ans : to your q

couple of questions I need to know their answers plz :

1-if someone has exellent oral hygiene, then do we start with oral prophylaxis in ortho treatment or not?

Yes, always do a prophy/ sc/rp whatever is needed, before any treatment.

2-If child has cold do u put them ON nitrous?
No, nitrous is containdicated in patients with upper respirator tract infections, empysema, bronchitis, and 1st trimester of pregnancy, autistic patients and any contagious diseases.

3-thrombosis crisis ? All can cause it in chidren but? Cold, infection, NO2 with sedation

4-Do we let the parents restrain their child in the dental procedures ?

It should be our intent as dentists that all professional care delivered in our dental operatories shall be of the best possible quality we can provide for each child. Providing high qaulity care can sometimes be made difficult because of lack of cooperation of some child patients. The parent may be asked to help with controlling undesirable movements or just to provide security by holding the child’s arms in his/her lap.

5-In tooth movement, does oxygen appear on one side of the movement ? a question that I couldn't figure at all !!

Physiologic Response to Sustained Light Pressure -Blood vessels within PDL partially compressed on pressure side, dilated on tension side; PDL fibers and cells mechanically distorted Blood flow altered, oxygen tension begins to change; Minutes prostaglandins and cytokines released. Oxygen tension regulates osteoblast function. Tooth movement by orthodontic force effects tissue changes within the periodontium, especially by shifting the blood flow in the pressure side and resulting in a hypoxic state of low oxygen tension, possible mechanism of apoptosis( the process of programmed cell death (PCD) ), response to hypoxia in osteoblasts---- the main cells in bone remodeling during orthodontic tooth movement. Abrupt changes in oxygen availability within the periodontium have been suggested to have a regulatory role in alveolar bone remodeling during tooth movement, suggest a triggering role for oxygen tension (an environmental factor) in bone remodeling, that orthodontic forces cause a depression of the oxygen utilization system.

Hope this helps

ps. any other views anyone else?

Thanks for the answers.

but regarding this q: medicaid does cover dental benefits for adults
ada website:

Who is covered?
To qualify for Medicaid, an individual must meet financial criteria or may be a member of a group that is “categorically eligible” for the program, such as low-income children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities and parents. Federal law mandates coverage of some groups below specified minimum income levels, but also gives states broad optional authority to extend Medicaid eligibility beyond these minimum standards. The flexibility that states have to establish their own eligibility rules has produced wide state-to-state variation in who and how many are covered by Medicaid.

since medicaire does not cover routine dental procedures?
ans is : medicaid?

4.4mg/kg, so 88lb would be 88/2.3= 38.26*4.4 = 168 is his max dose
so % of max dosage allowed for this pt would be, amount of lidocaine he was given divided by max amt allowed for him,, so he was given, 36+36=72mgs,, so 72/168*100 = 42

I think they are the same. to my knowledge, Articaine ( septocaine ) is different !!

for 3% mepivicaine, 54mg mepivicaine is present in 1carpule.
3gm/100ml= 3000mg/100ml=30mg/ml *1.8ml[standard carpule] = 54 mg

the question says 2% mepivacaine.. so how many mgs of mepivacaine present in a carpule of 2% mepivacaine?😕

for 2%, it will be 36mgs in one carpule
I thought u were asking in general , not related to the question. sorry

A cast gold restoration might be indicated for the replacement of a faulty amalgam to obtain

a. better margin
b. more ideal contours and thanks to Dockdk who say that is on 2m RP asda

I'm not sure but I think that it is true, please corret me if is false.

what are the contraindications for (if any )
Sedation with chloral hydrate and hydroxine in children, contraindications are only like liver and kidney dysfuntion or be hypersensitive to this drug because is a good option for children sedation
Sedation with oral meperidine in children: contraindicated for liver or kidney disease px, epilepsy, asmatic, urinary retention problem, addison's disease, hypothyroidism or history of seizures.

From Kaplan: A large amount of energy is given off when the high speed electrons from the cathode hits the anode, decelerates and gives off the x-ray. however, only a small fraction of energy produced is in the form of electromagnetic waves (xrays). most is in the form of heat.

Premature loss of the primary first molar results in loss of space from both directions. The primary mandibular second molar drifts mesially, and the primary canine drifts distally, but predominantly there is movement from the anterior in the posterior direction for the mandibular arch. A, Arch perimeter has been lost on both sides.
The band and loop appliance is used to maintain the space after the premature loss of a single tooth. The band and loop appliance is indicated when there is unilateral loss of a primary first molar before or after the eruption of the permanent first molar. The loop is constructed of 36-mil round wire and is soldered to the band.
