MPH 2020: Applied, Accepted, Rejected, Waitlisted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm an international applicant at JHU as well. No fund/TA/RA for MPH which is what I was emailed from them. Some may be available after some courses on your belt.
thanks for responding. Okay, please keep me posted. Are you able to make it to the visiting student day on march 13th?

Getting super nervous about Hopkins MHS in Epi. Been 2.5 weeks, most people Ive seen in the thread heard back within a week. Anyone else still waiting?

In at BU with a 35% scholarship! Does anyone know if BU ever offers more scholarship money on top of the initial amount they give in the acceptance email? It is just such a pricey program in such a pricey city.

Hello! Did anyone get accepted to Yale without receiving a scholarship offer? It's been 11 days and I haven't received anything so I've emailed requesting to be reconsidered. It seems that everyone here has received a scholarship which is why I am particularly intrigued in how I have not received an offer also. I purposely haven't put my stats on here as I don't want it to be of the greatest value in my admissions process, however, I'm curious as to whether it makes sense that I haven't received a scholarship (yet?). My school GPA was 4.0, SOPHAS GPA was 3.93, and my GRE was Verbal 46th percentile, Quantitative 53rd, Writing 98th. I get that my V and Q on the GRE weren't phenomenal but I felt like my other scores were strong enough to get me a scholarship. Does anyone have thoughts on the weighting of the GRE in Yale's scholarship decision-making?

*Note, I'm an international student so ineligible to fill out the FASFA form. I don't know if this played a role in scholarships or not?

I haven't heard back yet (I was accepted 1/23) but I think it's because it's only been 7 business days? I'm waiting until Friday/Monday before I call them about it. Thinking the 10 days meant 10 business days.

OOOoh...! Haha I thought it could've been that but I drove myself into feeling anxious when I saw everyone received theirs in 7-8 days. That makes me feel a lot better hearing that from you, I hope we both receive great news! 🙂 Thank you for responding!

I got mine after 8 or 9 business days - 10 or 11 actual days. No rush to email!

I wouldn't worry about not hearing back yet about scholarships from Yale. I was accepted 12/19 and received my scholarship info on 1/17, a little less than a month later (even though they said 10 days...)!

In for Epi at Emory!!
Congratulations!! I just got in for GLEPI! Does your portal say “no letter found” when you click on the letter link though? Also does yours say anything about scholarships? Or really has anyone who’s been accepted heard about Emory scholarships? Sorry for lots of questions, thanks and congrats again!!

Congrats to you! My letter isn’t up yet and I haven’t gotten an email- I just happened to check my portal! I don’t have any scholarship info yet, hopefully they’ll send some soon because I need all the help I can get! Lol! Congrats again! 🙂

Mine says the same! Also GLEPI Yay!!

Anybody else still waiting on Emory? It’s been about 8 weeks now... Portal still says “application under review.” The suspense is killing me. Lol. Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted though!

To everyone who received scholarship from GWU, is the scholarship only for the first year or it covers both years? Anyway, congrats y'all.
I believe your scholarship award is dispersed over two years. In my award letter it says "Your institutional aid will be paid in four equal disbursements of $5,500.00 beginning with the fall 2020 term and continuing with each fall and spring term until the balance of the award is paid."

Hope that helps!

Just got into the MPH program at Emory! Also heard back and got into BU today (epi & biostats) + 25% so it's been a great day!! I just wanted to ask for advice. I (stupidly) ordered my choices incorrectly and got into what I placed as my first choice (MPH) but I am really more interested in the MSPH. Has anyone ever reached out to see whether they can be considered for a separate program or would that not be a good idea?

First off, congrats to everyone who's received acceptances so far! I had a few questions if someone is able to answer them. I'm a late applicant for Fall 2020 admission and missed most of the programs' priority deadlines. The two schools I'm planning to apply to are Georgia State and Emory. For example with Emory, how likely is it that I would have a spot in the program (I'm applying for the Epi track) even though I missed the priority deadline, and would I even be considered for scholarships in this situation? I'm hoping to submit all materials by the end of next week. Thanks, and congrats again!

Hate to be even more annoying but wondering if anyone else had been moved along to another department for Emory? I was denied in 2 weeks from MPH EPI at (and I dont think I’m a terrible applicant) and now being looked at for MSPH GLEPI and EPI. My personal statement/most of my work experience has been in research and clinical trials, and my personal statement was mostly focused on research... is it naive to think maybe they think I’m a better fit for MSPH?

I applied for both the MS and MPH program where I ultimately ended up going for graduate school. My advisor, who happens to chair the AdCom for the MPH program, had told me that while I did end up getting into both programs it was a popular opinion in the AdCom that I was a better fit for the research intensive MS program. It’s not naive at all to think your experiences make you a better fit for the MSPH!

Has anyone know or have seen from previous threads when schools release financial packages and whether or not they are sent before or after you accept admission? or is it just assumed that whatever scholarship you don't receive should just be covered with loans? I guess what I'm asking is should you accept an admission offer before you receive your entire financial package or is that something that is independent of your decision? and if so, when do schools typically send them out?

I would reach out to the specific schools and ask them how they do this! I asked Brown and they actually told me they don’t create financial aid packages (loans) until you accept their offer, but other schools have told me they’d be sending out packages outside of scholarships in Feb/March. I definitely think it is school specific, hopefully that helps!

So far I've been accepted to JHU, Emory, GW, Tulane, Brown, and Yale. Still waiting to hear from Harvard, Columbia, and Northwestern. I've seen a few who have heard from Columbia. Has anyone heard decisions from Harvard or Northwestern?

I only applied to Harvard (I know, I'm probably crazy). Still waiting to hear back from them; based on historical data (from this forum), they should start sending out decision letters by the end of the week.
