Monster Mash WW - Sign Ups and Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You guys might be right. I think I tried to break the tie but accidentally made one last minute. All I know is I tried to touch a tie last minute and died. I don't want villagers to die, but I sure as hell don't want to be the villager dying for peeps IDEK WTF on the lynch pad

I'm bitter. I'm mad. People wanted to see me mad in Michigan, well you got it.

I was trying to be helpful and actually learn how to play the game but I get booted so quickly now that I feel like no one wants me to play.

Whatever.

Bye.

I'm just stuck self-preserving...

That's definitely not the case. WW is not personal in that way, we just look at posts and try to determine people's affiliations. I almost rage quit the whisk game, it takes some time to learn how to play well. I started after you and I'm still not there.

15 minutes before lynch close is a little late for that...just saying
I meant for the game up to this point, not so much for tonight's lynch. She has yet to mention any names aside from me, cooper, and mel.

Well it does a **** load of good when no one will give you the time of day to tell you what you're doing wrong

I lynched you to encourage you to talk. So now that you're here, any thoughts on anyone aside from myself and Coop?

You know who is most likely to freak out from a single pressure lynch vote? A noob. A noob wolf, sure, but actually less likely since a wolf pack would likely tell them to be a little more chill. It gets pretty WIFOM and meta with what the pack will do with a reactive noob wolf.

In general, I'm not a fan of lynch pressure talky votes, because I think clever wolves see the trap and don't go in it. You might catch a noob wolf that isn't being restrained by the pack but I think the odds of catching a reactive or noob villager is high. Then it's distraction. Then they clam up. Then they get lynched. Vicious cycle.

The people placing these votes and then unplacing these votes also come under scrutiny. I just think it creates drama if it's used too liberally on the wrong people at the wrong times by the wrong people. You see some people do it casually but it can be disaster in the wrong hands and is only a tool to be used sparingly.

Wolves are always scared to talk on some level. Villagers will usually engage if they feel safe. At some point villagers have to learn to be aggressive and willing to die for their beliefs. It takes time to brainwash people into WW properly.

Get some feedback from some of the veteran players, I'm sure they would be happy to give some.

You said earlier today that I was doing an easy vote/pressure. I then asked who I should be looking at instead.
I said that's not necessarily the problem with who although you did pick easy people yesterday. I said the major problem was you didn't give any reason behind why.

Yes I called out people who weren't very participatory in my early day post, but I also gave some analysis on others who were so yeah... depending on how you flip AM When I have a chance to play again if you flip village I will have to make a mental note you always strike me as Wolfy.
@johnnaboo sorry I won't be getting to my full analysis as promised earlier. Just got off work and have a killer headache so plan to go home and straight to bed. Good luck to you both!

There seems to be a theme with suspects you are bringing to me...this child of mine could be mistaken for a werewolf if you didn't look closely enough. But if you knew her, if you really knew her, you would see she is a little more...foxy. With a taste for pituitary glands.

My little johnaboo used the only real weapons she had - her impressive claws - to tear at her attackers. I looked on. It hurts me a little every time, to watch my creatures turn on each other.

You have lynched @johnnaboo, who was a Kitsune, and a vanilla villager

It is now Night 2. Get actions in ASAP. Deadline is 6am EST.

LIS hasn't talked much strategy-wise today so I'd like to hear from him.

I don't really have much to say. No real good reads. I kinda think everyone is on crack. *shrug*

Looks like @SnowshoeDog143 is gonna get modkilled, so not sure what the point of @LetItSnow and @Animal Midwife 's votes are unless they're throwaway or unintentional.

I guess I didn't realize Snowy was headed toward modkill-land. I was hoping to get Snowy to participate a bit.

Voted bj because she said false things about me.

I'll always vote for a bj. Are we talking about the same things?

I haven't made it past N2 the past few games. Looks like the same is happening. I'd like to be around to actually catch a wolf for once...

For real try not to let it get to you. Some n00bs just get lynched/killed quickly the first 3-4-5 games. Is what it is. Eventually you start living longer.

Well it does a **** load of good when no one will give you the time of day to tell you what you're doing wrong

Sometimes it's hard to pinpoint. I read you as village this game, so I'm not really sure what got under everyone else's skin other than the reasons they listed.

In general, I'm not a fan of lynch pressure talky votes, because I think clever wolves see the trap and don't go in it. That's fair, and I respect it. But don't forget - just because you don't like a strategy doesn't inherently mean someone who DOES use that strategy is wolfy.

Well it does a **** load of good when no one will give you the time of day to tell you what you're doing wrong

Jboo in the last few games I have been writing up a bunch of my ideas on gameplay (cuz, ya know, I'm the model villager you want to learn to not be sketchy from...) and I'll try to send them to you.

Maybe when things cool down we can talk about it. I think you're a promising player and I would hate to see you go

LIS told me something that made me feel better when this was happening to me for perspective: you often have to tear through a good number of villagers to rid the town of wolves. The chances that at some point, you'll be one, is very high. It's more fun to play longer, of course. Death is a natural part of WW. He told me to buck up and just wait for the next game, try again. With time you really will live longer and longer. The nice thing about pre-vet vs Lounge, is that you usually don't have to wait long for the next game to come around.

