Hey guys! Got some good news today! A few of us got together to hang out before going home for summer and I've heard that the number of people that have officially been accepted to the medical school is somewhere around 30 of the original 36 that interviewed! They all showed a large improvement in their performance during the spring semester. Most of the other 6 that did not get the acceptance at LECOM got accepted to other schools.

I still think that program GPA is the biggest factor, then interview/professionalism in the program, then MCAT/AIS. Good luck and I'm always snooping on SDN if you have a question.
Awesome! Did the rest not qualify for the interview?

Either they didn't qualify due to grades, or scores, or they got into a different school and declined the LECOM interview invite. I think about 10 got into other schools. So all in all 40ish of the 55ish medical hopefuls that were in the program will be starting medical school in the fall.

Okay cool, so when we are applying/interviewing for LECOM will we need to compete a new application for the school? For example, get all of our LOR and complete a personal statement ect.

Does anyone who applied or got in know what the deal is with the LOR requirements? It says the recommender has to specifically recommend the student for LECOM. Is that normal? I would feel bad if I had to ask my recs to write entirely new letter specifically geared towards LECOM.

Unfortunately I just found about about this program so it’s probably too late to apply but just want to have my stuff in order for next years application.

I think that's inaccurate because they accept pre-health committee letters, which are usually addressed to med school. I sent my med school LORs in and they didn't refuse it. It's not too late to apply, the deadline is June 1st. The deadline listed on their LOR flyer is for last years applicants; they didn't update the flyer.

Same for me

This might be up in the air. Before our class they had people go to a special page on the portal to fill out an application. This year they had our class submit a new application through AACOMAS. Good news is that everything besides LOR's is saved in your AACOMAS app each year. You can get the same LOR's or Professors that you meet in this program will write you new letters.

Okay, cool. I called the admissions person and they said that it needed to be specific for lecom but she was kinda short with me. If you guys had success with it then I will go ahead and submit my letters. Hopefully they still have space left in the class. Thanks!

Tbh, you should just submit the LORs you currently have. The person who answered the phone is not going be the one reviewing your application and making a decision. I sent my med school letters to Erie MMS too and they had no problem with it; and they have the same requirements.

Thanks for the info! Also, do you know how many students will be in our class? If not, how many were in yours?

I have all of my classes, LOR, and transcripts sent already. However my DAT was not the best so I'm retaking it May 25th. Should I still submit everything and ask to put a hold on my application to ensure the rest of my application is received by June 1st?

You could use your SAT scores

I got a 1070. for SAT that was taken probably around 2012. What would you recommend?
In that case id probably go with your initial plan. How quickly do you get back your DAT scores?

You get DAT scores instantly right after but it says unofficial report. Realistically it’s the same as official but gets sent electronically and takes about 3-4weeks. However I was just going to send that report.

Anyone know how early you need to leave if you are communing from Tampa? Im thinking of renting a place there instead.

I am going to be commuting from Tampa for the first month 🙁 It is about an hour drive away but in the morning there will be traffic and there is a lot of construction on the highway near Bradenton so I am probably going to leave around 6:15AM if classes start at 8am just to account for any accidents/traffic!

Is anyone's application still "under review"? I applied about a month ago and the status has been like that for over a week. I applied to Erie a week after and got accepted but I need to let them know by May 22nd if I want to accept the seat. Is Bradenton just waiting for me to see what I do with Erie's offer?

Do you know why there were fewer acceptances for med? Was the gpa requirement higher for med?
Gpa was higher for med but was held the same as what they told us at orientation. Most of the MMS classes are more med based so that may play a role in the gpa differences between the professional programs matriculation rates.

Lol no, I'm 100% sure I didn't click those boxes. Never even got a parking ticket in my life. In addition to all the requirements, it says "Disciplinary Action Form" is required. The portal doesn't seem to update because I sent all the items like 2 weeks ago. I think someone in the forum mentioned that it just means that I need to send a copy of my drivers licence. So hopefully that's all it is.

Why do you ask? Do you have the same thing showing?
According to the website only four hours of physics is required?

Is anyone still waiting to hear back? My application says its under review and the status hasn't changed for 2 weeks.

Same boat here. I applied April 18th, got 1 LOR in by May 1st and the other in by May 8th. I have emailed Ms. Taylor at Bradenton numerous times and she hasn't gotten back to me in over 2 weeks and 5 days on my other chain. I called a couple of times last week and left follow up messages and even lefta note with the secretary who answers the phone and have still yet to hear anything back from them. I want to make sure the school got my LORs so I can rest easy that I did everything on my end. I'm pretty confident that they will accept me with my stats and MCAT score, just a matter of waiting I guess. My application is still "under review".

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about applying for the 2019 cycle do you guys know if they're still accepting people? Also what are the average stats of those who are accepted

After a few weeks, mine finally changed to say " The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days." today. Hopefully yours has too!

Wow those are very impressive stats lol! Makes me nervous! Thank you so much for sharing!

Tbh my extracurriculars aren't that impressive and I don't have many research experiences. In addition my LORs are probably generic. And I took all the easy "science" classes in college like seminars and discussions. I'm sure the adcoms can see right through that. From what I've noticed, adcoms tend to look at things holistically, so I'm really nervous too haha. I got into Erie MMS but I really want to go to Bradenton because of the weather.

I'm sure you'll get into the Bradenton campus as well considering you got into the Erie campus. Good luck! I applied to the Erie campus as well, but it says my application is still under review, while my application status for the Bradenton campus just changed today.

I didn't take mcat yet, so i sent sat and gpa. sat was 2280 and science gpa was like 3.7ish
Danggg! You killed the SAT. Congrats! Hopefully you'll get your acceptance for Bradenton. I'm hoping to get in there because of the weather too. Keep us updated 🙂

How many weeks did it take for your app status at Bradenton to change?

I applied to the program on May 7 and had all my letters, scores, transcripts, resume and essay in. I wasn't able to add grades to the grade entry form until 2 days ago. My status changed the day after I entered my grades.

I applied around April 22nd and my status changed to "under review" around may 4th. On May 21, it changed to "Admissions Committee has made a decision. Considering that a lot of people's statuses changed on May 21st, I think that they mail out decisions on predetermined dates. They are probably waiting for the earlier acceptees to get back to them before sending out more decisions.

This makes a little worried. I hope they had a chance to view my grades before they made a decision, considering my application status changed the day after I uploaded my grades.

I got into the program, but I'm still worried about my AIS score. I got a 492 on the MCAT, do you suggest I retake it?

How is your SAT/ACT? I would just do super well in the program!
My AIS score is 117 and it says that I am eligible for admission into the program. My cGPA and sGPA was on the higher side its 3.8 and 3.65, but I'm still worried about the interview.
