No interviews yet....anyone in the same boat?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Let's all hope for better luck in 2012!

...hopefully we don't have to reapply for that luck to kick in though!

...either way, since it's the end of the world in December, even if we are accepted we only knock out the first semester of med school. In anatomy we will be like, "Oh my god, I wish the world would just end!!!" Then it will.

I was a part of the no interview group until recently. I'm just posting to show people that there's still hope and that many still haven't heard from a lot of schools. I'm still rooting for everyone in this group and I hope you all get interviews soon!

Don't give up hope everyone. I just got my first interview during Christmas week. :xf:

Well, I guess I could be part of this thread too 😉. I've started to plan for next year now as things don't look so great. Best of luck to all of you and I hope your dreams come true.

isn't there still some time left in this cycle though?

hang on, guys!

Yes, there is still time to land interviews. Some schools even interview into April (USC Greenville)! But I believe most schools send out interviews until the end of February. Good luck everyone.

Are you interviewing @ USC Greenville in April?

No, but that's what the admissions coordinator told me when I sent an update sometime back in December. I've got my fingers crossed for several schools. I'm willing to bet that I'll get one or two very late interviews and land on the WL--which is much better than no interviews and no list. 🙄

I applied to 20 schools... 7 rejections, 1 pre-interview hold, 12 silences. ...The waiting game continues.

I officially don't belong in this group anymore. Good luck to all those still waiting.

12 schools, 0 rejections, 2 pre-interview hold, 10 silences. Right there with you brotha.

As your name suggests, in though times like these we must pray to the mile high messiah and find comfort in tebowing. We can all find strength in his teachings that even a guy who can't throw can be a winning NFL quarterback and even set passing records against the best defense in the league. GB^2

Just obtained my permanent residency this week and sent applications to my instate schools and only 4 out of 7 schools let me apply

For out of states, one interview hold, one interview small pool, 4 silent schools, and two rejections 😀

No interviews yet 🙁 I'm not holding my breath, but I wanted to ask, is is in bad form to call the admissions offices and ask them about the status of my application? Would they even be able to tell me anything, such as whether I've already been rejected or wait listed, or if I'm next in line to get an interview or something? I've been complete since October and haven't heard anything since, and it's starting to fray at my nerves a bit.

Some schools, like Creighton, have open-door admissions policies on a certain day. If you call during that time, you can talk to an admissions counselor about your application and any potential weaknesses. It can't hurt to call some of the schools you're most interested in. Good luck!

Edit: Don't ask about if/when you will get an interview, but rather your application in general and whether you can do anything to appeal to the committee more. Schools will notify you if you're rejected/waitlisted, and most won't tell you anything over the phone anyway. Calling is fine, just don't pester the admissions office.

Thanks for the quick reply 🙂 I'm gonna go ahead and call and just ask them what they can tell me, but I won't pester them. At this point, I just want any information at all.

I didn't apply this past cycle but good luck to everyone still waiting! Hopefully you pull through

Got another pre-interview rejection today. The fight continues

Is it wrong that I immediately thought "lucky you"? I haven't heard anything in over a month from any school.

No kidding! If my application is collecting dust in the rejection pile somewhere, just let me know so I can move on with my life.

...Rochester finally let me know I got rejected two days ago which sucks, but it's definitely more reassuring to know.

Nothing but rejections for me in the MD universe. Got 3 in the past 2 days: Rochester, GW and Rosalind Franklin. I'm up to 8 rejects, 1 hold, 0 interviews and 13 radio silences. And the fun continues...

In the DO universe: 2 interviews with a 2 day turnaround between submission and invite. Seems clear where the love is. ;-)

Let's see: According to my email, I received an "update" from the school that interviewed me last year to tell me that if they didn't interview me by 1/20, I should consider myself rejected. Another school was kind enough to say "we're working on it". Other than those two (12/22 and 12/6, respectively), I haven't heard anything since Tulane rejected me on 12/7.

I figured it had been longer, but it's been four months at all of these schools. No interviews, no more rejections.

I'm humbled and excited that Drexel has recognized my awesome and I've an interview scheduled (they were the pre-interview hold). No word from other schools yet, but I have to withdraw myself from this list. :luck: to all!!!!

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of reapplying and still have not gotten an interview invite. I've had a battle with the MCAT and I'm guessing thats the reason things haven't worked out for me so far. GPA is about 3.4 and MCAT 29Q (best 30Q). I'm thinking Caribbean now would be the best option for me.

I'm at a 3.35 and 30R here. Apparently a 75th percentile MCAT is "mediocre", so it could be the problem. Personally, I'd go DO before Caribbean. SMP is also an option. Feel free to message me if you'd like to vent about the annoyances of the application process- I'm right there with you.

If you don't have interviews by now, it's probably not looking good from here on out.

Which DO schools did you apply to? When did you submit your secondaries there? I'm debating putting in some DO apps myself.

I don't know, man. Sure, your chances are decreasing with each day; but most schools interview into March. There's still a chance. I guess it's a good time to start planning for the interim between the next cycle, though. At worst, you'd have a plan to talk about if you do land an interview. I feel like this whole process is taking time off of our lives. For those with low MCATS, rest assured that if you get through this hurdle, the Steps and Shelf exams are all knowledge based like in college, no tricks. Good luck.

I disagree, I got my second interview just a week ago and the first one about two weeks before that. The interview season is still VERY much going on and anyone here still has a chance of getting an interview.

I would advise doing so ASAP. I applied to 3 DO schools with the following timing/results:

CCOM
Secondary Submitted: 12/12
Complete: 12/13
Result: Waiting...

UNECOM
Secondary Submitted: 12/12
Interview Invite: 12/16
Interview Attended: 1/5
Acceptance: 1/13

LECOM - Erie
Secondary Submitted: 12/29
Complete: 1/9
Interview Invite: 1/10
*Interview Scheduled: 1/27 (*Withdrawing due to UNECOM acceptance)

Stats: 30N, cGPA 3.46, career-changer, AMCAS verified 9/28

MD Universe: still 0 interviews, 1 hold, 13 silences.

How are you guys getting rejected? Status updates? Emails? what? I'm in the dark for most schools i've applied to. 4 MD interviews, no acceptances yet.

Emails for me, well there are two schools that i expect are silent rejections (which are worse if you ask me) and nothing else from the rest of the schools I applied to.

2 MD interviews, 5 email rejections, 2 silent rejections (I presume), 1 withdrawal, and 5 wait and sees. Still keeping hope for more interviews.

Both emails and snail mails for me. And I totally agree: Silent rejections are indeed the worst.

I was complete late November to mid-December for 23 schools. I've received 8 rejections so far. I haven't had any interview invited yet, but I know I haven't been waiting that long either. At what point should I panic and start applying to smp programs?

SMP programs are a last ditch option. If you're going to panic, start applying for jobs, which will give you work experience and pay you, rather than SMP programs, which will take your money and *maybe* improve your chances of getting into medical school if you do really well.
