However, seeing how its 5 pm now in MN ,we may have to wait another day...
Here's another one waiting for word from Mayo. I was one of those last minute applications, so we'll see. How long did any of you wait for secondaries?
Congrats on the first SDN Mayo acceptance for 2008!
However, you just made me very nervous now and even more anxious to hear back from Mayo! However, seeing how its 5 pm now in MN ,we may have to wait another day...
--and best of luck to all of you with interviewis. My best response to the "Why Mayo" question is to go to the Mayo website and prepare your own answer. If I had even two seconds to spare I probably would spend them biting my nails off in anticipation. So, I guess it's not such a bad thing that between classes and the lab I spent 16 hours at school today. And now I'm too tired to worry. 😴
S
Thoffen, when did you get the you've paid email? (I'm waiting anxiously for some news of a secondary. 🙂
Thanks!
Yeah, well, I'll cover the graveyard Mayo worry-shift for you guys. I'll be the one sitting up watching my inbox at 1:36am CST tonight for an interview invite. And this Friday night. And next Monday night again. And then next Friday night. And then I'll cry. 😳 Two more hours to go tonight! Am I being silly or what?
And you know what? If I do get that invite, you bet I'm going to ask Jane in person what's up with this 1:30am CST invite deal.
i checked my e-mail as soon as i woke up this morning! no news yet, but i'll be waiting Friday night with you 🙂

From the admissions website:
The Admissions Committee meets weekly from October through March to review and rank each candidate.
During the admissions cycle, a review of all ranked candidates will occur every four to six weeks, at which time appointment offers are made.
Those applicants not receiving appointments during the initial review will receive notification of their "hold status." During each subsequent review, all previously reviewed applicants remain active and eligible to receive appointment offers.
This periodic and "rolling" admissions process allows for all applicants to remain active for admissions consideration, irrespective of their interview dates, until the class is filled by March 15.
Not sure but it seems that you are on hold regardless of how poorly they think of you.
Just wanted to add that I got the hold email this afternoon too.
Even though I know it's not over until the fat lady sings, I'm still bummed... but it makes me feel better that it seems most people have been put in the hold pile for now. If this cycle is like last years, only five people were accepted outright through December (total, per Jane, per last year's Mayo thread). Here's hoping we still have a shot!!
And does anyone know if they do reject people post-interview instead of holding everyone? I thought Jane said on our interview day that about some people were rejected after they were ranked, if they were a bad Mayo fit.

Do you get a complete email? I sent my essays in on Sunday and haven't heard back?
i sent my essays in on september 21st. i was complete on october 5th....and i still haven't heard back from them. i didn't get an email back saying i was complete. i had to call the office. i am thinking that i will get an email tonight....or this week hopefully about interviews.
So approximately 2 week time frame from submit to complete?
Thanks!Yes, it should be around two weeks from submit to complete, and two to three weeks from complete to invite decision.
For those who are on hold, keep your chin up. Apparently each of you has been ranked, and each and every month they pick the top apps off the pile with the highest ranking (with the intent to also make up a diverse student body as well). No one is rejected until much later in the season. If you didn't get the acceptance this month, it just means that there were people above you with a higher ranking. Next month, it could be you! Jane said that there tends to be a large number of highly qualified (and highly ranked) applicants early on, so I suppose it may be harder to get that acceptance right off the bat in October. I think she said that they only actually gave out FIVE acceptances after that first meeting. Jane did confirm that a large portion of the class was initially put on hold and then accepted last year. GOOD LUCK!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I think I must still be dreaming! Jane just let me know I'll be getting an invite tonight!!!!! Believe it or not, I dreamed last night that I got a Mayo invite in my inbox, and I woke up at 6:30am to check my email on my phone while I was half asleep. No Mayo email. Sadly, I went back to sleep. I had a funny feeling and checked again on my phone as I was waking up just now, and I had an email from Jane with the AMAZING news!!! I think she felt bad that I said I was waiting up by the computer at 1:30am every night this week to see what the news was. She's SO nice!
To sum up: I must still be dreaming, because I can't BELIEVE I actually got an interview invite to Mayo!!!! I know the chance of getting accepted is next to nil, but I'm so honored that they're even going to consider me for their class. I don't think WOO HOO even remotely conveys my excitement! For those of you that already got the invite/interviewed, how is it scheduled once you get the invite? Do you call? Online? And about how far out is the interview date from when you receive the invite. One month? Two? Any info appreciated! Thanks!! I can't believe I actually get to go read through the SDN interview feedback forum for MAYO now!!!
Congratulations Phoenix! So glad you're finally getting your wish! You schedule your interview online. I'm not sure how far out they are in scheduling interviews, I scheduled mine for like 2 weeks out but could have scheduled it for the same week, but that was back in september. Good luck! PM me if you have any Mayo questions!
Congrats phoenix! You will love Mayo, well already sounds like you do. Mayo really looks at the whole person and not just the numbers. The interviews are super laid back and the day is packed with info and things to see. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and see as much as you can because they do NOT have a second look weekend.
Thanks! So, where did you guys stay? Student host, or a hotel? If a hotel, which? And did you guys fly directly to Rochester, or fly to Miinn and take the shuttle?
