So, I've read the descriptions on the website and what Dr. Hinkley said and all that, but does anyone have any more insight on the difference between the two curricula? Would Miami be the better campus for research? Is Boca Raton designed for people who really just want to be clinicians or MPHs? I would appreciate pretty much any info on this, especially current/entering students (Old ortho?)

The secondary asks if you have a preference for either campus, or you can select no preference, in which case you will apparently be considered independently for each program. I'm wondering if selecting a preference will give you a leg up at your selected campus, or if no preference is the safest bet by not eliminating an option.

well, i am not attending either one of these schools in the upcoming year, but I have seen the Boca campus and I am very familiar with the area.
One advantage: the small class size
disadvantage: small size and the 1st 2 years are held in FAU biomed building. and by that i mean its on the FAU campus which is a small commuter-ish school. the building is nice but it is small, particularly the classrooms and labs and I'm guessing there are more resources at the Miami campus.
i have heard from some students that go there now that they love the faculty and the small size of the class (everyone knows each other, including students and faculty members.)
there are opportunities to conduct research, though I am not sure to what extent.
I do know that FAU campus has no teaching hospital yet, so students must drive to do clinical rotations. there seems to be more exposure to primary care type situations, considering the demographics of the area here (suburban / elderly/ mid/upper class).
so if primary care and small class sizes are more of your interest FAU is the campus to consider.
the school had a friendly vibe. visiting it both turned me on and off to the school for the reasons I mentioned above... while this doesn't answer all of your questions I hope I offered some insight.

My suggestion is put down both the Miami and Boca campus on your application. It does not cost any extra. Once you get an interview, go to both campuses and see for yourself.
