spursss, i didn't mean to say that TCOM sucks period. i know it's ranked better than TAMU in many areas.
i was just referring to the fact that in a premed's eyes, TCOM usually ranks lower therefore more people would probably let go of a spot at TCOM for an MD school that they may get accepted to. they are more likely to do that with TCOM than with TAMU. according to a bunch of first years that i've spoken to, TCOM was more often the backup than the first choice.
again, TCOM is an awesome institution and the education you receive here will be on par with any other school in the US. and TAMU is not a badass institution either; i just think the location and community are far better for me than at TCOM, and an MD will make my residency pursuits easier than a DO degree will.
that being said, i am still massively relieved i don't have to apply again and that my efforts in the postbac program were worth it. i am happy to finally be on the road to being a doctor.