None of this stops me from pitching a giant hissy fit every time I die, of course. It frustrating. Unfortunately too, it's only in hindsight by being lynched that you learn how to avoid being lynched by this crew. It isn't one size fits all advice that will work either, you are just you, we are we, and we can learn to play together where it's more comfortable but it takes time and just doing it.

Don't take it personally and don't think this means you suck. It might mean we suck. 😛 If you'll put up with us and try again I promise we'll keep trying to learn your village ways.

Well, I gave some analysis today so...

@Crayola227 Why did you switch from allie to jboo when earlier you were after both my and her lynches were bandwagons?

@Karabiner13 How are things going?

You I had as village. Jboo I was ambivalent. I didn't know it was that close to tie territory until Brindi spoke up. I didn't really want to "touch" the tie as it were, to either risk tying it up or breaking it, but I was willing to cinch it to try to avoid yet another last minute waffle giving us a tie, or offing you.

I know after I got killed touching that tie that I swore off getting involved like that, but I couldn't stand by and doing nothing for someone I thought was village. If it had been my top 2 candidates or sketchoids or distractions, I might not have switched off my vote.

since I didn't tag you @LetItSnow

I think you might have missed my answer to your question if I was sketched out by you even when we wolfed together

the answer is yes, I worked really hard to find the gifs that would capture the experience, and I needed to be sure you saw it

just like that time that Dean found out Sam had no soul, but still had to sleep in the same motel room and hunt with him

which is fine, Soulless Sam rocked!!

Vampires are special to me. Not like, in a weird way. But among my children, I can relate very well to these creatures of the night. And this one in particular is close to my heart.

Last night all she wanted to do was convince some cows to join her in feasting on the blood of the innocent and partying until the sun came up. Sadly she never made it back home. When I found her, she was a little more...headless than she had been before.

In her memory, I present to you her last night action: moo recruitment

You know, it's actually fine. In high school I dressed up as a taxi cab driver and it had a little patch on there that said "free rides". So that was my nickname for the rest of high school. Fitting that I carry a similar legacy into my vet school education.

Can we stop with all the life updates on what people are doing? We’re all busy but it has no bearing on whether you’re a wolf or not and just adds clutter
As a person, I love you all and want to hear how you're doing and what you're up to.

As a mod catching up on 8 pages of thread after being unable to check in all day, I want you all to kill each other faster so I don't have to read as much 😛

Does anyone else have trouble reading people's posts with run-on sentences in them?

I don't mean to be the grammar police, but it's kinda hard to interpret meanings when sentences go on forever without pauses or anything. Maybe it's just me, but I'm having a really hard time reading YK rn.
you're just, not, mentally inserting, enough commas, into, the posts, when, you're reading, them

@Crayola227 are likes good?! lol sooo many from you today.

Are the likes of agreement? Or likes because I’m posting? Or..?

#curiouscat
Crayola likes are like rain drops. Individually they don't seem like a lot, but I've never seen just one rain drop fall from the sky.

Crayola likes. It is known.

🙁 If you need to vent, feel free to PM. WW is a frustrating game sometimes, it's okay to need to take a step back every once in a while and take a deep breath over it.

Trust me, as a professional rage quitter... sometimes it feels good to lay in your bed and mumble to yourself that it's just a game and nobody actually hates you even though it feels like they're getting on every nerve you have and won't listen to a thing you say. It's like playing monopoly with your family, you still love them but you bet your ass somebody's flipped the game board at least once.

I feel obligated to add it was for Halloween...

Oh sure. BJ offers free rides and people smile and think it's cute.

I offer free rides and people start making comments about white panel vans and candy and little kids.

Yer all a bunch of profilers.
Toss some puppies into your van and we might complain less about yer free rides

Ok my bad. I fell asleep at about 2 and woke up just a minute ago. Sorry I missed lynch close, let's see who died!

She defended me. I didnt want her to die instead of mel
Ok nooblet, let me help you out here. Just because I defended you doesn't mean I'm not a wolf. In fact there's actually a strategy called pocketing where you defend someone or say nice things which makes them look favorably on you which makes it harder to lynch them.
Keep an eye on all the people that wamt to kill me
I know it can feel like if you're vallage and someone wants to lynch you they're wolfy. Instead be grateful because it means you won't get wolf killed 😉
Better mel die than coop last night
I agree 😉 also this would be an excellent pocket if that's what you were trying to accomplish
She said a lot more yestersay and today not until late to quote people.
Yes but she still has said a lot. This is retaliation voting at its finest try to look beyond her.
Backes off too mucb attention yestersay
That is a very valid wolf strategy and a good note but she did start posting again.
I have a life (like everyone else), so sometimes work gets in the way of me camping on the computer all day. I still showed up and provided thoughts on multiple people.
This reads frustrated villager to me.
I dont camp either or u wouldn't try to lynch me for being quiet
I'm not sure what this means.

lynch coffee
I've noticed you have a thing against new players from what I've read in past games which I get but I explained today that I was at work then took a 5 hour road trip to my state's vet school. I had explained I'd be MIA today, last night

Anyways Im trying to be helpful, like my first game so I don't expect to survive the whole thing but I'm trying to be helpful.
