Minnesota 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

Has anyone gotten a interview day yet? I know they said they'd tell us by the 10th (so tomorrow at the latest) just want to make sure I haven't missed any emails somehow.

I also did not receive mine yet!

Is there an interview waitlist for Minnesota? I’m considering whether to decline my interview or not since I have been admitted to a school closer to home that would be my more likely choice. Basically wondering if declining would help someone

Was wondering if anyone received a confirmation email of the second survey for confirming the interview date? I received a pdf of my responses, but no email confirmation that I completed the second survey...

I didn't get one either.

After you submitted it, you had a chance to download you submissions and it said at the top that you completed it! I stared at it for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out where the submission button was, but it said at the top that it had been submitted!

Do any admitted students here have any good resources for preparing and practicing for the interview? I'm really nervous and want to make sure I'm as prepared as I can be for my interview on the 28th!

UMN actually has a section about the interview and has a link you can follow included in it.

Is everyone either accepted or waitlisted after interviews? Or can you still be rejected?

Hi everyone! I was curious, does anyone have some tips on practicing for my upcoming interview? I don't see any practice questions on SDN, so I was curious if anyone could possibly point me the right way!

Hey!

When I interviewed they sent this link in the big email about the interview but I found it super helpful to practice!

Good luck to everyone interviewing this week! My interview is next week but I look forward to hearing how everyone's interviews go!

For anyone who interviewed with UMN today, how did it go?? I am so nervous rn
I had mine this morning, and I really, really loved the interview panel. They are so friendly and try really hard to make you feel comfortable. It felt more conversational than anything.

At this point, UMN is my top choice for many reasons, including the friendliness of everyone I have met and how much they seem to love being there.

Just go in there and be yourself! They really do want to get to know you.

Good luck to everyone on your interviews! <3

Mine is tomorrow morning! I also think everyone I have met has nothing but good things to say! Actually excited about it!

I interviewed with SDSU this morning! I have my UoM tomorrow morning, but I am looking forward to it! I’m not 100% sure how the interview went this morning as it was just straight questioning and didnt really feel conversational as they asked a question, you answered and then moved on. Im hoping Minnesotas is a little more comforting!

Did anyone, by chance, go to the seminar last night? Did they say anything about sending a recording to those who missed it?

Interview is in a few hours for me - I'll report back with how it went 🫶
It went ok! I was more stressed than I needed to be...but they're super nice and want to get to know you.
I also accidentally said Ohio instead of Minnesota once (I just did an Ohio interview and didn't even realize I said that) just kill me now LOL

They were recording the session! I don't recall them saying when they'd send out the recording though.

i’m sitting in the room rn and haven’t been let in. did anyone else have a late start?

So I've only done one behavioral interview before and ran into the situation where, in the moment, I could genuinely not think of a personal example that fit the question they were asking. Does anyone have any tips for how to approach this? It's honestly my biggest fear for this UMN interview 😅

This happened to me on my very last question and I was so upset about it because I felt like I had done relatively well answering all of the questions leading up to it 😭

I took a minute before responding and ended up fumbling through an example that was not perfect for the question but I did my best to frame it in a way that sort of worked with it. I did apologize at the end that I did not use the best example. Again, the interviewers being as great as they were helped tremendously in me being genuine and open throughout my entire interview.

So to answer your question, just do your best to frame your response in a way that fits the question and do not be afraid to take your time when thinking of an example. Even if you don’t have a specific example pick something that is close and do your best to explain how you demonstrated the underlying attribute in your experience. Additionally, do not let one “bad” response psych you out for the rest of the interview!

You’ve got this!! 😊
