Hello everyone. I got an offer to the pre-selection semester in feb at Massey. Anyone else is applying there? Have you heard anything about the education there? Based on my search it is one of the cheaper options (compare that to the OOS unis in the US). Only the university of Edinburgh was about 10,000 dollars cheaper. I am curious about enyone else's findings.

I’m also applying (I’m applying to Edinburgh as well). I’ve submitted my VMCAS application but have yet to submit the Massey-specific application, so naturally I haven’t heard anything from them yet.

I applied to Massey but I don't think I've seen anything about the Massey-specific application...

I just mean the application on Massey’s website that’s due Nov 1—since VMCAS alone doesn’t constitute a complete application for them.

I'm also applying to Edinburgh. I didn't know I met the qualifications until after I missed the VMCAS deadline, so I'm applying through UCAS and the deadline for that is mid-october. I first thought UCAS is only for EU and Non-north American students, but there are US qualification sections on their website, so I'm hoping Edinbrugh will accept my application. Has anyone applied through UCAS?

Applying to Massey is fairly straighforward and everyone gets an invite to the pre-selection semester if they don't qualify to start the professional phase. Good luck!

Has anyone submitted the Statutory Declaration yet? If so, I’m a bit confused by it; is this something I can just type up, print at home, then get notarized? Is there a specific form for it that I need to find online?

Does anyone know the admissions timeline?
· 1 Nov 2024: Supplementary applications due for VMCAS applicants and Group 1 applications due.

· Oct/Nov 2024: Some students invited to MMI online self-recorded interviews

· Nov/Dec 2024: Some students invited to live 1-1 interviews

· Late Dec 2024: All applicants notified of application status

· 24 Feb 2025: Group 1 classes start (BVSc pre selection semester)

· 15 March 2025: Group 2 decision deadline

· 14 July 2025: Group 2 classes start (BVSc)

This this directly copied from an email I received. Hopefully that helps! I completed the MMI online interview on Saturday.

Thank you for replying!! I just submitted the “no felony” statement so hopefully I get an interview soon. How was the MMI?

They give practice questions, and that was really helpful to getting used to recording myself speaking.

Has anyone logged into the portal lately? It won’t load and I’m not sure if it’s a me issue or a them issue.

Just got my denial, due to low science GPA. Good luck to those who interviewed!!

Rejected as due to science GPA. They didn't mentioned their minimum though.

I didn’t get any email, just a message in the applicant portal.

Got my rejection today. Is anyone going to the pre selection semester?

There’s just no way I can justify the pre-selection semester. Given that it starts before many other schools will release admissions decisions and going to NZ would be a huge deal for me, I wouldn’t want to go all the way there just to find out I got accepted in the U.S. I would consider it if I felt like it gave me a really good chance of acceptance afterwards, but their website makes it sound like anyone who does it is just another applicant. I can’t very well move across the world for six months for that.
At least, that’s what it seems like to me! I’m more than open to hearing everyone else’s thoughts on it!

I get that I am in the same boat. I got an acceptance into SGU already so I don't think I could accept a chance at going to vet school over actually going to one.

Congrats on the acceptance! Timeline-wise, I suppose it’s possible to do the pre-selection semester and then still go to another vet school in the fall (depending on the other school’s start date), but that’s only if the cost of getting to NZ, finding a place to live, tuition, etc. is feasible.

I was in a webinar a month or two ago and they said the majority of pre selection do get accepted. I think it's like 80%ish percent. I mean, I'd absolutely hate to be in the 20% but the odds seem favorable. I'd definitely message admissions though to confirm.

Hi! I am currently a 2nd yr international massey student and we have yet to wear scrubs! We live in our massey overalls though! (given to you by the school). So if you're the type of person that would prefer to wear scrubs to lab grab whichever color! Many of my classmates just wear regular clothes with our required labcoat on top! I'd buy a labcoat over scrubs with your discount, we use those every week and its mandated!
