CCP is a good school, but I do not want to own 200k by the time I finish the school. Remember, 200k is just the money you own without interests. I believe it will take 20k more for interests. Yeah 220k. Would you like to spend more than 10 years to pay your loan? Ask yourself.

Yes. I'll pay whatever it takes!

wow, what a discussion.

My point I was trying to make earlier is the CCP budget is overestimated. Unless you live an extravagant lifestyle, there is no need to spend 50K+ a year. So far, I've loaned around 35-40K each year, and have been fine living in the dorms. Expenses for books aren't as expensive as they appear since we don't really use textbooks here. Notes/packets are either provided to us or offered at the bookstore for cheaper prices since they're readers. In the budget, the school used their health insurance prices, which is way way way WAY more expensive than what most other companies are offering ($700+/quarter...ridiculous!).

I have relatives here in Chicago (I'm from out-of-state) but declined staying with them for the freedom, convenience, and social life  We have the rest of our lives to work, why not enjoy what time you have exploring a new city and meeting new people during what little time you have as students?

I don't know if 5minutes was sleeping while they had financial aid presentation, but the yearly cost was in the 45k not the 50k. It also included food (with how busy you are you won't be eating 3 full meals every day), living (don't take the expensive housing), books (most lectures don't require books, use library, or buy them online and not full price), etc. So 40K a year sounds about right... depending on if you decide to also have a job too then you'll be paying off part of the loan while in school.

45k is in state, 52k is out of state. That is what I saw on thier financial aid paper.

Only if you live Off Campus would it be that high. Also look at what they are including. Personal expenses. Would you be using loans to pay for your laptop? clothes? etc? they included auto insurance + registration... books and supplies which will be lower like i said before. room and board includes food but you can take out food as you won't be using all those meals anyway and save a lot (you'll be surprised how much budget food takes up).

When I go to school, I never think of myself as paying for only the tuition. I think of myself as paying for the whole package (the experience, the social life, everything!) So what if you end up spending a little more for college? Your own personal growth lasts a lifetime. And besides, I don't think pharmacists will have trouble paying off loans anyway, considering they do make a ton of money.

Completely Agree. what's the difference with couple of thousand per year when we all know that a pharmacist salary will be able to pay that back. so it's more about finding a school that you really like and fits you well.

personally I'm really intrigued about their rotation program where we can make arrangements to go any where we want.

😀 I'll take out the loans, I just want to be taken off the alternate list! ESCA you're so lucky you're already accepted.

"mandatory candidate visit" today seemed to go pretty well. I enoyed it and met a few people. Definitely learned a few things (some good, some bad). Just wish our tour guide didn't have an exam to get to so that we could've actually seen the campus as opposed to speed walking from building to building. Oh well... can't say I blame her. I would've done the same damn thing if I had an exam.

hey man, just wondering. What group were u in yesterday? I was in group 2

Had an interview yesterday. I wanted to warn those who will have Rochelle Rubin as an interviewer. To me she came off as being rude. She did a good job turning me off at wanting to attend their university. Other than that, the school was professional and organized.

really? how so. I had her too but she came off as being nice in our group (group 2). May I ask who you were?

group 3.

Sorry to hear that you got a bad interviewer chetori. Unfortunately it happens. I got one last year for Hawaii. Just try not to let them influence you too much. You obviously applied there for a reason, so make sure you really weigh the pros and cons before let her make up your mind for you.

I had her as my interviewer during the second interview date that they offered. Based on my personal experience, I thought she was nice and probably one of the friendliest interviewers and I didn't see anything wrong with her. Like MIkeNB, I'm curious to know as to what she did to turn you off.

Yes. I'll pay whatever it takes!

I'll pay whatever the amount it takes me to earn that PharmD. All I have to do is to get accepted to any school this year. That's all I ask for. Seriously, I haven't looked at the $$$ for the schools I applied to, but I should probably look at it once I get accepted. 😱

Does anyone know if Midwestern will take your highest PCAT score??? I'm scared that I did worse in the October PCAT than last time. 🙁

I had my interview on the 12th. I was in group 4. There were two Californians in my group alone. I was there since Monday night and stayed with a friend who lived in the older dorms who is a p1. Anyone here from that interview date? I was in the batch where I did the essay first and interview second. 🙂

Hey guys, when you get a notification for an interview are you getting it via email? Is there a place on the PharmCAS application that you can check for an update? I don't see anything on the page for "interview" under status.

