MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you all so much for your kind words! I also didn't know they offered full tuition scholarships and am so so excited! My full stats are on page 3 for reference
GPA 3.9 and GRE 99% percentile?!

Alright everybody, let's go home

Im Out GIF by The Bachelor

Congratulations though for reals!

is there a groupme or facebook group for JHU? Specifically international health?

I was just offered a full tuition merit scholarship to Columbia! I received an email that there was an update to my portal. Pretty shocked and absolutely over the moon right now! :soexcited:

Here's to hoping for generous financial aid packages for all of you at your top choice programs!
Wow, congrats! Is it your top choice? I can't imagine the relief of not having to worry about tuition and just having to pay books and housing+living!

does anyone have any insight on what the Michigan HMP interview is like? it's pretty short so just wondering what kind of things they ask

I found the interview to be more conversational than investigative. I was asked questions related to my motivations for the degree, how my experiences tie into it, and then some follow up questions from those answers.

I think it helps to have specific examples to reference and know what you’re drawn to about Michigan’s programs over others.

I reviewed my application- especially essays and was prepared to expand on sentiments and ideas I shared.

Hope that helps and best wishes to you!! 🤗

My Columbia interview was not good... only lasted 10 minutes and the interviewer was not interested at all.
Anybody else's experience? Super disappointed
I actually had a very similar experience but was then admitted 2/3 weeks later. I wouldn’t take it as a measure of your strength as an applicant at all. Good luck with the final decision ❤️

Ofc! I clicked on the email sent to me back when I got the acceptance the one with the subject “UPDATE - University of Minnesota School of Public Health Application” and before it would say congratulations on your acceptance etc, but now it says
Scholarships
Name: Minnesota SPH Tuition Scholarship
Status: Accept

I emailed them but no response. I also noticed in previous forums that the first round of scholarship emails came out around this time so here’s to wishful thinking 😂
Omg mine says the same! Let me know if you hear back from them - fingers crossed for us!

Thanks for taking the time to help others. It is the kindness such as this that gives hope to us all.

I dont apply to that program, but I just reached out to say thanks.

Still waiting on any information on columbia scholarships/ aid 🙁.

Also is anyone else waiting on their Michigan Epi scholarships/aid at all? I feel like I'm the only one who hasn't heard anything back yet lol.

God I hate waiting for financial aid information.

Has anyone heard back for Community Health Sciences at UCLA or Global Environmental Health at Berkeley?

Wow, what program? I don't think I've gotten any emails from them at all...not even to verify that they were reviewing my app...
Global health! I got an email the day after I applied without verification and then an email the day after I was verified to say it was complete. Definitely email them and make sure they received it!

You're not alone!!

About how long did it take people to hear back from Emory? I'm feeling discouraged 🙁
My application was received 12/16, routed for review 1/12 (some delay cause I had to send in my test scores), then I got the decision e-mail on Monday 2/8! Good luck!

Anyone still haven't heard back from BU (either via email or landing page)? My app was verified on 12/10 and I received the email stating that my app was under review on 1/11.
I haven't heard back either! I'm constantly refreshing my portal. My app went into review 1/26. 😕

Anyone else having major imposter syndrome during this process?? I really went into this thinking I was a decent candidate. I was already struggling with the fact that I am just freshly 20 & ‘competing’ with applications that could have years of experience. All of my college experiences are basically in 2 years, Almost 3. COVID-19 prevented a lot of opportunities for me. I’m also a First generation college student.
I’ve only heard from three schools, Two acceptances, one rejection. No scholarships or anything yet. Makes me wonder if I should’ve waited a year to graduate, but I wanted to move on to the next step of my life.:-(

Anyone hear back from Rutgers? Or know when we might be hearing back?
wondering the same thing... I'll email an admissions counselor who I've been in contact with since October and I'll let you know what she says!
Update: she's out of the office until the 15th. i'll post her response after lol

Rejected from Colorado SPH! Honestly wasn't excited about the prospect of moving to that area and wasn't super sold on the program (it's a good one! my interests are just niche!) so I'm kinda glad I don't have to give it anymore thought during my decision making 😅

Thank you! I have been debating between UW and Columbia, but this makes the choice pretty easy! Yes, it's definitely a major relief.

Hi! What was your Dartmouth Interview like? Anything particular i should be preparing for?
Do they give any information about the interviewer before the interview. Thanks so much much for sharing your experience.

Anybody decided where they're 100% NOT going?
I think I'm gonna turn down Drexel and Boston.
Drexel's program just feels a bit too generalized/non-customizable to my interests and is still quite pricy even with the scholarship. Was kind of a safety.
Boston was also honestly a safety for me, and also still expensive with the 35% scholarship. Plus COL is way too high, and I've heard some mixed reviews about the program.
Both are great schools/programs, just not the best fit for me compared to my other options, which I'm grateful to have!

Temple, Drexel, definitely, and 99% sure Pitt. They were all safeties for me. I also want a change of scenery!

mine too! do you know where to find the actual acceptance letter that would say our scholarship award?
it comes when you get the email. hopefully you'll get it tonight or tomorrow
yayy congrats!!! 🙂 i’m still waiting on the official acceptance letter/email too! i’ve seen that it usually takes like a day to come in

I agree with this! Mine was very friendly, what's your story/journey to public health, why HMP-type questions. Just show your passion and you will do great!! 🙂
