NSU acceptance class of 2011!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Try using your NSU ID. It should start with an N followed by 000 and additional numbers. When you submitted your secondary application, you should have gotten an email back as confirmation. One of those emails, it lists your NSU ID number. Use that instead of your SS# and let me know how that turns out. If you tried the NSU ID number, try the SS#. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll get to the bottom of this.

I dug up my NSU ID#, and it worked finally. Thanks dude, you da man!

I've been reading through the NSUCOM student handbook and I have a few more questions.

1. What exactly is the attendance policy?

2. Students are assigned seats in lecture? (or did I read incorrectly)?

3. They made mention of students who are licensed in health professional fields not being allowed to work in those fields while in school without permission. So if I had an RN or CST license I could not take a shift a month without permission? (Not that I plan on working, but I would like the option to take a shift to stay loose).

Thanks

So, did everybody finally get their NSU holiday card?

I got two finally! Yes! That won me over.

Word! No problem at all. I used my NSU ID too.

1. It varies from year to year, but for certain courses, there is a mandatory attendance policy of 70%. Anything lower than that and points will be taken from your final grade. In some courses, 100% attendance is mandatory less exceptions.

2. There is no assigned seating. Many students "have" a seat, but there is no assigned seating.

3. I don't know about that. You would have to be licensed in FL first and I'm not sure you'll have that much time to do so. I would expect that you need to receive permission first.

3. I don't know for sure if you are supposed to ask permission or anything, but there are a few people in my class who work on occassion (Nursing I know for sure). I've not heard of anyone being told that they couldn't work.

i might just join you guys since it seems like the pre-allos suck ass.

MikeyLu, just curious: how did you change your screen name?

There was an announcement up for a week or so in mid January offering people the option to change their names. I wanted to but couldn't decide... Sorta like chosing schools!!

Does anyone know more about the Graduate Housing thats supposed to be starting this august???? (besides what it says on the housing website....)

I don't know what it says on the site. What else is there to know? The pricing? Where it is?

I put pictures of it on Facebook, it's going to be 700 rooms, with a common kitchen area. It will cost about $4k or $7k, I don't remember the figures, but I'm sure it's on the website. They're still building it, so things are not finalized. Also, it's all based on the lottery. So, blah.

I went to NSUCOM. Loved it. Congratulations to all that have been accepted and will moving to sunny Florida. Its currently sunny and 78, with a breeze.

I am currently finishing up a rotating internship and will be moving in June 2007.

I live in a wonderful Western Davie neighborhood and will be putting my home on the market soon.

Wanted to offer it to yall first to see if anyone would be interested.

See my post in classifieds if you are interested in buying.

Hey everyone -

There is a facebook group for those who have it. It's free, so please feel free to sign up for it. It's a wonderful way to get to know your fellow students (put a face to a name) and there is a lot of information concerning housing, financial aid, health insurance.

Hope to see you there!

HOD

Did everybody get their first listserv email today?

What's in the zip file? My %&*#$ Mac can't open it.

it just has the same message and vicky's full name and email so it can be added to your address book.

Thanks, Ossari!

Anyone know how we are supposed to measure ourselves to make sure our coat and scrubs fit fashionably? Do we get to try different sizes on before buying?Who is the manufacture? Info is not on order form, and they might have a sizing thing on their website. Manufacturers always differ, and I want to make sure that I look real spiffy for med school.

Also, do you all think sandals will fly?

you can wear sandals to class..but not in the anatomy lab...obviously it wouldnt be pretty if you dropped your scalpel on your feet...and for the white coat the general rule of thumb is to order a couple of sizes larger than your normal coat size. back to studying brain

Thanks Mikey!

Ok, saw Swan makes the coats, and found them on the web for $11.00! (plus $4 embroidery)

Oops! I should have mentioned this already, since I asked when I went down. It may have changed since last week, but they don't know who the manufacturer of the the lab coats are going to be this year, so there were no samples for you to try on at the bookstore. the scrubs as you can see from the picture run large. I wear a 30x30 and the small is big on me. If I didn't use the ties, I think I could fit into a XS...since when did I become a med school anorexic?

Oh? I thought they run big also? I have a lab coat from school and a medium is huge on me. The one I used at Mass General Hospital was a small and was adequate. I wish they had samples already at the bookstore. Also, they said that there will have coats for us to try during orientation. So, you don't have to submit the form now. I will be on top of this issue and will post my findings when I find something more concrete.

Thanks, HOD! You're on top of things!

Anyone know what the rates are for the school offered insurance, roughly? I could not find it on the chickering site.

Sure do TR. $1694 covered July 1 07 - July 1 08. That's the rate for the 07-07 school year. It may vary some for our class. Should I put this stuff on the website?

Hema, don't forget to add yourself to good ol' matriculation station!

Yeah. I think that's the club that does it. You'll get the whole schpeel during orientation when the clubs have their recruiting day.

by joining SOMA you also get a copy of old exams for most classes from previous years which is SUPER SUPER helpful when preparing for exams. 🙂

Thanks, HOD! Where do you find this stuff? I thought I scoured the NSU site! So, not a large increase at all! One school I have looked at, the tuition jumps 7K for years 3 and 4.
