There are also Office Maxes and Staples in Knoxville.

If there is not one near Harrogate, the closest one is probably Halls.

Has anyone who has moved down had time to check out Dollywood and Splash Country? It is lots of fun and you definately should think about getting a season's pass. Splash Country is fun, fun, fun in the summer. Check out the websites
http://www.dollywood.com/ They are both owned by Dolly Parton and this website will lead you to the Splash Country website. My family loves both including my husband and I. We are headed off to Splash Country today...

😆 😆 😆

We Chicagoians are the same way about our pizza. When we were driving around with our realtor, she would say that, "This place has good pizza...it's not Chicago pizza, but..." and Jen and I would just laugh. Our realtor has never had it before and would love to try it. She's had "Chicago-style" pizza from Pizza Hut, but Jen and I just laughed and said that it is nowhere near the same. She was really surprised that the sauce is on top in deepdish. It took our realtor a second to let that one sink in  We love her anyway!!! Actually, once we end up with a house, we are going to send her some Chicago-style deepdish pizza from, perhaps, the best pizza place in Chicago - Gino's East. It is soooooo good and we will miss it. 🙁

Man, I when I first had Chicago pizza, it was the best thing in the world. I road tripped there, and then made it to NYC later in the week. Chicago wins hands down. NY style is too easy to replicate, you can only get Chicago style in Chicago.

Yes, all of the stores are in Knoxville, I was simply stating where the closest one was relative to DCOM. Sorry I forgot to put that in there 😳

I didn't have a chance to grab a Yankees game when I was there, but the Chicago Dog at Wrigley was the bomb as well. Ya'll really know how to do your food up there 👍

Does this add another point to Chicago, or does that grouped with my previous point?

Yeah, it gets added. Plus, I'll add on that the Bulls are better than the Knicks, Bears better than the Giants and the Jets, Sox = Yankees = Suck (tie) and the Mets are better than the Cubs. Hockey doesn't count :meanie: Chicago has the better NASCAR race track (Chicagoland Speedway vs. Watkins Glen), so another point for Chi-town.

Chicago 5.5 New York 1.5

I gotta feeling DocMom might have something to say about this :meanie: But maybe her allegience has switched now that she is in TN. I mean she can't be that much of a New Yorker if she married a Red Sox fan, but I did marry a White Sox fan, so I guess that point is null and void

What's up everyone. I wish I had found this website months ago. I was accepted in March and I've been waiting impatiently since then. I have 3 more weeks of work and then I'm moving. Can't wait...but haven't even started packing yet. I haven't read any on this thread besides the first page, but I'll try to get caught up today and I look forward to getting to know all of you better.

Just curious, does anybody else have the cicada infestation this year??? Chicago has them and where we live, they are all over the place. My parents have thousands in their yard (no joke) and they are swarming all over work. You can't walk into the building without having them divebomb you and land on you. It is just disgusting and gross and it always feels like you have bugs crawling on you. :d :barf: :d

I am in New Lenox and there is so much new construction, that there are very few here. I have driven to Midway a couple of times, and they are really so loud!

They aren't loud, they're deafening. If you want to see any, just come to the Palos Heights area.

Im in Forest Park and I havent seen one Cicada. The next town over River forest is swarmed with them though. I just finished my last Dr. appointment and received my last hep shot, hep titer, and they threw in tetnus shot for good measure. I am starting to get excited about school!!! less than two months and were medical students.... I found a cheap source for medical supplies allheart.com their prices for stethoscopes and other items is pretty good. I also got the stuff I bought quickly 4 days...Remember always go one size up on scrubs and white coats.. comfort is the key....

Nope. That was us a year or two ago. So far now it's been really calm. Well except for the thunderstorm we've got going on now. But atleast it's not hot!

thanks for the welcome guys...I'm in Henryetta, Ok which is about 45 miles S. of Tulsa and 90 miles E of OKC. I was wondering if anyone here has any kids??? I'm married with 3 of my own...just curious to see how many of us are in this boat. Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

I don't have any, but I think kids will out number students. There are a lot of them.

who's up there right now??? we're going to be moving the weekend of the 14th and hopefully getting settled in a little before school starts. We are living in Middlesboro though...how many others are living here? It was the cheapest housing we could find.

Yes, iam getting my scrubs, sandals and a lab coat tomorrow. One lab coat should be fine right? We will be getting one more on white coat ceremony day?

