Mco

At my interview, they said it would be 2-3 weeks. I got my acceptance 5 days after the interview. When did you interview? Where are you from? Mail could be slow? Good luck!

I have had bad experiences with MCO. I loved the school and the faculty, but they are terrible with mail. Last year they put me on the wait list about two months after I interviewed (Feb 2002), then about a month later they sent another letter telling me that I was in the top third, and that if they had "normal" turnover, I should get in. Well, I never heard back from them, not even a rejection. I interviewed this cycle in October, and about a month after interviewing, they told me I was on the wait list again. I can't believe they interviewed me again, just to waitlist me. I'm kind of bitter about the whole thing.

I received my post-secondary/pre-interview rejection about a week ago. My application had been complete sometime in October I think. 🙁

I am from Chicago. I am not a Ohio resident. I haven't interviewed yet, but I also haven't received any rejection letter from them. I have an interview at Rush on March 31. However, I am hoping to get one more just in case. So far, I have only interviewed at UIC, and they have put me on hold up to this day. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself during the Rush interview. If I can get an invitation from MCO, at least I can relieve some of those tensions I have.

Obviously, I like Rush a lot. However, I want to have some insurance if I don't get in. If I can get into Rush, I will probably not even go to MCO for their interview. I heard many negative things about their school.

Well, just to add a counter to those who have had bad luck with MCO, I, like a previous poster received my acceptance in less than a week after my interview (Nov.). A friend of mine also received an acceptance a couple weeks after his interview. We are both out of state, so I dont know if that makes a difference. Because I got a response so quickly, I am surprised to hear that others have had trouble. I would definitely call them just to make sure everything is ok. Good luck to everyone.

I have to agree with kam. It's odd to hear that some of you have been having problems with MCO. I interviewed in Jan. and they told me I'd find out in about 3 week's time. And I did, although not the answer I was hoping for but at least I'm on the waitlist. I really really liked the school because the faculty and students were super nice and approachable! (The interviews were actually so low pressure that it threw me for a loop when they started asking me about medicine.)
elperro, they said that the top 1/3 of the waitlist should get in, so keep your chin up and hopefully we'll both be going there come this fall. 🙂
jwong, may I ask what types of negative press you've been hearing about MCO? One positive that I have to bring up is that you can get Ohio residency after 1 year and save some $$$$!!!

Actually, my interviewer was a former dean of Rush and is now chief of surgery at MCO. He said that when he was at Rush, they actually looked at MCO's curriculum and used it as one of their models. Surprisingly, its facilities and faculty were very nice. I'm not sure where I will go next year. I had such a good experience that I am struggling between MCO, OSU, and Case. I also have an interview at Pitt at the end of March. As soon as I decide, I'll open up the spots.
