MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think they are referring to emailing her to check status. You can't check status through a portal. They email you a decision letter.
Yes. Hahaha. Sorry about not being clear. Yale hasn't sent me anything referring to the portal either. I'm not worried though. *trying hard to be PATIENTLY waiting*

I've also found that talking with the faculty member from the school you're considering really helpful. I think they should all be very approachable and supportive for incoming students. We're really making major life changes. A brief talk doesn't take that much for them but would mean a lot to us. I would suggest reaching out to them and not just the admission officers.

Did you guys fill out FAFSA for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022? I only filed for 2021-2022, would I still get a merit aid package from schools? I don’t know how this works lol

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but pretty sure you need to be filling out FAFSA for 2021-2022 if you will be starting school in Fall 2021. (I think you have to use your 2019 tax info though for this form, not your 2020 tax info...)

If I was verified for Brown on 12/16, I suppose I should be hearing back soon.

Huge congrats to everyone who was accepted to Harvard today!

Congrats to everyone on your decisions today!! Has anyone else still not heard from BU yet? I applied in October but didn't get the under review email until 1/27 and I'm starting to get a little worried!
I was sent for review around that time and have not heard either!

Under review 1/27 too! I applied around 11/25, so I am really anxious for an answer lol.

I hope it's not like a Yale weekly thingy and we have to wait till next Thursday.

Based on previous posts, Harvard releases decisions on Thursdays and Fridays over a 3 week period.

I see that the Thursday ones have been "Accepted" and Friday ones are mostly "Waitlisted". This is just based on the very less data. Maybe I am just overthinking this.

Have you seen Harvard release decisions for the same program over multiple weeks, or do they release all acceptances for a specific program on one day and then the rest are waitlists/rejections? No worries if you don't know, just thought I'd ask!

Apparently the decisions were planned to be released in the order of "application received" but supposedly they totally randomized it last year.

Is anyone attending the GW class today? Fundamentals of health policy? I'm having trouble accessing the links that they sent us.

I was thinking of getting a grad student apartment that’s 3B/3B but the other responses are making me want to live alone 😬 I prefer university housing because it comes furnished so I don’t know what to do
Me too! I actually prefer roommates because it's a built-in friend, but I've also been super lucky with my roommate experiences.

I went to Berkeley so roommates (most people have doubles) are an absolute necessity

Waiting for email from "Harvard" and I get this one -

Freaked me out and had to read the sender name at least twice 🙄 Today is not the day for spam!

Accepted to UNC’s MPH for Global Health and Duke's MS of Global Health programs as well as Emory for BSHE!! I’m so grateful and honestly so happy that this process is over haha 😭. I'm leaning more towards Duke or UNC as those were my top two choices. I would love if anyone can speak on either programs and/or university culture! Any other insights would be greatly appreciated!

To anyone still waiting for decisions, hang in there! & Congrats to all the acceptances so far! 🙂

@lostpotato Congrats!!! Isn't the MS Global Health program a fully-funded one?

I can speak to UNC/the triangle in general! Feel free to PM me 🙂 and congratulations!

Thank you so much! Any advice going into it?
In your answers, give sincere, specific answers. The questions I got were (roughly) 1. what does “public health” mean to you? 2. what skills do you hope UPenn can teach you? 3. where do you see yourself after you earn your mph? 4. why pursue your mph now? 5. why UPenn’s mph program?

There were a few spinoff questions and discussions. The second question inspired some more intricate questions about my public health and academic interests. The fourth question seemed to be in response to me being young-ish (I'm 22 and most of my experience is academic- they were curious about why I didn't want to wait until I had more professional experience). At the end, there was some time for me to ask questions/chat with them. I was super nervous so I came away feeling kind of rough about the whole thing, but in the end, it all worked out. I think they liked that I put a lot of emphasis on my passion for interdisciplinary studies, and how listed very specific examples in response to their questions.

Be positive, honest, and engaging, and I'm sure you'll do well!

I have an interview next week! What type of questions do they ask?
I couldn't figure out how to multi-quote and respond to you and coffeelover12345 at the same time, but I wanted to let you know that my last post is for you as well!!!

I signed up yesterday for today's class but I didn't even get the login info emailed to me yet and it starts in ~2 hours 🤷‍♀️
So did you get to attend yesterday's class? I got the links in my spam but the only link that worked for me was the link to access previous video lectures.

@lostpotato Congrats!!! Isn't the MS Global Health program a fully-funded one?
IS IT??? They haven't sent any financial information yet. Duke does provide 100% financial support but not sure if that means 100% financial support through loans or scholarships...

No I didn't sign up for yesterday's class, only signed up for the health policy class that's today but I have 0 links that were sent to me aside from the original email for sign up and a revised email with links that work for sign up lol.

The revised email has subject line "GWSPH | (Correct Links) Upcoming Events for Admitted Students" and if you click the link for whichever event you want it just sends you to a registration page

Wait I wasn’t aware that there was a portal for Brown 😳 did the set up link after the application complete email?

You are correct, I should have said fully-supported. Sorry about that; I am sure you skipped a heartbeat reading my earlier post. Apologies.

I was waitlisted from Harvard on a Tuesday; I would say you are overthinking this ...

Thanks. The online Epi program does not seem to fit the Thu/Fri schedule. The T/F schedule I mentioned earlier was relayed by the admissions office last year.

I am also waiting for them to get back to me! Also applied in October. 😫

In at Harvard SM80!!! Now just waiting for Brown before I make a decision. Did anyone hear about financial aid from Harvard?

Edit: Just saw I was only offered loans. Welp there goes that dream lol
Would you mind telling us your application schedule? When did you submit? *** Nevermind, just saw you submitted 10/10.

I’m dead, this is me everyday with every school
Definitely me, too.
feeling like a major imposter even after I got in. ((((Playing Among Us to try and re-attach that imposter identity on something other than my real self)))
I was surprised and so honored that one of the profs I talked to said my app made a big impression on him, and he wouldn't be surprised if I got into any school I want. [whaaaat... SOBBING] He's also one of the few profs that I really want to work with.
I'll wait and see if he predicted correctly. lol

I also haven't received any links yet for today's class

hi all, i've been lurking on this thread but finally am posting. my plan is to get my mph before medical school and i'm wondering what matters more to med schools, program ranking or program name. for example if I got into emory (ranked 5) and northwestern (ranked 30) where would I be better off in preparation for medical school. please share any thoughts/commentary, i appreciate you all 🙂
if you're interested in clinical research, it might also be worth considering which school has a medical school you could potentially do research with! I'm not a premed counselor though, so I honestly don't know which would be better! sorry if this is not much help

Has anyone from Health and Social Behavior track, either MPH-65 or 45 got decision from HSPH?

Has anyone been to the 1-on-1 Admissions Q&A with Mary Keefe (director of admissions) or Office Hours with Becca Melnick at Yale? I'm tempted to register for one and ask about the status of my application. Any suggestions/past experience with that? Appreciated!
yes, they're pretty general questions during the Q&A! I would email Mary directly to ask about the status of your app! I emailed her yesterday and she got back to me within 2 hours saying I would get a decision within the next week - 10 days.

I also haven't received any links yet for today's class
I sent them an email but I guess if no reply before the class starts a recording is okay too

Just wanted to attend because I haven't been in classes since I graduated in May and wanted to see what this one is like since it's required for health policy students

oh I just re-read your post and didn't see you meant 1:1 with Mary, I haven't attended those. But if you just want to ask about your app status, a short email would be just fine!

I think they have another health policy class on the 25th we can register for, since the registration page says there was overwhelming registration for today's class.
