MPH Fall 2014: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Waitlisted from Boston U. Now I feel discouraged and really worried that I won't be accepted at Berkeley or Columbia either. Does anyone know anything about the MPH-Epi program at Hunter College (CUNY system)?
I got waitlisted at BU and accepted into UC Berkeley (infectious disease) if thats any consolation (no word from Columbia yet tho)

Anyone else here from Hopkins (MPH)? Still waiting. They told me to wait two weeks about 1.5 weeks ago so still just waiting. But wondered if anyone heard anything..

Nope still haven't heard anything yet. They are sloooow. However, already got into my first choice (Berkeley) so not really as anxious anymore.

I was told "hope we'll be able to upload your decision (completed application 12/8) by the end of next week" last Wednesday so I am hoping we see something today! If not, hopefully early next week. arghh

For all the people that heard from Yale, did any of you receive your "complete" e-mail 12/17 or later?

Hey, just an update! As I said I also got my "complete" email from Yale on 12/17. My SOPHAS was sent to them ~12/13. I emailed them in regards to my admission status, and they got back to me earlier this morning. Said they're still reviewing my application and that I should receive a final decision from them within the next 2 weeks. Hope this helps!

P.S. I applied for epi of microbial diseases and I am a U.S. resident, but I don't think that international applicant status should influence the decision time too much! So hopefully you'll hear back soon too, but it's probably much more dependent on the department that you applied to.

Good luck!

Congrats to you Pdesai8! But I bet it would still be nice to know 🙂

Ok hopefully something today. Otherwise, I guess early next week. I was complete on November 13th so it's been a while too. Anyway hopefully something soon..

@Emma1600 aaaahhhh OMG I haven't looked at any tickets yet. Are you staying with you're friend while there? I'm having a hard time find hotels!! Lol i know i'm guilty of looking into the weekend myself.

@Mha1991 I'm not bringing family either. But some of my friends' parents go with them but not to the actual visit/interviews they've had.

@Flyinghippo HCM students do get access to YSPH and SOM career services. But they are still two different entities. SOM is a bit more developed as far as connections are concerned. But they are more business instead of health management which wouldn't serve our purposes directly. Emma1600 is right when she says there might be more leg work on our part. But visiting companies would be interesting and super fun. Field trips never get old lol

Exactly what I was going to say. Yale SOM isn't a big healthcare B-school, so even though YSPH HCM students have access to recruiting and career services at both the public health and business schools, they don't specifically put a lot of resources into healthcare management career services. This is in contrast to MHA programs who, because they are a separate degree, funnel resources into career services for healthcare management students.

I was accepted yesterday (2/6) into UW's MPH in epidemiology/MCH training program.

Congrats!! May I ask when you applied? I applied to UW's MPH Epi too but haven't heard anything back...

I submitted my application on 11/26/13. Maybe I heard because it's the Epi/MCH program?

Oops, I read too fast and missed that part, sorry! Congrats though 🙂 I am so anxious to hear back from schools.

And I got waitlisted...annoyed. What does the waitlist even mean really??

Got my first acceptances today! :soexcited: University of Michigan and University of Iowa.

On the other hand, I also just received notification that University of Wisconsin has only now confirmed my application as complete. :uhno:

Yay congratulations on your first acceptances, very exciting!

Got Emory acceptance:soexcited: today adding to my acceptance at Hopkins MPH and BU (15000 award)... really getting confused though but waiting for HSPH... fingers-crossed

Congrats!!!! Did you apply to the HBHE track at Michigan?

I just heard from Dartmouth MPH-- Accepted.

Congrats! Andrews1989 or anyone else that applied to Dartmouth: What day did you submit your application? I've heard nothing from them beyond the 'your app is complete and will be passed along for review' email.

Is anybody going to Accepted Students' Day at Pitt? If so, where are you staying and for how long? I'm thinking about staying an extra day to hang out in the city, but I don't really know anybody in Pittsburgh.

Has anyone heard anything from Harvard?

Also if anyone else is looking to go into global health monitoring & evaluation, what programs do you like best? I know it will be hard to choose.

Congrats to everyone on all the acceptances!

I had an interview last week. It was really relaxed and a pleasant interview. It felt more like a chat.

I just got the email about the interview yesterday - have you had yours yet? Did they email or call you? And how long did it take for them to contact you from the time of the email? I hate not knowing when it's coming!
I received the email notifying me of the interview on the 28th. My student contacted me for my availability on the 29th via email. I gave her my phone number via email and she called me on our agreed upon time the day of the interview (Feb 5th).

You should be hearing from your assigned student at any moment now

Took a leap of faith just applying to one school but it worked out. Considering deffering my enrollment, but I'm already 26 yrs old. Any thoughts?

^ I'm deferring (most likely), but it really depends on if it would bother you to come out at 29ish then/would you do something constructive during the year off?

I can't empathize with the age thing (I just turned 21) but it's all what you'll do with the year I think (I'm au pairing for an ambassador in Europe) which isn't directly related, but I'm young and think taking the year off may help me.

Has anyone heard from GW recently? Esp if you applied for the MS in public health microbio and emerging ID. My app was complete Dec 3 and I haven't heard anything :/

Don't worry too much about GW. I got an acceptance for health policy last Monday and my app was complete on 11/18. Good luck. I'm sure you will hear soon!
