Hey guys! Goodluck to everyone this cycle. Just to be extra clear, the supplemental application are the VMCAS questions, right?

Application submitted, LSU is my in state. Denied last year, this is my second try.

Are we assuming they are not interviewing anyone this year? That seems so crazy to me, especially since their NAVLE pass rate has dropped so much.

If my timing is right they’d send word on acceptance/denial/waitlist on Dec 13th?

Same here, but not my in state. Where did you see the NAVLE pass rate?

It’s on their website and you can go back further, but here’s the last four:

2021- 96%
2022 - 90%
2023 - 79%
2024 -84%

A buddy of mine in year 3 said that the presumption is that Covid has impacted things, and they also changed up the curriculum although I don’t know when that exactly was. But you can Google any school’s pass rate and others I’ve checked (granted, I didn’t check all of them) are pretty consistent 90% and above with an occasional 80-something.

Wow, it makes sense though that Covid would have had an impact. I really like LSU and am glad that they have dropped there GPA cut off and are trying to be more holistic.

Yes, agreed. It’s so wild to me the schools that don’t interview. But the process is the process.

Is anyone else having trouble submitting the processing fee? I get an error of “No payment methods available. There may be a problem with your account, check the notifications on the overview page.” In which I have no notifications, it is empty. I’ve tried refreshing the page and entering the portal on Google Chrome and Safari. Nothing has worked. I emailed them, and hope I get quick response as the deadline to pay is Oct. 1...

Looks like the website has recently been tweaked a bit….

Thoughts on this statement? They didn’t interview anyone last year and gave all decisions around Dec 15.

“It is the prerogative of the Veterinary Admissions Committee to hold or not hold interviews each cycle. If held, interview performance will be a selection factor for those invited to interview. Information regarding interviews will be communicated to applicants in late December of the application cycle.”

Interesting… it previously said decisions acceptances denials and waitlists would be sent out around Dec 15. Maybe they’re considering interviewing this year?

I was so banking on finding out an answer before Christmas like they did last cycle. And I think the cycle before (2022). My anxiety is through the roof.

I wish if they were going to do interviews it could be communicated before the end of December. That way people don’t anticipate decisions coming out without interviews included

Exactly. I’m 100% sure they gave decisions second week of December 2023. And I’m pretty sure the same week December 2022.

Why would they push it now?

Ok- just combed back through and found the thread from 2022 (class of 2027).

On Dec 20 they gave out in state interviews and OOS acceptances. Then in mid-Feb they gave IS decisions.

I know for a fact decisions for IS were released second week of Dec last year. They did not interview anyone to my knowledge.

Seems they change it up every year. God this makes it even harder to stay calm. 😂

Is being in “folder review” something all applicants have or does that mean we passed some sort of pre-screening of our application?

I’m 90% sure everyone gets that if u meet standard pre reqs and have under the required “in progress” amount

Correct. If you meet the requirements you’ll get a folder review. I also think every IS applicant is guaranteed a folder review.

Has anyone recieved an email from LSU at all? I have not got an email about anything from them - UGA and MSU sent emails about portals and that they were doing application review.

The only email I got was back in September of confirming they received my application with a link to a portal.

For OOS applicants, last year at least, you won’t hear anything until them admit/WL/deny decision in December. Just keep looking at the portal

UGA has a portal?
no my bad ! I meant more like the pay portal - but mississippi does / UGA sent a pay portal to pay for the supplemental fee - and ive received emails from UGA from parker about being in application review - I have not recieved any emails at all from LSU since the supplemental fee was due - Didnt know if that was normal - Mississippi sends emails about admission hours and information all the time.

I've been checking my portal! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything

Got it. Had me worried there haha. Wish you the best!

I would just like to put it out there that when you’re accepted (stay positive!), the pre class offered (WIT) is not really an Anatomy class and more of a “how to study” class. It was a waste of money and time for most of us. Especially because you will be subjected to all of that study information again and forced to attend during your 1st semester. The anatomy time you get is (maybe?) an hour (of the 5 hours) in the lab with a cat and it’s so minimal it’s not worth the precious time you have left to rest and get set up for the start of the year. You do get your badge early and a feel of the school so that was a positive, but you can always just walk in and do that on your own time. Good luck everyone!

if you do not mind me asking, how much does it cost?

First time OOS applicant, 7th VMCAS CYCLE

I’m no rookie to this but good luck everyone.

UPDATE—according to my mentor ( an ACLAM DVM and LSU alum), the application reviews are due December 2 so it will be a few weeks before word is spread. Now is it my understanding they’re not doing interviews??
He also told me that they increased class size to 200

LSU hasn't done interviews the past couple cycles to my knowledge. Last year, acceptances/denials were sent on the 15th of December.

Of the 200 do you know what the new split OOS/IS is?

30 are out of state (Not LA or AR)
ok wait so from class of 2028 according to their website they admitted 48 people outside of LA/AR/& Puerto Rico so I’m sure it’ll be around that still +/- a few

So we might know our status on mid/late Dec or did your mentor not specify anything?

About interviews, I understand from their portal that it's up to the committee to decide on a case basis if they will grant interviews. So yes and no?

I heard this as well! I was also told from some of the students that this incoming class (I know it increases every year) that they received 2,600 applicants this cycle. Still hopeful they release decisions around December 15th-20th like last cycle!

Did your mentor say whether or not they were planning to stick to their usual timeline of around Dec 15~