Also, do you only get offered an interview once the supplemental application has been submitted?

thanks!

That is not A Little Bit more, It is a lot more.😀
Besides, A pharmacist does have trouble to pay off loan. Remember, you have to pay for tax too. Some graduates decide to have family, some buy Lexus, so on. If you do not want any of those, be ready for at least 6 years to pay off your loan. So let me conclude, 4 years of college + 6 more years to pay off Loan= 10 years. Good luck!

In south Florida, Walgreen have already planned to fire 10% of thier pharmacisst to build a new system of drugs deliveries. This profession is always changing. Who knows what will happen by the time you graduate.

Hey yall, This is Gady from Texas...... Wondering if anybody else is going to be at the Dec 3rd interview. And for those who have done theirs......Pls answer.

1. Is there going to be an essay (how many words and time allowed)
2. How many questions.
2. What kinda questions. Is it face to face or group.

1. It depends. The interview can last as long as 40-45 minutes. It depends on the questions and the length of the answers of the students.

2. They have a list of questions they go through. Like I said, it all depends on the students answers.

3. It's a group interview. You are going to be in a group of 4 or 5 other students. Be prepared to answer typical interview questions like "Why Pharmacy? Why Midwestern? Introduction" etc, etc.

Hmmm. I've never had financial problems. My parents have paid my tuition in full, and trust me, the college I go to now is more expensive than pharmacy school. I don't think it will take 6 years to pay off my loans, because I will probably get help from my parents. But even if does take me 6 years, I wouldn't care. I would be done with pharmacy school by the time I'm 24 (assuming I get in! haha) and I'll be in debt until I'm 30. I would still be quite young, so I'm okay with that! 😎

I'll be at the Dec 3 interview. If the weather doesn't change, I'm betting it's gonna be a super cold and windy one, possibly with some snow.

Did you skip a grade or plan to finish your BS in 3 years? You're so young! I'm thankful and blessed that my parents were able to pay for my tuition during my undergrad years in full as well. They're planning to help me pay for pharmacy school as well, although I might have to borrow some money since they would have to pay for my brother's tuition as well (he's going to start college next fall). 😱 No matter how long it takes for me to pay off my loans, I will still do it (with a bit of sacrifice) as long as I earn my PharmD degree.

Oops I meant to say 25! Just realized that I won't start grad school until fall 09 (*crosses fingers*). But yeah, I took a lot of AP classes when I was in high school, so I'm slightly ahead. I have a friend who will only be 23 by the time she gets her PharmD. She's one of those few lucky people who decided what she wanted to do right after high school.

When I looked back, I kind of wished that I apply for either their 2+3, 3+3, or 4+3 program at UOP back in high school. If I did the 2+3 program, then I would have earned my PharmD degree this coming spring. Oh well, at least I've gained fun and valuable experiences during my four years of undergrad.

I think you will get in. Just keep applying, and do not worry about how long it will take you to get in.

For those who interviewed on November 12th:

What does it say now when you click on "Matriculation/Payment" and on "Accepted Student Checklist"?

Mine has changed a bit and I can't tell if it is for better or for worse!!

I'm pretty sure we were told that the adcoms were going to review everyone exactly two weeks from the date of the interview. They are probably going to meet up tomorrow, and judging by the way they handled the October interviews, they are going to let us know their decision late next week.

What does yours say that makes you think that something is slightly off?

Same here. Could this be good news? Do you think it could be that they will soon be posting our matriculation agreement online?:luck::xf:

That would be really awesome!!!

not to be a downer...but I think it's just a replacement for the previous message. I talked to a few people who already interviewed and got waitlisted...they got the same change.

But hey...hope i'm wrong.

^^ I don't think so either. Mine is the same, and my friends is the same and she doesn't interview until next month

Mine says the same too. I swear someone is making these tiny little changes just to mess with us.

Mine has changed as well. Does anyone know what this means?

Your friend's status is the most compelling evidence that this is just a systematic change. She hasn't even interviewed yet!

Why do they toy with us so?

I know, I was soo excited when i saw there was a change in my portal and she checked hers and it was exactly the same...unless her stats were good enough to get her in without an interview (trying to be optimistic here)

I wonder if they can see how many times each of us logged in to check.

The change that seems weird is that I can no longer can switch between CCP and CPG in application status. I'm checking to see if they get my October PCAT since it is a lot higher. LOL at you guys freaking out over a small change. They should put a little turkey picture on that page to cause a mini panic just for fun.