LMAO!!! No, I am not really much of a New Yorker at all. I am a Yankees fan, but I have never really gotten that interested in sports, so it really doesn't matter that much to me. I was born in Virginia anyway. I am very happy to be a Tennessee country girl now. 😀 😍

Welcome and congrats. I am here now and have kids. PM me and I will give you my number. I would love to get together. I am about 30 minutes from Middlesboro. 🙂

So I'm thinking of coming down to look for housing next week and if none of the hotels will let me stay with my dog can I crash with someone for a few days? I can unpack, paint, clean and do floors! 😀

:welcome: Hi.

I live in Knoxville and I have 4 kiddos. :hello:

Also, we have a pop-up we are selling if anyone is interested. Just PM me if you would like more info.

I thought we had to have the DCOM scrubs for lab, am I mistaken?

man you guys are hot to spend money already. save your money and see what you will need when we get there. i wouldnt buy a white coat/lab coat. if we dont get it until october, we probably wont need it until then. i'd also avoid buying scrubs for a while too...i think they will make us wear their special DCOM branded ones. save your money until later

:welcome: Hi.

You can stay with me. That is as long as you don't mind my kids who WILL drive you insane. LOL! PM me if you are interested. I am about 25 minutes from the school off of 63. 😀 Oh, and you don't have to do any work. 🙂

Fall schedule is up http://www.lmunet.edu/DCOM/pdfs/oms1_fall_schedule_07.pdf

Looks like the some of the labs are chopping the class in half or thirds but it doesn't say how they are being sorted out. At the worst we will have class from 8:30-4:30...it all depends on when your labs are of course. The days could be as short as 8:30-2:30...that would be nice.

I am a new to this forum as well and I have 2 kids, but it's just me and them. Thank god they are older and can actually contribute some help.

true, true..i was getting way ahead of myself. I am home now, so i was basically trying to come up with a shopping list for my apt and med school, i am gonna take the scrubs and lab coat off the list for the time being. On the side, i bought an xbox 360 recently and iam sure there a lot of video gamers that will be at DCOM..so you all welcome to challenge me.

Okay, looking at the schedule more closely I see that the are rotating the sections. So those in section A get out at 1:20 one week and then the next week section B gets out at 1:20.

I love how they put the subjects of each lecture/lab in the schedule! This floats my little OCD self's boat

never played a 360, but I'm up for the challenge every once in awhile

yeah, I'm a big fan of that also. Hey where did you find the schedule? Just wonderin if there are other things I'm missin on the website. THanks.

This is pretty cool and exciting. It's hard to believe that school starts in 49 days 😱. I also like how they have each lecture topic on there - definitely makes life easier. Anatomy will be intense but it is structured well, so that will help. One thing will build on another.

This just really sunk this all in for me. It is really starting to feel real now. :scared: Now we just need to sell the condo 😳

it's pretty similar to xbox. However, the controllers dont have the black and white circle buttons instead have a Right button and a Left button similar to a playstation controller. I have PGR 3 , Call of Duty 2, Lost planet games so far..but i cant wait for madden 2008!

I love my 360. My wife bought it as a graduation gift last year. I have PGR 3, Ghost Recon, Madden 07 and Rainbow 6. I would love to buy the next NCAA, but I doubt I will have time to play it much (school and the baby). I would also take a look at the new Halo

you know what's amazing he used to prepare students for USMLE-1, his profile on the dcom website says he still teaches for kaplan. I wonder if he will hook us up with a personal usmle course at DCOM campus?

my buddies have madden 07 and ncaa, they were both rushed to the stores. Madden doesn't have a draft, what's that about? Ghost recon is good, gears of war i heard is even better, i heard good things about rainbow 6..but you are right Halo would def blow all the games away! I am not a big halo guy coz i lose to all my friends in halo but i do appreciate the gaming experience.

That can only help. If I remember correctly, one of the profs used to or still does write questions for the comlex. That will definitely help us out, and DCOM, if our board scores are strong.

I think I just had a panic attack when I looked at the schedule.

It is pretty nice of them to post it this early.

Also, exam days look to be BRUTAL.

Yeah, those exam days don't look like much fun 😱 But they have put in nice breaks in there to help us out. Since the tests are on Mondays, there are no lectures on Fridays (thank God). Maybe profs will have review sessions or something, who knows, but at least we have that time to study.

I just got two FREE roosters today!!!! LOL! WOOT!!! :biglove:  They are about three months old and very calm, so they will make good pets. I need some names for them. The woman has more if anyone wants a rooster. She is going to hook me up with some goats and hens in the future too. Very cool!   Anyone who has kids has to come out and visit us. I will have a petting zoo going soon. Just PM me and I will give you my address and you can come on out. 😀

I worked on a chicken farm for two summers.

I hate roosters. They tend to become mean-spirited as they get older.
