Laura, seriously? I wouldn't call someone 1-2 years younger than me "sooo much younger". That's like an 8th grader thinking they're soooo much older than a 6th grader! :laugh: When it comes down to it . . . they're both just little kids in middle school, as we will all just be big kids in med school. At least everyone is legal! 😉

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post, I just discoverd SDN like a week ago and I can't believe how helpful it has been. I wish I knew about it sooner!

I have my interview at DCOM in a few weeks (Feb 19th) and I'm really hoping I get accepted! I'm from CA, but I have heard soooo many great things about DCOM that I've decided it's my first choice out of the other 4 schools Im interviewing at.

Thanks for everyone posting all the helpful info, current students and those of you who've aleady interviewed or been accepted! 🙂

Can anyone from the area give me an estimate as to what they think the weather will be like middle of Feb? I want to be prepared and hopefully not freeze to death!

good luck on interview day. you will for sure want to attend after seeing the place and meeting the people there. i dont think it will be too cold next month. probably somewhere in the forties during the day but colder at night. that might be cold to you since you are coming from california.

Hi and welcome!

I'm from CA too and I'm heading to DCOM in August. You will fall in love with the place. 😉

As for the weather, maybe some of the current students can comment on how it is right now, but it should be in the 40's during the day and pretty cold (20's to 30's) at night.

Good Luck at your interview and make sure to read the interview feedback on DCOM! :luck:
 
Hey prions this is completely off topic but do you know it wasn't until yesterday that it suddenly dawned on me how incredibly clever your name/aviator combo is........It was like I was struck by lightening, just hit me out of the blue..........no wonder you got into med school, you smartie pants

OK, I can definately handle that weather, it's in the forties here right now. Does it snow alot there? I've only been to the snow a handful of times in my life, so adjusting to snow would be interesting but def not a deterrent!

no it barely snows, if at all, winters are really mild. Jan/Feb are the worst two months and will get in the 30/40's but other than that not bad. Over Xmas we had many 60-70 days....are you in school in cali or are you a native

Haha, very clever indeed prionsRbad 👍 I cant believe I didn't notice that either, on of my cell bio instructors spent a forever talking about proins and mad cow disease.

just got a call from Janette (sp?) this morning, and I think I'm going to take an interview spot for this Friday! So excited/nervous!

It actually snowed yesterday and there is still snow on the ground today and it is supposed to snow tomorrow....so, yea....

The weather has basically been really erratic. It could easily get up to 50s or 60s by feb, or it could continue to be snowing. maybe it depends on the groundhog or something, but you'd be better of asking the week before you come. Congrats on getting an interview

it took them two weeks to get back to me but i was in the first group after thanksgiving so i imagine they were backed up. you should ask seoulsister, she just got accepted.

dointhedarwin- I interviewed last Tuesday (1/15) and heard this morning (1/23)... so just over a week.

count me in as well. I'm driving from Indiana and might not get there until late at night since the weather has been terrible, but I'll do my best. Pizza is my favorite food 😀

im sort of dissapointed that it rarely snows..but oh well...I would imagine the scenery with snow would be beautiful down there

Hey there!! I am flying in to Knoxville tomorrow and driving up from there. I will be at the pizza thing, too. I am so excited to meet all of you!! I hope the drive is not too bad b/c of the weather--I do not exactly know how to drive on snow!!😱
