whoops, it looks like someone already posted the link.
I'm listening to California rap right now so I guess you can call it a moderate high.
No THC though.
Anyone know who matched into Harvard derm? Last year, I believe it was only one person.
I am feeling like an idiot having to google some of the schools acronyms...UWSMPH blew me away.. Who knows Wisconsin by that name?? ..Am I the only one having a problem here?

Lol, that was a real match list.Lol were those supposed to be in the pre allo social thread?
wow Emory didn't have a single person go for radiology.

Dumb question: is a Preliminary without a follow-up spot pretty much always code for "didn't match"?
I never understood why everyone makes a big deal about match lists. Maybe I've grown older and wiser being a medical student now but a lot of people I know did match at well known places but it wasn't their first choice or second choice even so how can we say what is a good match or not? If we don't know how many got their top choice. We don't know why something is or isn't a person's top choice or who has changed what field they are going to match into based on their lower step scores (i.e. who didn't get their real dream job). We don't know why the numbers are skewed towards different fields bc each class has people with different interests. So I mean what value does it really provide to your life to see a match list?
Now that I've been through the match, I'm also seeing how the bolded statement is so often true. Even more common is that some of the "well known" places have very mediocre programs.
I think the only value a match list provides is assurance that your school places people into XYZ specialty and in XYZ geographical locations.
does it really matter if it's their first choice or not though? like regardless of the students' preference, if there was significant enough interest on the other end for the student to match into a good name, that probably speaks well for the school. although like you said I think there's a difference between good names and good programs.
Many specialties start in PGY2, and require a prelim year in either medicine or surgery, or a transition year. So when you match you actually match twice - once for your intern year and second for your actual specialty (that you will start in July 2016).
If someone has only a prelim position, it pretty much means they didn't match into a full residency and had to take a prelim year as their only option for a job.
It looks like 4 people have prelim surgery only spots.
This likely means they didn't match in something, not necessarily in surgery. (Ie they were probably applying for stuff like ENT, plastics)
About every two years.any idea when the new Charting Outcomes is released?
About every two years.
I think the only value a match list provides is assurance that your school places people into XYZ specialty and in XYZ geographical locations.
Sure, some conclusions are legit (georgetown matches unusually large numbers into ortho, MCW does the same into anesthesiology, Penn cultivates applicants interested in the research-focused northeastern hospitals, etc...)
Does anyone have the USC list?!
I assume you're talking about USC in CA and not SC. Our list might be harder to come by as we were specifically asked not to distribute it.
Not even a deidentified list? That seems like an odd policy.

I'm a premed so my question may be just ignorance. I noticed quite a few Kaiser positions in UCSF that I did not see in other UC's. Is Kaiser a competitive place to go to and does it have good training?
So, for the list above (Loyola), does that mean that 4 people didn't match for surgery? It shows 6 in prelims, and only 2 going to advanced programs.
It looks like 4 people have prelim surgery only spots. This likely means they didn't match in something, not necessarily in surgery. (Ie they were probably applying for stuff like ENT, plastics)

... Very interesting. The 2014 match list WAS distributed to admitted applicants 2-3 months ago; the email stated the list was "not for distribution."Not even a deidentified list? That seems like an odd policy.
The person who posted the Loyola list edited their post after we replied. Not sure why. Initially they had posted 6 prelim gen Surg and specified how many of those 6 had also matched to an advanced position
