dude, what the hell are you moaning about? You're in at a better school so just go there. Don't worry about UM. A lot of us are on multiple waitlists, so we're kinda anxious, especially about UM. If people wanna complain, they're free to complain. BTW, just coz your numbers are above a school's averages doesn't mean you're entitled to an interview. Believe me, I found that out the hard way this year. Different schools look for different things.

p.s. sorry•••••luke - it is very weak to put down people who don't get an interview at a particular school. i'm sure they wanted people who fit in with UM's lofty 28 mcat. i guess i don't but you do. i may not have received a UM interview, but at least i didn't screw it up like you did mr. p smurf - i agree with you. the process is random and people who have great #s get denied interviews at podunk state but get them at harvard. shouldn't make podunk state people calling others a**holes like ms. luke did me.

my original point was that peeps on this board are crying that miami is giving them the cold shoulder yet they "deserve" to get in. i am saying that due to the process, people who are just as "deserving" may not even get interviews so those who do should not act like they have been raped. in fact, they are quite lucky.

i share in your pain when it comes to UM. good luck to those of you waiting to hear (except luke crygand) and congratulations to those of you who actually did get in.

You complain that the posters in this thread are whining way too much, yet your first post in this thread came across as....dare I say it, but.... WHINING!! You claimed that you have a 35 MCAT and didn't get an interview. What did you want from us? Did you want us to pat your little head and say: "We are not worthy of having the privilege to whine. Only Mr. Top 15 School may have that privilege."? You claim that you don't care that UM dissed you because you got into better schools, yet you still read this thread religiously (or so it seems). The truth of the matter is that you really wanted to go to UM (otherwise you wouldn't be working there and using connections) and you are taking your frustration out on those who got interviews. Please take your jealousy elsewhere. We were having cordial discussions among friends here before you showed up.
 
I have noticed that all Florida threads deteriorate into insults. When there used to be a search function, I checked last year's threads and the same thing happened. Is this a Florida thing? :D :wink:

i have nothing against people ripping on me IF THEY GOT IN. good for you! but notice, this isn't happening, probably because those who GOT IN are probably mature enough not to insult someone who was deserving and did not get an interview.

crygand - if you think that this process is not random, you are being ridiculous. and yes, i did say that those who got interviews are lucky - meaning FORTUNATE - not that it was pure luck. i'm sure most everyone has a place they feel they deserved an interview but didn't get one. your argument about less debt is lost on me since UM is private and pretty damn expensive.

canes - i will go ahead and assume you are also on a WAITLIST, since those who got in likely do not stoop to rip on those who did not interview.
and it did not sound like a friendly conversation, but more like a "misery loves company" society.

as a sidebar, UM is a very political place. i know exactly why i did not get an interview, and unfortunately it had nothing to do with my application. regardless, i am not crying about it, as i'll end up with my MD just like most of you. my mentor at UM, who holds a very high faculty appointment here, told me i would be better off going elsewhere anyway.

finally, as the king of south beach, i will soon be leaving my post. i am now accepting applications for a successor. anyone who ends up at UM and wants to know the in's and out's of the sobe underworld, let me know.

good luck to ALL. i hold no grudges, even against those such as crygand who call me a**hole (and claim it's not a bad word hahaha) and canes2006, who babbled something about friends whining. and yes canes, please pat me on the head. finally someone understands what i was looking for! :p

I have not been placed on the official waitlist yet, although I don't doubt that I will ultimately be placed there. Who cares? The truth is that UM isn't worth getting pissed off over. Although I am glad that I was able to be an assistance to you. Anytime you need a good pat on the head for being a nice, dumb puppy, by all means, PM me. I will be the first in line to do so. :p Thankfully, we will not have the pleasure of being classmates in medical school. Having a bitter and frustrated classmate as yourself would be very annoying to say the least. But, I wish you the best in your future endeavors nonetheless. :rolleyes:

Eee...I see things are getting all yucky and mean-spirited!

Well I have a different perspective on GETTING an interview at UM and NOT getting in--the point being that YOU GOT AN INTERVIEW :D . I most certainly did not--I believe my GPA was to beneath the "high and mighty" (HA! POO ON THEM! :p :clap: ) FL schools so I got NO interviews from ANY!

To me the fact that all of you are on waitlists means you're obviously great candidates! Especially since only one of my friends here at the main campus have gotten accepted! They're awesome and they're waiting too :( . So just hang in there--don't get mad at the meanies on this thread, and just keep the faith! You guys must have been great to have gotten this far! :clap: Good luck on that mailbox!

PS...it was HELLA hot <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" /> out on the UM med campus today--I had to turn in about two papers to my Micro professors and almost DIED of heat exhaustion...I guess next year it will be frostbite right!

Ok guys. I think we should all stand back and take a deep breath. I think we are just taking out our frustrations about UM on each other. These name callings have got to stop. "Dickhead", "dingus", and "loser" are way out of line. Even my "dumb puppy" was a little out of line. :wink: I must admit that Stallion's comments came across as a little offensive, but I can assure you that he did not mean to come across in this fashion. We have been talking through PM, and he calmly stated his points. He is a decent guy, who is just as frustrated with UM's conduct as we are. And, like we, he has a right to be. He has great stats and yet UM gave him the cold treatment. I think instead of attacking each other we should redirect our anger at the real target: UM!!! So, DOWN WITH UM!!!!!

Please, do not flame me. I am not taking sides. But, I really think that this name calling is inappropriate in the lips of America's future physicians. Peace. :)

Unfortunately, she will not be staying in Miami for medical school (UM didn't interview her---inexplicably!! :mad: ). But, she is going to a great medical school--University of Rochester.

My days on campus are numbered (graduate on May 10). If you knew who I really am, you would be shocked. I'm pretty quiet in real life and a little shy. I sort of keep to myself on campus. But, once you get to know me I loosen up in a major way. As you guys can tell by my posts. :D

hey boys and girls, I got my UM rejection today. No interview and secondary completed in August. Hope this helps put another piece into your jigsaw puzzle cave. I also got one from albany and felt bad because they had offered me an interview which I turned down and never notified them formally to withdraw my application. Hope everyone else's news, especially cave-cat :confused: , is positive!
