So if what everyone’s expecting is right about potential decisions being made in Dec, how are y’all feeling? Personally, I feel sick lol
Haha I feel weirdly calm and confident about it to be honest, even though I have been stressed the whole time leading up to it.So if what everyone’s expecting is right about potential decisions being made in Dec, how are y’all feeling? Personally, I feel sick lol
Thank you for this! It’s hard sometimes but you’re right, there’s nothing else that can be done now.The last two years, OOS decisions have come in mid December. Ask me how I know. lol.
The date will come. There is nothing more you can do to impact your decision. I’ve learned to just be patient and just wait for the decision to come to me. Nothing good comes from calling and asking about your status. I know it’s difficult, but just know that we will all find out our status soon enough.
I feel okay, knowing it’s in God’s hands whatever is supposed to happen will happen. We’re all going to end up right where we’re supposed to be.So if what everyone’s expecting is right about potential decisions being made in Dec, how are y’all feeling? Personally, I feel sick lol
I believe it’s an email along with the portal updateDoes LSU just update the portal with decisions, or do those who are accepted get a phone call as well?
I feel the same…my stomach has been sick all weekend. As a third time applicant, this is my last chance. the thought of having to maybe choose another career after all the years of hard work to get here scares me so much 😭So if what everyone’s expecting is right about potential decisions being made in Dec, how are y’all feeling? From what I have heard they do not plan to hold interviews for anyone this cycle. No interviews for IS or OOS.Anyone have any insight as to if they plan to hold interviews this cycle??
Don't let it be your last! I got in on my 6th cycle (which i also claimed as my last chance) if you want it you can get it!!I feel the same…my stomach has been sick all weekend. It’s not so much I don’t want to keep trying…it’s just that I can’t afford it anymore 😩Don't let it be your last! I got in on my 6th cycle (which i also claimed as my last chance) if you want it you can get it!!
I’m setting myself up to not be disappointed and am going to say week of the 16th. So far almost every school is behind so I’m gonna say they’ll take the extra weekare we speculating that decisions will come out maybe this Friday the 13th this cycle, or maybe the week of the 16th since last cycle they came out on the 15th (the 15th is a Sunday this year). For my sake I hope they come out this Friday lol
this is so valid LOL, I really hope its before Christmas thoughI’m setting myself up to not be disappointed and am going to say week of the 16th. So far almost every school is behind so I’m gonna say they’ll take the extra week
I feel this! I mistakenly added up how much 5 applicants cycles cost between app fees, vmcas fees, transcript fees and supplemental fees along with Casper test fees and so on… could’ve gotten a second masters!!It’s not so much I don’t want to keep trying…it’s just that I can’t afford it anymore 😩
It would also be worthless to these schools. I have a 4.0 masters in microbiology and you would think with the multiple zoonotic diseases running rampant that would be something someone would care about, but alas I’m here with 5 rejections 🙃I feel this! Mine says the same thingMy portal says it was last updated on October 16 2024. Which is sortve relieving because it still says they haven’t verified my pre reqs
This is why I was hesitant to do a masters after being told to. I don’t have the money sitting around for it and it doesn’t guarantee admission! It would also be worthless to these schools. I have a 4.0 masters in microbiology and you would think with the multiple zoonotic diseases running rampant that would be something someone would care about, but alas I’m here with 5 rejections 🙃
So far that's what everyone's been saying. I tried to reach out to the admissions people just to see if they had any info on previous years and when they found out and alas I got "the portal hasn't been updated with decisions yet". Hopefully they're on schedule and we find out Friday - would be super nice to know earlier rather than later.are we speculating that decisions will come out maybe this Friday the 13th this cycle, or maybe the week of the 16th since last cycle they came out on the 15th (the 15th is a Sunday this year). AH! And to think I was banking on my MPH to help me out, good luck this round! It would also be worthless to these schools. I have a 4.0 masters in microbiology and you would think with the multiple zoonotic diseases running rampant that would be something someone would care about, but alas I’m here with 5 rejections 🙃
Yes for meSo does everyone’s portals say folder under review.
