believe it's more competitive now, but most of the folks I know here interviewed in Jan/Feb/Mar. I hope that's reassuring.

Does anyone think pushing my interview back 1 week will change my potential outcome?

While every little bit helps, 1 week in the fall is unlikely to be the difference between acceptance and rejection.

Good luck to all of you.

Congratulations to you.

So, you were on "Hold-Erie" at Lecom-B and then decided to just drop your Erie interview and then your status officially changed to "Accepted" at Lecom-B?

This is basically what happened, but it was much more deliberate and thoughtful than you make it sound (no offense, I know things get lost in text). I've been in contact with both campuses through this process

It was a tough decision, but I really liked LECOM-B. The more I thought about it and discussed it with my family and friends, I couldn't picture myself living in Erie in the
snow so far from my family.

Without giving away too much about my situation, I already knew I was accepted- I just didn't want to talk about it until it was official. I also don't want to spread misinformation about status updates and decisions. LECOM is being very fair and allow prospective students to see both campuses (if applicable) to make an educated decision without having to worry about multiple deposits and without holding multiple seats.

Feel free to PM about specifics. Thanks everyone for your support.

Good luck!!!

Interview invite for october 18th!

Anybody have any specific interview questions? I heard from a fried that they asked what he thought about wikipedia, who stands to lose the most in the new health care plan, and they grilled him about his grades.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

congrats man! gonna be a tough decision but id say go LECOM-B!
