MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Accepted into Emory for GLEPI!!!! No word on financial aid yet, which will be one of the biggest factors when making my decision. I'm leaning toward GSU since they have assistantships to cover tuition and provide a stipend, plus I have already taken the majority of their core through the Graduate Certificate so I could finish the MPH in only one year...but Emory has such a great program and so many interesting classes and the name does go far...what a decision! 😵
Congrats!! I applied to this concentration too- do you mind if I ask when your application was routed for review?

In at BU for epi and biostats! Just checked my portal, assume I will get the email later like everyone did last week. Beyond shocked, but v excited!
is the portal the spot where when you sign it it looks similar to signing into SOPHAS?

I honestly really feel for those who aren't checking pages like this one-they may still not know about the mess up
Was thinking this same thing, but several people on here have emailed them about it. Also, if they changed all of our portal pages back to the applicant page at the same time, they must know that it was a wide-scale issue. Given that they've had plenty of time now to address it, and haven't, it sort of seems like they are trying to sweep this under the rug - not a good look to say the least 🙄

edit: just realized you were talking about other applicants - not people at columbia lol. Yeah that sucks for them 🙁

:')))) why is Columbia so cruel I really want to write a strongly-worded email, but I have no clue if it'll change anything, especially considering it's after the fact 🙁 Congrats on all the BU acceptances though!!! We need some good news on this forum 😊
me too, its disappointing thinking u got in and a few hours later finding out your application is in the review stage. Columbia owes us an immediate apology.

I feel led on by Columbia 🙁 Also agree with the sentiment that they recognized the error and had time to change our landing pages back, but have yet to make a formal acknowledgement. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard to look past the 17 hours of grief they caused to so many people...

im sure other people have already wrote them emails lol.

Did anyone's portals stay in the "Admitted" mode from last night??? I am trying to figure out if they only changed it back to "applicant" for some.....or all of us?!
My portal went back to the "Applicant" url, but if i I manually type in the "Admit2021" url, it loads with the same info as last night. So strange.

I'm gonna hold off on checking the Columbia portal and just wait for an e-mail from them.

I haven't! I haven't even been sent for review yet. I emailed them about it and they said the notification for review is manual so it takes time on their end lol
Have you heard from them at all since submitting on sophas? It's been about a week for me and nothing so far

I got an email to complete the supplemental app a couple days after submitting on sophas. I haven't heard anything official since submitting the supplemental, but I reached out to their admissions office on Feb 3 and they said this when I asked about the status of my application "We will notify you when your application is “complete” in our system, at which point it will be assigned to our faculty admissions committee. I see you submitted your supplemental application on January 18 and we appreciate your patience as the process of applications on our end is manual." For reference I submitted on sophas Jan 14, received and submitted supplemental Jan 18, and got the email above on Feb 3.

It took a while for me to get an email that my application was complete which freaked me out a bit--I eventually did though so I think they are just a bit slower

Well, glad we were able to figure it out together despite the outcome! Next on my list: how to unregister from Columbia's Admitted Student Week

Yeah thats what gathered from the this thread. I'm not too worried that its taking a while, especially considering how quickly people recieved decisions after getting the notification their app was complete 🙂

Honestly, after all this craziness (and STILL no email addressing this), I don't know if I want to attend Columbia anymore

Naahh...mistakes happen. Last time it happened it was a "human error". Probably something similar happened. Life goes on.

I am 100% positive that Columbia admissions office is having a "crisis" meeting on resolving the issue and working towards making sure it does not happen again (hopefully). Most importantly working on how to address this publicly.

NYC just came out of a major turmoil from the pandemic. We've got to give the people a break.