That’s just insane. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I hope something works out for you.It would also be worthless to these schools. I have a 4.0 masters in microbiology and you would think with the multiple zoonotic diseases running rampant that would be something someone would care about, but alas I’m here with 5 rejections 🙃
I was waitlisted (and then accepted) at LSU with a masters last year, and I was rejected when I applied previously so the masters helped. Schools certainly look at advanced degrees, but what’s been emphasized on these forums and from admissions committees is that a 4.0 is almost expected in a masters degree. If the grades in graduate school are so inflated, undergraduate grades are still a big part in dividing students up. It would also be unfair to weigh a masters degree heavier than prerequisite courses because not every student is in the financial position to pursue an advanced degree, so prerequisite grades hold weight because it is a metric they can use for every student . In my experience, the masters degree was more helpful because of the research experience that came with it, not because of the grades. But if it makes you feel better, I was also a lower cGPA applicant with a 4.0 in a masters program and I ended up getting accepted to my top two schools. It would also be worthless to these schools. I have a 4.0 masters in microbiology and you would think with the multiple zoonotic diseases running rampant that would be something someone would care about, but alas I’m here with 5 rejections 🙃
Yes for me as well!So does everyone’s portals say folder under review.
yeah, mine changed to saying that a few weeks agoSo does everyone’s portals say folder under review.
I’ve seen you in a few threads saying you haven’t gotten updates from any schools that have given other applicants updates. Maybe double check with VMCAS/ programs that your materials were correctly submitted/everything received ?So does everyone’s portals say folder under review.
I was just curious if everyone’s was the same. I’ve made it past the initial where they make sure you have everything that is required. I think it stays under folder review until decisions go out.I’ve seen you in a few threads saying you haven’t gotten updates from any schools that have given other applicants updates. Oh I see! I thought you were inquiring bc nothing had updated for you. Good luck!! 🙂I was just curious if everyone’s was the same. I’ve made it past the initial where they make sure you have everything that is required. I think it stays under folder review until decisions go out.

Unrelated, but I love your profile picture!!Oh I see! I thought you were inquiring bc nothing had updated for you. Good luck!! 🙂
I do not envy him…Im an IS applicant and ive been in close quarters with a lot of the LSU vet med Staff and dean and I do know he goes through every application and makes the final decision on who gets accepted or not. He reads through all the applications and notes to see why the committee voted to accept or reject an applicant and considering they got 2,600 applicants this go around that def can take awhile when you're the only person going through them at the end. We just gotta stay patient and let everything work in God's favor!!
right LOL definitely a lot of pressureI do not envy him…
Same lol but it is nice to know that each of us are actually getting thoroughly looked atI do not envy him…
Do you like Mizzou? Why didn’t you apply there? My portal says exactly what everyone else is saying too! This is one of my "long shot" schools, but the wait is still intense 😱
I decided to pursue a masters degree after being rejected for the 3rd time, and I will share my experience.
I have been an active lurker and member of SDN for the past 4 years and after 3 attempts of applying to vet school, I think this could be the cycle I gain acceptance! 🤓 in past years, I only applied to 1-2 schools. This past cycle, I applied to 8!! So far, I have been denied to WSU and waitlisted for an interview at KSU.
To make myself more competitive, I retook 100 units (not a typo!!) where my grades were a B/C or lower. As of now, I am in a masters program at Mizzou studying veterinary public health (VMPH), and have a 3.8-3.9 in the program, with a set graduation in spring 2025. After my 3rd rejection in prior cycles, I decided to enroll in this masters program and it has been a real wonderful experience! The person who told me about the VMPH is someone I met here, on SDN! She graduated from the VMPH program in 2023 and got accepted into vet school the same year. This cycle, I applied to CSU (vet prep hopeful), MSU, UMN, ISU, WSU, WesternU, LSU, and KSU, and will keep updating my progress on this portal to continue to share my experience, and HOPEFULLY, once I gain acceptance, I can help someone out there who needs some support or info on the Mizzou veterinary graduate program, which I really love.
