For those of us who interviewed on the 30th, she said it usually takes three weeks but she was hoping to bring it to committee this upcoming week, so we may hear earlier. She mentioned that she was hoping to get the September acceptances out before Oct 15th that way you can follow the AACOMAS guidelines and have until Dec 14th to put down a deposit, so we would make the right decision, knowing how expensive the application process is. At least that's what she told the first interview group while we waited for our tour guide.

so, i sent out my secondaries mid august, and Ive received interviews at other schools, but NOVA still hasnt sent anything .
I tried calling them, but they arent much help on the phone. for all of you who got interviews, when did you submit you applications? 🙁

$1250 if you're accepted prior to 02/16, and $2000 afterward since it includes the acceptance fee and deposit.

They follow the traditional guideline, so if you're accepted before 11/15 you have until 12/14. Accepted between 11/15 and 04/15 and you have 30 days. Anytime after that you have to pay immediately.

I believe you need your letters by the time you interview. Some people got interviews before their letters arrived, others after. My invite was the same day my letters arrived, so not sure if that had any effect. Check their website to be sure or e-mail the office. Not sure if you need the physician letter before or after the interview though. If you have your LORs ready (which you should at this point) just send them.

Not bad. I was exhausted after the interview day, so I wanted to check out town but ended up passing out at the hotel until night, and then had to search for food lol. Slept like a baby on the early flight though, which is a rarity, usually nervous on flights. Good luck on an acceptance, and hope your short trip north went well.

I received an interview prior to my LOR being sent in, but it got there a few days after my interview. So yes you can get an interview but they will still need it to make a final decision on your file.

I have been complete here for a month. It has been saying decision pending for the so long now 🙁
should i be getting worried? They have everything including 5 LOR's (DO,MD, 2 science profs and 1 non-science)

The hotel's pretty good. It's like 87 dollars (NSU discount+tax included) for a night and there's a complimentary shuttle to/from the airport and to/from Nova <-- this saves a great deal of money, free breakfast and all the rooms are suites so you have microwave, fridge, and living room type area. Don't expect to use the hot-tub though, I went to check it out and it's not even turned on and the water's got debris in it 🙁

hey guys -- i'm interviewing tomorrow morning and I drove around the campus tonight and couldn't figure out for the life of me where I can park without getting towed. The only 'visitor' spaces I could find were 2 hour parking only ones -- where did you all park?? Did I miss it?? Can we park in that garage??!! If anyone could let me know, I would greatly greatly appreciate it!!!

in one of your emails there should be a parking pass that you can print out, and you can park in the garage.....just not sure how necessary that parking pass is.

I think they gave out a ton of interviews really early and haven't given out many since. Don't fret. I know they were only scheduling interviews until December when I got mine. They still have a good 4-5 more months of interviews to schedule. They'll probably give out another huge batch at some point.

From my personal experience in a med grad program i just did, Iv done alot better studying recorded lectures on my own than going to class bc i tend to zone out in class. She told me why I would pay so much tuiton and then not go to class.

On my interview, they said the audio is recorded and the slides/syllabi are available, but due to a recent copyright thing at another school, they no longer make the video available, or at least don't plan to. They also have an attendance policy, albeit a soft one that is easy to work around, so keep that in mind.

From my personal experience in a med grad program i just did, Iv done alot better studying recorded lectures on my own than going to class bc i tend to zone out in class. Is it possible for me to study online lectures or must I go to class? What is the quality of the recorded lectures? I called admissions office to ask them and I got yelled at for asking. She told me why I would pay so much tuiton and then not go to class.

You can just call comfort inn and they will have a van pick you up and drive you directly to the airport for free. When I interviewed there was a whole bunch of us staying at comfort and we went together from NSU to the airport. Enjoy your visit to NSU its an awesome school!!!

Official attendance policy is you have to attend 70% of lectures and 100% of labs/small groups. Lecture attendance is taken by swiping your card on a box on the wall. Plenty of people swipe and leave. Others don't bother swiping and don't show up. Others have their friends who attend class swipe them in. As far as I know attendance for lecture isn't really enforced, at all. Now if you fail a class or 5 they might look at your attendance record and not be sympathetic to your case if you never went to class. What can get you in trouble is swiping and leaving or having a friend swipe you in since that is 'unethical'. Has anyone actually gotten in trouble for this? I don't know.

There is video/sound recording of the lectures. It is up to the individual professor if they will allow it. Some don't because they don't want to risk being sued for copyright violations. The quality is usually decent. You can watch them up to 2x speed.

In our M2 year they have given us all the lecturers notes(except pharm) at the beginning of the block. We also have note service which copies down what the lecturer says during class.

at my interview they showed us the card scanners and said you have 10 minutes before to 10 minutes after class begins to scan the card. and although our guides didnt directly say it, they implied that there were easy ways to get around the card scanning policy. however they said the 'official policy' of nsucom is that attendance is required.

The statement you got from admissions is pretty much the sentiment of the administration. There is definitely a "big brother" attitude here. As for the recorded lectures, you shouldn't expect anything out of them. The system they use is not very good quality and it has only been used for the classes that you wouldn't really need it for. I have been extremely disappointed with it. When I interviewed, I was sold on the fact that they use video archiving. I'm just saying, don't count on it.

thanks! im pretty sure Ellen said that it would take 3 weeks, but that they were trying to get our applications to the admissions committee by the week after we interviewed.
