I heard you had to wear suits and dresses as a sort of dress code at that school everyday, but I'm not sure.

And since it's SDA school, you're required to go to church on Saturdays. And yes, they have an all vegetarian diet. For some reason, the big no nos are shrimp and pork. I don't know why those specifically.

This is what I've been told by their medical school students and nursing students.

Students are not required to go to church on Saturday. Pharmacy students are only required to go to church on Wednesday mornings for an hour with the dental, med, hygenist, and nursing students. Students are required to dress "buisness casual" but this doesn't mean you have to wear a dress or suit. Seventh Day Adventist promote the vegetarian life style but the SDAs that do eat meat usually don't eat pork or seafood because they follow the old testament dietary laws (no pork and no seafood). The "no meat" policy on campus isn't that bad. All it means is that if the school provides food at school functions it's veggie pizza and lasagna (yum) instead of pepporoni pizza and meat lasagna.

Yes, that's true. I guess it depends who you ask, because everyone I ask is Seventh Day Adventist, so they all go to church on Saturdays.

The "no meat" policy is actually quite nice. If you've always wanted to go vegetarian, there's your chance. I've been there and don't worry, it's not all freakish vegetarian food. Some of it is actually nice and greasy, and not much healthier than the usual meaty stuff.

I know some nursing and dental hygiene students there, and yes, there are complaints about cafeteria food - but isn't that just about a universal law? Everyone at some point has complaints about their school's cafeteria.

Oh yeah, they also charge for the condiments... like 5, 10 cents for those tiny foodservice packets of mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of Loma Linda not being accredited yet? and the fact that its a new program...would anyone consider going there over western U? why or why not? From what I've heard Loma Linda seems to be very unorganized...has anyone heard anything positive about the program?

Has anyone heard from Loma Linda regarding interviews for regular applicants?

Thanks! Any response is appreciated 🙂

I turned in my LLU application pretty much on the December deadline, and I was offered an interview by Brian both by phone call and by email on March 21.

thanks xnm11! may i ask if you heard from them about acceptance yet?

I actually declined the interview, since I already had two other acceptances.

Western does not have a cafeteria. They just have a little room with two vending machines and a microwave. It's your choice.

Well a cafeteria doesn't make the pharmacy school. I was just wondering about the reps of the school and which is regarded as having a better pharmacy program.

i wouldn't go strictly off gpa. i had a 3.2 cumulative. i did have some extracurricular activities and a decent personal statement that probably helped a lot.

I have been waiting for what seems like an eternity to hear back from Loma Linda. I applied right before the early application deadline, and when I initially called they had deferred my application. I called again about 6 weeks ago and they were going to review my file (again) within a couple weeks. I have still not heard anything.

Do you have any clues as to what could be going on???? It is now almost the end of April. I have been speaking with a girl who is graduating from llu this may who is interning at a pharmacy in the same complex as me and she said there is still a chance I can get placed on the waiting list even if I don't get an interview. 😕

well, somebody else on a different thread about loma linda said they were still interviewing as of a few days ago...

about the whole being deferred issue...
if you apply before their early application deadline, your application was reviewed sometime by mid-march. you either qualified for an interview and were notified then, or you did not meet their qualifications for an interview and were deferred. being deferred means that your application is thrown in with all the other people who turned in their application by the normal (non-early) deadline. thus, you get another chance at scoring an interview while normal applicants only get that one chance.

i hope this helped, and i wish you good luck! =)