Good luck everyone!![]()
Great question! Admissions told me that they prefer undergraduate grades and that my grades from the graduate program are not heavily considered. My cGPA is low too, so theres that...Do you like Mizzou? Why didn’t you apply there?
I’m in the same boat almost 4.0 MS in Vet Med Sciences and Missouri, Oregon, LIU, UPEI and Washington all said no thanks. I think we just have to trust the process. I’m really heartened to see how much change is happening in the admissions procedures over time. Just wish it would switch to a more holistic process overall a hair sooner! It would also be worthless to these schools. Gosh, even with that stellar GPA? Well, you said it perfectly and I've been entertaining this mindset: trust the process and we will get accepted to where we belong. I truly believe that and I'm excited to meet others here who are so close to having their dreams come true! I'm rooting for you now too!! I hope you are expected to hear from more schools this cycle!!I’m in the same boat almost 4.0 MS in Vet Med Sciences and Missouri, Oregon, LIU, UPEI and Washington all said no thanks. This is so interesting. I’ve been seeing this on SDN a lot that undergraduate grades are more important. I don’t quite understand this. I guess graduate courses are graded less harshly? It just makes it difficult for anyone who took a while to find their groove in undergrad.Great question! Such an excellent point! I am in this very situation! This is so interesting. I’ve been seeing this on SDN a lot that undergraduate grades are more important. I don’t quite understand this. I think it’s a combination of undergraduate courses being more uniform between applicants, and graduate GPAs being inflated. I made a 4.0 in my masters degree, and while I know I worked hard on my grades throughout graduate school, I will be the first to admit that a 4.0 there is very different from a 4.0 in undergrad. For example, over half of my hours in grad school were research hours. As long as I was doing some form of research, writing my thesis, and showing my PI some form of data, I was going to make an automatic A in over half of my hours, every semester. It was work, but it was a different form of work than sitting in 15+ hours of classes and having exams in all of them like in undergrad and in vet school.I’ve been seeing this on SDN a lot that undergraduate grades are more important. See my masters is very different than that lol I took many upper level science courses that were much more difficult than my undergrad classes, many of which were given through the medical school of my university. My research credits were SP not graded so all of my actual coursework is credits I (personally) worked harder for than my undergrad classes and maintained a 4.0. Which sucks that schools can’t see thatI think it’s a combination of undergraduate courses being more uniform between applicants, and graduate GPAs being inflated. I’m not downplaying the work any of us put in throughout grad school. The courses I took were harder than the courses I took in undergrad, and included courses I took at LSU SVM with some of the vet students and house officers. For me though, it was half hard classes and half research courses. I was also taking less hours per semester in grad school of pure classes (because of the research), so there was more time to focus on those hard classes. That isn’t equivalent to undergrad where you could’ve been taking organic chemistry, microbiology, physics, etc. in the same semester, which is very similar to vet school taking anatomy, physiology, immunology, etc. in the same semester.See my masters is very different than that lol I took many upper level science courses that were much more difficult than my undergrad classes, many of which were given through the medical school of my university. Oh yea didn’t think you were downplaying it. Just wanted to offer my perspective to show truly how variable it is. I just wish schools gave it more weight bc I felt like I sold my soul to get that mf degree 🤣🤣 but I totally understand why undergrad is weighted the way it is bc everyone takes the same prerequisites. I think I’m just feeling scorned overall lolI’m not downplaying the work any of us put in throughout grad school. Again, I don’t at all mean to down play graduate school or the work any of us put in. I worked my tail off for a 4.0 in grad school, and i’m very proud of it and believe it has benefited me a lot thus far in vet school. But I think what we’re seeing in this thread and you’ll see in other threads is that there is a very wide range of what grad school looks like for people. My research counted for my GPA, yours didn’t, so that’s a big difference between two graduate GPAs that admissions committees would have to differentiate. Some of us completed research and theses, some people just took courses, another big difference. My whole point is that it is harder to evaluate graduate GPAs when there is so much difference between programs, versus undergraduate GPAs which are more standardized and more aligned with a vet school curriculum.
