I hoping I get an email today, so I can cross it off. Seeing all these is making me wanna decline tbhjust got an email from GW saying they were giving me no money... ok then one school to cross off the list 😛
As everyone is making their decisions, I'm trying to decide between BU (still waiting on the formal email with scholarships) and JHU MPH part-time/online. Both programs are fantastic and I'm hoping to do a mix of online classes and work part time doing research at my current job at a big hospital in Boston. BU is convenient solely due to location and possibly financial aid wise, but JHU is THE top dream program. My plan if committed to JHU was to do the first year or so completing my core classes online part time while working in Boston (lol I psychotically mapped out which classes I could take online vs on campus) and then move to Baltimore to finish the rest of my degree, which I'm not sure is insane or not. I'm planning on applying to medical school later and the JHU name and connections would really help in combination with my great hospital job not going to lie. If anyone has any advice on how they've been making their decisions or how I can get closer to a decision please help haha I've been making pro-con lists all day trying to figure it out haha

Thanks for the input it really helped! It's so hard to make these decisions especially since I'm trying to keep my full-time job while doing these classes so the option to take them online and be able to attend after work was appealing to me but also trying to base everything on how med schools will view it always adds more stress haha so I appreciate what you said and am definitely going to take it under consideration! If you plan to pursue medical school after mph, between on-campus BU's MPH and part-time/online John Hopkins's MPH, I would choose BU's on-campus MPH. Online programs cannot be compared to on-campus programs in many aspects. Adcoms at med schools will primarily take into considerations of your undergrad's gpa, as grad school's gpa tends to be inflating. But if you have a grad degree, med schools will take that into considerations to primarily gauge at your ability to succeed, not so much calculating that into your undergrad's gpa (this is med schools in CA, particularly LA). But the benefits of going through an on-campus mph program is that you can talk to your academic advisor about your intentions. They can connect you to work/intern at a department of your interest at BU med school. By having your footing in and the inner circle connections, you will have an advantage when it comes time for your med school admissions, particularly at BU med school. MPH programs are collaborative in nature. Think about this opportunity to open the doors for your med school career goal post-grad.
That is my 2 cents.
Congrats on your acceptances. I wish you much luck and will achieve all your future career goals 🤗
Columbia finally sent that email guys lol. Guess we will all know our decisions by March 1st
On the evening of Feb 4, you may have beenmisdirected from your application portal page to a draft web page. Your application is under review and no decision has been made as of yet; you can expect an admissions decision by March 1. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused.I am curious. What was their response?
Nothing better than waiting 3 months for a decision.Columbia finally sent that email guys lol. Guess we will all know our decisions by March 1st

3.7 (just under that before I took a couple of post-bacc classes and now its just over that). I struggled most in biology (pre-med classes before I knew what I wanted to do). I'm really hooping to get in to Harvard - its 100% my first choiceY’all that applied to Harvard, what was your GPA? 3.3 here
I'm kind of in the same boat. In-person vs online. I have a really good hospital job right now and could use the additional financial support they offer for school. Also, I have some outside commitments in my area. However, some programs I've been accepted to are residential and provide connects to my future dream job. Really hard to make a decision. I've been making a pro/con list as well. If finances are important to you, that might be the determining factor for you. Thanks for the input it really helped! I agree this really turned me off from Columbia. Mistakes happen, I just wish they would have handled the situation in a more timely and appropriate mannerYikes... somehow that email made the situation worse IMO. No acknowledgement that the “draft page” obviously made everyone think they were accepted. “We sincerely apologize for any confusion this MAY(!!!) have caused” ... at the end of the day its not that huge of a deal, **** happens, but i do find the whole thing quite distasteful, and for me personally, it definitely impacts my view of Columbia SPH.
Edit: they are clearly trying to downplay the situation. Acting as though updating the portal with an acceptance page is not akin to sending out mistake welcome letters. I think I speak for a lot of us when i say that to a hopeful student who is constantly updating the portal waiting for a decision, its exactly the same.
Exactly! The feeling of seeing a Ivy League acceptance in your email is an amazing feeling. Then to see it was a mistake is criminal on their part. They should admit the people that had that happen to them.Yikes... somehow that email made the situation worse IMO. Exactly. To me it kinda feels like im dealing with a big corporation who wont admit a mistake and hired a terrible PR person , rather than an educational institution for public health lmao. Sorry im being a lil too dramatic about this hahah, just my two centsI agree this really turned me off from Columbia. Congrats!! I received scholarships about 2 weeks later (but the timeline seems to be different for everyone), but I haven't gotten a full financial aid package with loans or work-study yet.Accepted to HMP at UMich! For anyone who has gotten in, how long did it take to get a financial aid letter?
I was verified right before 12/1 (literally 11/30) and I haven’t heard back either.I was verified on 11/13 for Columbia and not hearing back has made me quite sad. I'm going to try and stay hopeful. Anyone else who was verified before 12/1 not hear back?
