Massey 2025-2026 (c/o 2030 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hello everyone. I am planning on applying to vet schools this cycle., and Massey is one of m top choice. I am wondering if there's a different between applying through VMCAS (due in September) and through direct application (due in November). Is there any pros and cons?

You probably already made a decision, but I thought I'd share my experience anyway. I applied directly to Massey 2 years ago and the process was extremely drawn out and difficult to navigate. Ultimately, they denied me on the basis of a disability and I think that's what complicated the process so much, so YMMV. I think applying through VMCAS would be more streamlined and, hopefully, less of a headache.

I was considering reapplying this year and just got the admissions information guide from them. Unfortunately, due to being a nontraditional student with no recent full-time study, it looks like my application wouldn't even be considered for direct entry to the professional phase. I strongly recommend reviewing the document if you haven't and contacting admissions directly with any questions, they're very willing to help.

Thank you SO much for posting the doc, I hadn't come across it and had no idea about how they calculated the science GPA and am now sending them an email to ask a clarifying question

Thank you! I've been contacting with their admissions for questions and I'll be applying directly to avoid the fee on VMCAS. Good luck with the application!

Anyone else applying this cycle? My daughter applied for the professional stream and has an MMI interview in a few days. She loves that Massey has a wildlife hospital since she wants to be a wildlife rehab vet (she has hundreds of hours working in a very large wildlife rehab facility and still volunteers there once per week while working f/t at a domestic animal hospital). She applied via VMCAS.

I was just offered a spot in their upcoming class as an international applicant for the professional phase 🥳

Congratulations!

May I ask when you had your in-person intervie?
Thank you! I was emailed about scheduling my live interview on November 26th and scheduled my interview for December 3rd. They told me during the interview that I’d hear back before Christmas so I knew I’d hear back before the 25th. Only thing is I didn’t apply through vmcas, I opted to apply through their website to avoid the additional fee, I’m not too sure of the timeline for vmcas applicants

She was also told she'd hear before Christmas, so hopefully she'll hear soon. Are you going to accept your seat?

Hopefully, good luck to her! I’m not sure yet, I’m still waiting to hear back from the other schools I’ve applied to, all in the US
